Yeah, he's a well known drama queen in the toy community and likes to complain about anything that's not the vintage toy he grew up with. He's a legitimate crazy person as well and is very thinned skin. He did several videos complaining about Classified. He's probably doing the Action Force interview just to bitch about Hasbro.

I think he's great but in the last thread other Anons were talking about his hip joints being stressed if you move the leg forward. Mine isn't doing that so it could be a gamble. If you manage to find one I'd say get him.

I like Bobby and his Action Force line looks amazing. He's also pulling help and input from the G.I.Joe collector community and thats really cool... but the guy is super salty over his and Mark Weber's idea for a 6 inch Line getting shelved and Classified getting the Green light. If he throws one more fit I'm probably gonna cancel some of my pre-orders.

I'm very certain he was mad when Sgt. Slaughter announced on twitter that he was in special talks with Hasbro about something big(implying they were making a Classified figure of him). Vala in the deleted ToyGuru seemed to have a lot of sour grapes over Classified. While he wasn't outright attacking the line, some of his statements seemed backhanded, like you could tell he was still mad.

I'm assuming since it's a Retroblasting video that it is indeed going to be a negative video attacking Classified if even indirectly, but I suppose I'll watch to see I'm proven wrong.

I agree. He should be proud that he's doing something of his own without Hasbro. And it's not like people who are into Classified also aren't going to buy his Action Force stuff. I saw several people in groups place orders for the riot troopers after they were fed up not finding the CI Trooper along with the weapons packs.

There's no way they'd be that stupid, though I am surprised at how long it's taking. We're just now seeing the repainted trooper trickle out and it's been 6 months since the first one. He was talking about Classified as if it was a failure, but ToyGuru's been talking as if it's a hot item that Hasbro lost control of, because covid prevented all the Snake Eyes merch to be on shelves. It's been a little bit since I watched the video. ToyGuru took it down and put up a new video like the next day or so clarifying why you can't find Classified figures, saying it's because they only sit on 3 pegs if you count the store exclusives, and that they were clearly supposed to be sitting next to an entire shelf space of Snake Eyes toys.

Watching it, it feels like the interview is barely about Action Force, but really about Michael trying to get Bobby Vala to shit on other companies, particularly Hasbro and Super7, because Michael is angry about Hasbro charging so much for vehicles and then Super7 suddenly asked for $450 to do a Thundertank. He keeps asking questions about the industry:

Michael and Bobby are now shitting on Classified. Bobby basically seems mad that they're competing with him, saying: "They're not my cup of tea."

Retroblasting says they're flopping because they're always sold out therefore sales are bad. He also said he's "pleading the fifth" saying how he could talk about why he hates them forever.

I just finished watching the Retroblasting livestream with Bobby Vala, it seemed like the big purpose of it was to complain about what Super7 did with their Thundertank pre-order, but it yet it some how wasn't really about that, but really Retroblasting complaining about Hasbro. It seemed like Retroblasting wanted to have an industry person talking smack about both companies and that he had an ulterior motive for this interview. There was some moments about the G.I. Joe Classified line, and it was very clear that neither Michael or Bobby like Classified, and it seemed to me that Bobby hates it, because he thought he was doing something original by making a 6-inch Joe style line(that's my opinion from his states not just in the livestream), only for Hasbro to show up and do the same sort of line while he's still struggling to put out any figures. Yeah, I can understand that. To me, having already went in with low expectations, and if you treat it like it was a middle-ground PlayStation 2 title, it’s actually not as bad then. Then again, with it being a third-person shooter, without cover-shooting mechanics, each time I play it, it makes me want to play Lost Planet and Lost Planet 2, seeing as how they don’t have cover mechanics, but they’re GREAT games! It feels as though the game was meant to be a budget, online shooter, but then they realized most of their target audience wouldn’t have much time for online competing play, they just said “screw it, slap a story together and duck tape all the multiplayer maps into campaign missions, this thing ships soon, folks!”

I was kind of expending him to be a little more unhinged mentally, like someone who likes fire and explosions due to some sort of harmful mental problem (like some versions of Firefly, or Firefly from the Batman comics, since they have s lot in common), not a quip-loving, “haha, aren’t I so quirky! I watch anime and wear anime hoodies in public!” boom-boi. Plus him yelling “BOOM!” every other time you reload got a bit grating.

Also, how come none of the characters seem to hold their two-handed guns (not counting underhold guns, which I forgot the real term for) correctly? They all hold them weirdly. With one-handed fine they seem to hold them well, even having some sort of trigger discipline at times.

He made a number of videos on the matter, shooing one in a toy aisle after Christmas saying how anything that was still on a peg during the post Christmas restock wasn't selling well. Anything that was empty was earning it's space and G.I. Joe was one of those. He said that Classified was a line that wasn't supposed to be the main line, but had become a "horse that had already left the barn" so there's so little of it out there. Retailers were kinda taken by surprise and didn't order much of it, because they expected there to be Snake Eyes toys next to it and those flooding the shelves, not Classified.

This is the way I did it, since I didn’t remove Firefly’s flak jacket. You boil the hips, move the pins out of the way the best you can, and then slide an exacto knife or a box cutter along the seam. It’s easiest to sort of stab into a part where you know there’s empty space in the hips, so either the side or the middle “groin” area. I stabbed the groin first and then the side.

The hard part is cracking it open. The heat can weaken the glue that holds it together, making it easy to cut, but the tough part is cracking it open. You have to turn your knife sideways to put pressure on the rest of the seam. I’ve had some success doing this while it’s hot, but that often makes the plastic bend rather than “break”. So I’d try it while it’s cold. Stab the knife in there, not just the tip or you’ll break your knife, and then turn the blade sideways. You don’t want to see the plastic strain and turn white.

Done correctly, this should break the glue holding it together and snap it apart. Then just do it on the other set of hips as well. Slide the hip pins out, swap, and glue the hips back together. The seam line of the hips will be covered by the rubber pants too, which is nice. If this is confusing, I’d recommend looking up “cracking a torso” on YouTube, there’s plenty of customizers explaining how to do this.

I feel like Bobby thought he was going to be the only person doing a 6-inch G.I. Joe style line, and had he gotten his figures out fast enough that would have been true for a little while. Whenever I hear Bobby Vala talk, he says how other kickstarters took forever and failed because they didn't have someone who worked in the toy industry running them-- hyping himself up, but he seems to be having the same trouble and taking just as long. Slaughter made a statement in a video where he mentioned that he's been having some talks with Hasbro about something big, suggesting he's in Classified too.

Anon who accidentally got a CI Trooper here, I finally got my Cobra Commander.
I decided to go with the regal one but of course I got one with with a weird blue mark on the belt, it's not a huge deal but I'll bother me until the end of time (at least the helmet is fine).

Fortnite is more akin to Yugioh, it has nice artwork and it tells a story with its connected characters used in background art or referenced. Look up the Six Samurai story, mediocre deck but interesting character history.

Yeah, he’s from the line of toys called “The CORPS”. Originally, they were sort of like a knock-off GI Joe, but then they branched out ito their own thing, using their own forms of articulation, instead of using the old rubber band method older GI Joe toys used. They used to be pretty cheap, like you could get a three figure pack for maybe 5 or so dollars. They’d usually come in two packs, three packs, or a big ol’ assortment of them. They’d also have vehicle sets, and some of the two and three packs came with a “mini” vehicle, like a motorcycle, a one-man boat, or a jet ski. Later on, they had one figure packs. I believe the sets are still being released now, and looking pretty cool. The story advanced further too. Some of the characters who used to be good guys are now bad guys, some are now just mercenaries, and I think some even died, permanently. They even have mech suits now for the toys. Pretty cool stuff. They can be great army builders, due to their price (or their former price, I’m not too sure how much they are now), and they’re actually made pretty well, and have a good range of articulation.

My Scarlett has a stress mark on her same hip joint. At this point it's too dangerous to try and pop the legs off cause you could just snap the stem. Heat the hips and drop some sort of lubricant onto the balljoint, work it through while the plastic's still malleable. Should work to loosen up the hips and put less stress on it from then on

That's exactly what I'm going to do, have some RC car suspension lube in the mail. Luckily Firefly isn't very dynamic anyway with that vest, but I'd like to be able to have him kneel every now and again without the leg shearing off. There's some Russian figure with a really nicely detailed VSS and i thought about buying him a couple months ago just for the gun... but i like for the figure to be nice too.
Figure's a fucking manlet and that made me jsut not give a shit anymore.

I can wait for someone to make one eventually, or maybe buy a bootleg on ebay.

Not even that much of a fan of 1:12 scale either. I own exactly 3 of the new GI Joes, two of Pimp Daddy Destro, because XMas isn't alwyas that great.
Very passive with the new line. No active hunting since Corona. If i find something during my monthly Target/Walmart visit, i'll buy it. If not... eh.

I saw reviews months ago on the other figures when i was thinking of purchasing him, since he still wasn't released. Compared to the Mezco and ML figures, that line was small.

BTW, haven't even taken my GI Joes out of their packages. So i'm not even sure how they scale with my Mezco stuff.
Very passive with the 1:12 Joes.

They're honestly a really good sized compared to most foreign stuff advertised as 1/12. They stand around regular marvel legends size that aren't cap big or slightly oversized like mezco.

I really don't think so. The Lanard Predators are nice, but they lack the articulation and paint that most other 1/12 stuff has. Especially since Classified is probably the best line Hasbro is putting out compared to their other stuff like Marvel Legends, and Black series.

Well for one there is shelf space, since Hasbro is holding back due to the movie they only have about 3 pegs dedicated to Classified, meanwhile Origins has about double that as well as the shelves below for bigger boxes so they have the retail space for vehicles.

Doesn't stop from getting Cosmic Ghostriders bike literally less then a year after the character came out. Stores tripped over themselves to get that bike and figure. We have had several 1/12 speeder bikes from star wars. There is literally lines dedicated to motorcycles, cars, dioramas dedicated to 1/12, time to stop using this limp argument and just admit Hasbro doesn't give two shits if they can't tie it into a movie or sell directly to the scalpers since paypiggies are will to pay someone to cuck them.

No offense, but you really didn't look very hard. They still sell the second series of 1:12 weapons in a bundle, and imo they're much nicer then the first wave of weapons. Though I do agree the grips can be a pain sometimes, some leeway needs to be taken when transferring an object from real life into toy form.

I love Lanards stuff too, and I'm a huge fan of how simple yet fun their toys are, but there's no way they'd outright replace Classified figures. Hasbro is just killing it with this line and it's only real problem is lack of distribution.

That said, having more 1:12 scale soldiers to mix with Joes would never be a bad thing.

Hard to say. They have made a lot of people think this brand is just scalper central, if they can’t shake that look and the movie does well, we will see a Star Wars Episode 3 effect where product sells ok but it glut stores really bad. It's Target, Walmart, etc that you guys are bitching about. They're the ones that don't order enough products.

Hasbro themselves would love that each store would order a million boxes.

Also, this entire "line" is nothing but a quick back up plan, since the movie was delayed by Corona. Hasbro couldn't sell any movie toys, so they relied on the only non-movie toys to be the entire toyline.
It takes 14 months to plan a line and about 10 months to produce/ship everything, btw. This is why there's almost nothing for Hasbro to release.

It's a subsidiary like Hasbro Entertainment, it exists outside of Hasbro but is umbrella under the main company. Basically it's Amazon but only for Hasbro products.

The redesigns aren't even that egregious. Wave 1 is literally classic costumes with some armor bits and highlights thrown on, save for Scarlett. Those kinda fans are never gonna be satisfied anyway, they're willing to spend hundreds on custom printed weapons that 100% resemble the old designs, painting over every little detail until the figure is 3 whole tones of bright color, and swapping any head that resembles a real person for a fucking Marvel Legend head. Zartan, Mindbender and Raptor all knew Cobra Commander had been replaced by an imposter and were keeping his secret for their own reasons, so the real Cobra Commander had cause to consider them traitors, but most of the people there were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Firefly, Voltar, Croc Master and all those Vipers.

Hama retconning Firefly's death was probably just because Hasbro made a new toy of him, so he had to come back in the comics, just like he had to later bring Mindbender back.

I'm not sure how I feel about the re-releases. I think I like the color selection better, but they look so... flat? It's losing a lot of little paint details that really help break up the design. I also worth that it means that Hasbro can get away with doing less now and idiots will eat it up. I'm holding final judgment until I can get at least one in hand, but fuck man Roadblocks legs look like ass when it's only one color.

Eliminating the blue highlights kills the design, and a muddy brown is probably the worst substitute color they could've chosen. The face looks inflamed now and doesn't have the cute freckles. ....and I would have been incredibly disappointed for doing so. The original version just looks more vibrant and the face looks so much better. The darker colors and sunburnt face just don't giver her the same pop as the original.

Out of all the figures that should have the gold, Scarlett made the most sense because it's similar to her original color scheme. Changing it to that shit brown color looks awful. The only thing I like about all the changes is the darker hair but the face on the first looks way better and like an actual ginger. She looks so cute in person.

So after rewatching Spy Troops thanks to gracious anon, I rewatched Resolute and Rise of Cobra cause I have nothing better to do. And I gotta be honest, I think I enjoyed Spy Troops the most. I used to love Resolute, and it's not like I hated RoC or thought it was bad. Am I just retarded?

Spy Troops had the spirit of the original cartoon. Resolute was the 'grown up world' of GI Joe that we all asked for, but its still not the same as the classic Joe we're used to. And Rise of Cobra was almost as bad to GI Joe as the He Man movie was to its line. Okay, it's not that bad, but it ignored a lot about the characters and lore we loved, while Spy Troops felt more like a continuation. It got me back to buying Joes when it came on Toonami.

The live action movies at least gave SS a reason, even if it was kinda weak. And Renegades used jealous-bitch SS but gave him an actual code to follow, he didn't just brainlessly hate SE.

Is Spy Troops the one where SE and SS perfectly shoot bullets at each others bullets? Or are those two separate CG affairs?

He also hated him because he thought he killed the Hard Master. And, in turn, Storm Shadow cut his throat with a shuriken, causing Snake-Eyes’ muteness, in that version.

Yeah, he started off being jealous/distrusting to the point of trying to poison SE. The maid oopsies the poison, and SS thinks SE was murdering the Hard Master with the tracheotomy. So then SS thinks he was justified in in trying to kill him.

He eventually learns it was all his fault the Hard Master died, and he more or less goes "I need to go away for a while and think about what I've done." If Renegades ever continued, I hope SS could still be a badguy, just a more honorable one. His ninjas gotta eat.

I think he would have. The design they had of him in his classic look, along with a Red Ninja, that was used in the Amazon pack definitely makes it seem like he'd continue to be something of an antagonist since he's sporting the Cobra logo.

I really liked the direction they were going. A couple whiffs here and there, would've liked them to get a second chance to reel Firefly back in, give Major Bludd another runback. It would’ve been cool had they continued it. Along with some other reasons, o think they had some info telling them that “the Hub” channel was dying. Kind of sucks, because they’d also play reruns of Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, and sometiems Superman: The Animated Series. Along with reruns of the 80’s GI Joe cartoons. I know “Discovery Kids” kind of took up the mantle, but they only show old GI Joe at, like, 4 in the morning, instead of sooner/later. And they can’t show Batman or anything like that, due to a few reasons.

It’s on Tubi for free streaming. No account necessary, and it’s safe. They also have Sigma Six and the Sunbow series on there as well.

For now, at least. Sometimes certain shows and movies are only there for a limited time. Like, I watched Afro Samurai, and I was planning on watching Afro Samurai: Resurrection, big by the time I got around to it, it had been removed.

Some of the stuff on Tubi is crap, but there are some gems there, like the stuff listed above, they’ll occasionally have the two animated Hellboy movies on there, Sam and Max, Sonic if you’re into that, Ghost in the Shell movies, stuff like that.

I guess I'm alone in loving the connections between Duke, Baroness, and CC. The only thing I didn't care for was the relationship between Ripcord and Scarlett, but that may be because I've shipped her and Snake Eyes forever. I'm probably the only person on earth super bummed that we didn't get an actual sequel, and instead got what felt like a high-budget fan film.

I think tying up CC with any GI Joe origin is tacky. However, Hama's take on it with Snake Eyes was okay yet I tend to ignore it. You know, now that you say that, it does ring a bell. I think it’s suppised to be a kind of loose connection where, if you want it to be the same continuity, it can be, and if you want it to be stand alone it can be (in a way, perhaps). Plus, it was the first “mainstream” GI Joe cartoon we got after the Spy Troops and Valor Vs. Venom movies. Plus, the reliance on all sorts of different BATs in Sigma Six, as well as ST and VvV leads me to believe so.

Plus, I think ST and VvV might also have been some kind of “alternate universe/timeline” from the Sunbow era, mashed into some comics, but if certain events and backstories never transpired.

You’ve unlocked some sort of memory of reading on some old forum back in the day, anon; never actually interacting, just reading.

One thing I hated about that line was what I hated about POC/30th : No female characters. The designs for Scarlett, Baroness and Jinx were good. What the point of giving these broads major roles if your not gonna make toys of them?
