Got Omega Ranger coming in the mail in the next couple of days and I plan on giving him the unmasked Blaze head.

Also, still need to score and extra Red and Blue SPD Ranger for the inevitable Bridge Carson release so I can have Bridge as both the Blue, Red, and Green Ranger.

something snapped in my brain and I jumped back on the train, i opened up the ranger slayer i had sitting around for the last few months and took advantage of the gamestop sale with $19 monsters and $32 2 packs, the only one that seems to have totally vaporised is evil green ranger. i thought I'd be able to find him with the spectrum figures at target but every single target i went to had 1 regular DT red and 2 regular MMPR white as their LC selection, gamestop ftw though, except that one i went to where the guy told me they weren't on sale even though they were and insisted I submit to the bag promo to get the 20% off, i bought the same figs at the next store. now I'm all caught up besides the psychos and omega until August,

I have garbage distribution where I'm at. Wal-Mart only had the black centric Beast Morphers adaptation wave and we missed countess waves as the black Red/Blue Beast Morpher Ranger clogged shelves with no end in sight and after the post-Xmas restock, we don't have ANY Lightning Series PR figures on the shelf period.

As for Gamestop, it was random as shit as waves got skipped and yet, you'd get random figures making the shelf. I ended up getting MMPR Billy and Zeo Rocky purely by chance about 4-5 months after their release; same with the Zedd/Rita box set.

It got so bad I finally had to start breaking down and buying shit loose online since I was never going to find the figures in store.

The chief reason why SPD is so popular with fans is that it's a show that panders to both gays and right wingers. Gays love Bridge and Sky (both of which are white BTW) and ship them HARD, while right wingers like SPD because it's shockingly red pilled on affirmative action since it's the only post-Tommy show where the main lead is a non-Red Ranger (Sky, who is Blue Ranger) and that the entire show revolves around Sky getting screwed over and Jack (a homeless conman black guy, who along with the Yellow SPD Ranger, was taken off the street and made to join the Power Rangers to avoid prison) getting made Red Ranger and team leader, all because the alien dog heard Sky make a sexist remark about how they'd never make the Red SPD Ranger a woman as he was being groomed to be made Red Ranger, like his dad. Making Jack a literal affirmative action hire; with the pay-off being that he quits the Power Rangers first chance he can and Sky being taught to hide his power level to finally get promoted to Red Ranger.

Gays hate Jack because he stole Sky's position and they want Sky/Bridge to run the team as a gay couple, while conservatives hate Jack because he's a warning about affirmative action/tokenism and the show explicitly is written to make you root for Sky over Jack.

The producers in charge at the time even know Jack is unpopular, which is why when the actor declined to come back for one of the anniversary shows due to him having other commitments acting-wise that kept him from coming back, they simply called up the actor who played Bridge and got him to be the new Red SPD Ranger; which only further made people prefer Sky or Bridge as "THE" Red SPD Ranger.

I also don’t hate Jack because I assumed that he and Z were the “inexperienced” flavor added to the cast, similar to, idk, Miles Morales as Spider-Man, or even Justin on the Turbo team.

Also, I heard that Jack’s actor didn’t want to come back for Once a Ranger because Dino Thunder Yellow/Kira’s actor was dating him previously and they broke up. She got invited back for the team up, he said no because he didn’t want to work with his ex, and Sky’s actor was the one who was busy.

On a side note; I really do hope they do give us Bridge and make him a mass release. Part of me was afraid he'd get omitted from the Lightning Collection given the close connection between Saban and Hasbro and how Saban fucking hate Matt Austin (Bridge's actor), because dared publicly stand up to Saban when Saban shat all over the Disney season casts when they reacquired the brand and even started floating the idea that they were going to declare the Disney seasons non-canon in Power Ranger lore.

Hopefully he's a mass release and not a convention or Walgreens exclusive type figure.

Best characters:

Andros/Astronema: Andros is the Red In Space Ranger, who is a freedom fighter who is fighting the big bad that Rita, Zed, Master Vile, Machine Empire, Divatox all work for and who kidnapped his sister when they were young. Astronema is said sister, turned into the big bad's second in command and who is part cyborg and brainwashed-crazy.

Wes: Red Time Force Ranger; spoiled sweet rich kid who desperately wants a purpose in life that isn't running his dad's company as a soulless corporate suit. His descendent in the future is a Power Ranger who was mortally wounded by an escaped criminal who goes back to the past and said relative's teammate recruits him to fill in as the new Time Force Red Ranger and deals with stopping said future villain and a former childhood friend, who becomes a mercenary sixth Ranger who has his own agenda.

Sky: Blue SPD Ranger; got passed over as Red Ranger because he made a quip about how the Red Ranger should not be a woman (which was ironic, as SPD had an evil turncoat group of Rangers who's leader was a female Red Ranger). Has daddy issues as his dad was a Power Ranger that wore a costume similar to Wes's and who was killed by a murderous alien. Also is a mutant and can create force fields

Leo: Red Lost Galaxy Ranger. Was part of the security force for a floating space colony that left Earth to go into space. Finds alien swords that give the Lost Galaxy Rangers their powers. His brother Mike is the second Magna Defender; an armored knight figure who takes over the role of Magna Defender after the original merges with him when he is mortally wounded.

Mine can barely stand regardless because the foot ratchets either point too far down or too far up to have her in a straight standing non-action pose. I've noticed this issue with other Hasbro figures as well.

Kat was the science officer of SPD, with most of the romantic tension on SPD between her and Anubis; though they don't get together in the end. She ends up briefly becoming a Ranger towards the end of the show, though IIRC she never got an action figure of her Ranger form.

"Boom" was Kat's aid; he flunked out of SPD academy but got work as Kat's aid and his nickname came from how all of the stuff he created exploded on him. He had a fantasy sequence episode where he became SPD Orange Ranger when his parents came by to visit him and he had to tell them he failed the Academy everyone humored Boom in pretending he was a ranger to keep his parents from finding out he was a failure.

Is there a reason for there being no Ninja Storm figures? It was a season which pretty much resurrected interest in the franchise and gave us Cam, one of the more popular Sixth Rangers.

Blame Nickelodeon. They only want 20 episodes a year so it's a choice of either stretching the show out over two years or pulling a Megaforce. They're also the reason why the BM and DF theme songs are only 30 seconds long.

do you guys ever buy third party accessories for your ranger collection? I've been looking at the stuff on etsy like Bandora Palace and Zedd's throne ever since they came out, but I can't do it. I do it for my dragonball because those figures are about as good as it gets, but buying a $20+ accessory for a $20 figure seems kind of wrong when they will likely rerelease, retool, and malibustacy everything, like a quantity over quality thing.

has hasbro said they're going to do another combiner megazord from MMPR? I picked up the Dino Megazord when it first came out and it's not amazing but I'd be curious to see what they would do with Thunder/Ninja/Shogun or god forbid do something other than MMPR.

Thunder Megazord has never been hard to get. At 200 bucks, it was way too high for casuals and the hardcore consumers waited until TRU would put it on sale. Plus Bandai rereleased it during their final days of having the license so odds are tons of small distributors were still sitting on some stock.

It's licensed out to Altaya by Hasbro, so not actually Hasbro. Seems to be a subscription based magazine type product where they send you parts periodically to eventually put together the whole Megazord (over 2 years before the whole thing is complete).

I was reading an interview with the guy who played Andros and he said Saban specifically told them not to take anything from the set with them and that JDF would constantly take stuff from the set without asking. I think he should take whatever he wants from a set honestly since he's the biggest draw of the entire franchise to this day, i think they recouped whatever he took in merchandise

He must've been asked that question several times. I watched an interview with him where he was asked if he still has any old props and he mentioned during his time on the show, they would take inventory of props at the end of each shooting day and couldn't leave if even one was missing.
Finally enough, he was asked because Tracy Lynn Cruz has her communicator prop and he assured she probably stole it from the set.

Just depends. Some are way too flat/thin, but some are more rounded. I think the first wave of them got the heads compressed somehow during production. I heated mine and squeezed it into a wider shape then stuck it in the freezer for a day or so to keep the shape.

I used Gwen Stacy since I had already bought one for a different custom, and Astronema's flat feet were better suited for that one so it was a two-way swap for me. Though the Gwen feet are maybe a bit on the small side for Astronema, so while they still help with the height, they could be better and I'll be keeping my eye open for other options.

Randomly found two Dragon Shield Blacks at two different Walgreens (four total). If you still need him I guess it's worth checking. By the time I saw the belt and Zack head of the standard version were worse and wanted him he was gone everywhere, so I was glad to be able to pick one up, and they were giving a $5 reward credit with a $20 purchase which lessened the blow.

The question is what do I do with the figure itself once I swap the good belt onto the standard version? It's such a brief/random moment in the show that I can't ever see myself displaying it. I was thinking about removing the shield and cutting off/drilling out the armbands so they can be worn by any male Ranger, but that would leave me with a figure without biceps I couldn't really do anything with. I've been trying to think of a custom it would be good for.

Every Gamestop I went to had MMPR black during that presidents day sale, be careful of the silver paint on the helmet snout, I saw some really bad ones, even the one I thought was best rurned out to be more to the left than right. i guess i don't feel bad about customizing any of them since they all come out at least a little half-assed. Didn't SPD green get the dragon shield? i guess if that was the custom you were going for, you might as well get a green one instead lol

I don’t think so. My rationale is largely “can a kid draw it with crayons from memory?” And Zyuranger was good as gold for that. It’s memorable, flashy without being too detailed, and it holds up over time. I think stuff like Lost Galaxy tried for something similar and got a little lost, and while I think other suits look better, like Lightspeed for instance, MMPR has a lot of personality.

I would just get white and black, whenever he comes out, they really shitted up red and blue, like painting blue's morpher white!? just don't paint it and it'll be more accurate, and red's is red, but they gave it an inkwash so it looks battered and who wants their morpher to look like shit unless it's one of the Nomm Tommys?

SPD Pink just arrived and she's pretty nicely painted overall, but the torso and limbs are different shades of pink again. She's got good range of motion in the legs and arms, but her knees are rubbery as can be. And while I'm still annoyed with the decision to give her a decal on her shoulder instead of sculpting the emblem, my biggest complaint by far is this god awful morpher/badge they gave her that doesn't match any of the others.

No, but Super7 are doing Zords in their 7" line. Won't be transformable though. Super Minipla are about 6 inches and transform, but they're model kids and can be expensive if you miss their initial availability.

Amazon just got some Legacy Thunder Megazords in for retail. It's a good set, especially with the White Tigerzord. Hopefully it's the revised release with the better supports for the knees when in Megazord mode.

I tend to do okay with Target exclusives, I can generally always find them in stores and ordering them online has never been an issue. Walmart exclusives on the other hand are a constant thorn in my side. Finding them in store is pretty much impossible, and It doesn't help when you're lucky enough to pre-order them online, only for Walmart to cancel your order after repeated delays.

That's a widespread issue with every replacement helmet I've seen. It's a special kind of fuck you when the fixed helmet is screwed up in a new type of way, but people just accept it because it's not as bad as the previous screw up. The Lightning Collection is the toyline equivalent of battered wife syndrome.
