This thread reminds me that I still have the toybiz Gandalf the white and a uruk-hai berserker from when I was a kid. I think I stopped getting more of the line because Gandalf's sword hilt snapped off really easily and I lost it, while the uruk-hai's helmet strap snapped partially off. Made it easier to get the helmet on and off but I didn't like how my toys were breaking and I figured they were just fragile enough that I shouldn't bother anymore.

Did I miss out on much? Were the other figures good? I was just looking at some pics of them online and I thought it was cute that Frodo came with a one ring replica and a little stand for it. Guess I kinda wish I had asked my mom for a few more orcs/goblins/uruk-hai and human warriors at least, since I doubt we'll be getting many forces of Mordor or riders of Rohan or warriors of Gondor any time soon.

The old toy biz stuff was honestly some of the best figures around at the time. Nice packaging, good sculpts on bodys and armour, butt loads of weapons and accessories, and fully fleshed out lines. Pretty much every character on screen got a figure. The only areas it doesn't perform well is articulation and face sculpts. And we'll never see anything like it again

This. They've been surpassed now but looking back they were nice. That big ass balrog and treebeard are still pretty much the only two figures of those characters that weren't insanely expensive statueshit.

I'm still mad nobody has tackled them again in toy form.

Shame the articulation engineering was dogshit an the paint was classic ToyBiz "SLATHER IT IN WASHES AND DRYBRUSHES IT'S THE ONLY WAY" junk.

Compared to what else was available at the time it was fine.

Japan will charge a ln arm and a leg for slightly stylized figures that won't scale with anything. If it's not an anime girl face they have trouble with it.
