I bought the series in the singles long ago, then bought one in Japanese, and got that trade just to read that.
I've also bought the Marvel/Epic release of Akira, because color is great and makes action more readable. Never completed it, because it's too expensive to get the first few and last few comics. I own both the trades and singles for colored Epic series, along with the other Akira localizations.
I like buying trades of comics i already own, just because it's more convenient to read. Did the same shit with the GI Joe series.
I keep the singles, because they are perfect time capsules for their era and because there can sometimes be differences when the trades are published.
