Unfortunately when things like this ever do get another chance, it's usually with gimmicks stripped out for more accuracy. And if there's nothing to be accurate towards, good luck at it getting a toy at all.

I've been eyeballing the "totally not megatron" Ma'tail' Beast Winged Dragon, since it looks fukking good, but I'm hearing there's some problems with paint chipping on one version, and loose or breaking joints on the newer version. Anyone have this and have any thoughts on it?

The big ones in the back are simply arranged from shortest to tallest. The MM ones are arranged so that the SD versions of the two big guys at the back are to the sides of MM's latest release. That's really all there is to it, the guy probably thought this arrangement looks cool. By the way if MM ever makes a normal sized titan with similar gimmicks and design flair as its SD representation I can see them how much do you think they would price them?

Yeah, but as articulated as a brick, new age could at least do an update to them all with a retool potential for sideswipe and the other colors of him.

I'd love to see a viper defender side burn by them. The spychanger was almost there except for going full gts with drag wing on the backside.

So they were going to repaint Destruction Scorpion? That'd have been a great idea but it would still be way too small compared to FH's SGMF creations. The Maketoys version on the other hand is too big but it is a citybot so it kinda makes sense that it is bigger than a giant truck and a jet + tank team.

I own their windcharger and he's pretty ok. Not the best 3p I've owned, but not the worst either. Transformation kinda sucks, always have to watch a video review to figure out the feet because they're stupidly complex.
Other than that, it's not bad. Just an average, middle of the road 3p mp

I think the next two after Thousandkills would be Deathclaw and Mentarazor. Ironshell is great as well, but he doesn't get the same kind of "look at all these modes" that the other 5 do.

The squid is the best executed seacon overall I think. The best ones after him personally are the lobster and both the shark and piranha (tied, since they're basically the same figure with different fish parts) since they each have solid robot modes and really expressive monster modes.

The only seacons I kind of don't like are the manta ray and turtle. Manta ray is a good bot mode but the monster mode is pretty boring, the turtle is alright overall but he has that torso-bot jankness.

Seriously, in a time where combiner pants and just-add-cars combiners have taken the magic out of the combination, I'm glad someone is making fresh new ideas.

Plus I feel the G1 combiners really need redesigns when updated. the originals were really hampered by engineering and size and had really generic looks. Then the cartoon is even more simpler and generic looking, which is the template for so many 3Ps these days.

I was considering replacing my Feral Rex, but now I'm having second thoughts.
I haven't bought the previous members yet, so I might just settle with Divebomb since he's my favourite. I don't have any emotional attachment to Predaking or its members, but I'm more than happy to get my favourite design + he looks phenomenal as a stand-alone figure, and he definitely has the shelf presence.

I have two PBs, OG Red + SG Purple, plus God Armours (that's how it's sold as) for both. You definitely should get him to go with DE, but keep in mind that he will be shorter in comparison without the armor to bulk him up. In addition, you should also keep in mind that the head you're showing is the alternate version that was sold separately (with a new pair of hands), and I can't guarantee how readily available it may be.

I have the original release and he's pretty great. Transformed him a few times and haven't had any paint chipping issues but then again, I've also been as careful as I can with him. That being said, he's still a big and slightly unwieldy boy so parts colliding a bit during transformation is still inevitable and despite that, nothing has chipped yet.

Well, technically there is one place paint has chipped, but it's in a place you will never see in either mode. The slot that the dragon head fits into is kind of a pain in the ass to fit together, especially the first time since the dragon head comes detached, so the pain has chipped around that slot. It's a pretty minor thing though and because that slot is covered in both modes and is turned around inside the forearm if you choose to display him with his normal hand, it's a spot you will never see except mid transformation, so it's a non-issue.

But yeah, really cool piece and so long as you're careful, you should be ok.

Let me tell you, you won't regret that. Back in 2019 I got him & his armor from Fans Hobby's BF sale that year. Sure the shipping is still a bit rough because HK don't get to catch a break in regards to their rates, but even taking that into account the discounts offered still bring it lower than you'd find Stateside.

Now, at this point I did already have the OG Red + armor (the v1 with the blue eyes instead of the v2's red), and I either already had or was going to soon also have the SG Purple + armor; and it wasn't until *after* that point that I realized having 3 of the same guy was bit...excessive to say the least. I sold him off to a friend of mine at the cost of the shipping (because coming out of the Bay Area which is the final post office "zone," the further it has to travel the more expensive it gets to be), so now I just have the two. And of those, only Purple is combined -- I've got Red and God Armour side-by-side on one of my floating shelves.

That being said, it still didn't stop me from getting Machine Eagle at the end of last year from A3U's Boxing Day sales -- and I'm still working on convincing myself that he's totally different and not something that's really more or less the same thing but with a few different parts.

The key take away in regards to Power Baser is that with no two ways about it, transforming the core bot into his combination cab mode is pretty much going to suck in the last two steps or so. Transforming from robot to truck, transforming trailer to armor, those are fine and simple -- but getting that damn thing to fold up in just the way it needs to in order to cleanly lock together is just a bitch.

Thanks, anon. I guess all versions of Power Baser are great, I do like how they all look, I just think the black repaint is the coolest looking in full God Ginrai mode. For some reason however, the black one seems to have sold the least because he is still in stock in a few places and none of them are stated as reissues. Probably because most people interested in an FH God Ginrai already had their fill with the standard and SG decos like you were.

They're fun but only ok QC wise. Not that there's any major breakage issues or anything, its just that the plastic feels cheaper and the paint is minimal and not perfect sometimes. still tough, they're the only ones doing what they're doing and its worth supporting if you want more.

Like at least with a combiner that big you can usually like assemble it in parts but with core star if you wanted to try transforming him or anything it's a fucking work out. I started with MMC Backdraft that I got from TFS years back for $70 myself. Later added in MP-37 & MT Grapple, so I have a nice trifecta of all the variants. I also have MT's G2 Ceasefire sitting with BBTS PoL, but I've been trying to think since then if there's something else to add before I ship.

By the way if anyone decides to unscrew IF Ultra Magnus's hip assembly for whatever reason (I wanted to adjust his leg ratchets they seemed too tight) watch you don't tighten the bottom screw too much when you reassemble it because it cracked the back piece a little when I did it on mine. At this point I'm leaning towards the probability that the ones shitting on it and the ones defending it are actually just the same bunch of haslab employees and hasbro-sponsored 'tubers samefagging to generate buzz with 1 or 2 genuine anons taking the bait and getting mixed in. I get that MS legends don't feel quite right in hand but I that seems to place a bias on feelings vs actual quality. Not to shit on MFT here because I'm sure they're just fine but you have to remember why MS legends feel the way they do. They're made of a nylon material that you could drive a truck over and it would survive. Now I understand why anyone would prefer how your standard ABS feels to the touch and it's a perfectly valid argument for tactile sensibilities but in the case where you're using it as a mark of plastic quality, you're letting your brain trick you into thinking it's bad material because it's not what you're used to, not because it's actually cheap KO plastic.

You are missing the context. MS' Breakdown and Wildrider aren't fully Nylon but mostly ABS for most of the parts. For some reason their ABS parts suffer from various molding defects like pictured, and also cracks, stress marks from assembly. There are more shown in previous threads and elsewhere. They seem to either lack experience using ABS or have made the decision to rush this pair out before CNY.

Meanwhile IF and MFT have hit their stride with their QC for these pre-CNY releases, it's not bias or "feelings".

While I do have sadness towards losing Thiccbuster and Make-a-ton-of-cack, the greater part of my grief was that they did the Monsterbots in a fairly quick fashion (by 3P standards), but moved right on past them into Power Baser & Double Evil.

It was my hope at that initial start that they would also do the Firecons, since of the six, Flamefeather was my personal nostalgia attachment to that line. So while I still love the three that we got, it will always be on my mind that we didn't get the others.

And while it wouldn't have affected my choice in not picking him up, I still think it would be interesting to look at the alternate timeline that NAVAL COMMANDER (FH seems to like referencing him in all caps) was the start of their new "Master Builder Junior" line.

The first problem I had was right out of the box where his eyes were unglued from his stock face. Then you have the hinge at his ab crunch which is this strange gummy rubber (rubber like?) material that just seems like a time bomb for breaking.

Oddly enough I haven't had any chipping of the chrome on his feet yet, and I certainly play with mine enough. I don't know if anyone else has experienced any.

As someone that owns both XTB and FT I say FT Roadking is the better of the two. Unfortunitly, he's long sold out. FT may do a reissue when they finally release Deadend and the combiner skeleton, but you may have a long wait.
