Now theyre putting out their own original versions of Kong because Kong is public domain, but theyve never had the rights to any specific movie Kong
And they don't have the Godzilla License anymore because Toho put a hold on their figures so the NECA figures wouldn't compete with the GvK toys that playmates were putting out.
But then covid kept delaying the film, so Toho's hold on NECA kept getting prolonged, so I guess when it was time to renew the license NECA didn't because they didn't know how much longer it would be until theyd be allowed to actually make any Godzilla figures, so it wasn't worth paying for the rights if they can't use the rights.
I think Super7 is only just getting the rights now because any ultimates they're going to put out won't be out until 2022. Also just about all their products are either small run niche stuff or high priced stuff.
