Again, those minorities affected shit all, because they were only a vocal minority.
We still got our toys, our movies, our video games, and a lot of companies rubbed it in the noses of so many krazy khristians. The worst we got was toothless rating systems and stickers warning of bad words. MK having green blood was a Nintendo thing, while the more popular SEGA system got the red blood.
Maybe shit was different in your flyover towns with your snake handling religious parents, but in real cities in states that aren't sparsely populated, kids enjoyed all the great satanic video games, toys, and rated R movies.
PS, the Genesis was more popular than the SNES in the US, thanks to not censoring shit like MK or Street Fighter. That popularity continued on until SEGA started to switch to the next generation and it was only after this that the SNES caught up in sales
