Some bootlegs are great, the mafex venom it's fantastic, i also have revoltech Carnage and a figma jeanne, they're all good.

The Mezco bootlegs are ok too but they need work.

My only experience is transformers bootlegs and lot of those are fantastic and some even drastically improve them and are more like 3rd party toys then bootlegs. Always assumed geometric robots are easier to reproduce then the curves of human characters

Nothing to do with them being robots or not (if anything I'd argue they're harder to KO because it's tons of moving parts and pins). It's just that the Transformers market is really big and has a good third-party scene that's more than happy to shell out $600 for a combiner set.
Same thing with anime statues, the GK scene for those are huge (literally speaking as well, since you can buy 1/4 scale behemoths that are 50 pounds or some shit).
