I live in Mexico really close to the Texas border, and for the last 15 years ive been bringing stuff from there as a side business.Currently ive been rrselling Neca stuff since that line is not available down here and in general, i sell them for little more tha double what i pay for them, as an example, i sold some Krangs las month for 120 dolllars. So it is profitable but at least where iam from you cant have a big business by selling toys, theres just not enough market.

No. New molds can cost 100,000$. A single toy design might cost millions to make. Releasing in a wave (with reused parts), as well as re-releases can keep the price lower, but its still a huge gamble with no guranteed pay off.

A single toy can cost about $70,000 to produce. If you want 3 or so figures and don't care about reusing parts, it'll cost about $120k.
Mind you, the true costs are lower, as these prices include paying Kickstarter too. But good news, it also includes your profits.
