The main reason for Roboto's problem is that when they welded the two halves of his torso together the pins were too tight, so they are constantly applying pressure to both sides of the torso. You can usually see that the cracks are spreading out from the peg holders, and they will just keep growing over the years. Eventually his torso cracks from the passive tension.
The problem with goddess is allegedly (I'm only going off a
he-man.org post here so take with a grain of salt) that they mixed the paint into the translucent plastic while casting in such a way that the plastic is riddled with micro cracks that eventually just make it fall apart, similar to "Gold Plastic Syndrome".
