>>8849051I recommend something from Sunguts, they're mostly small, relatively easy to get compared to most sofubi, generally cheap (sold at most shows for around $35, able to be found on aftermarket for $40-80), and often have bright, creative colors and glass like finishes that is among the best of sofubi. Plus they are just charming with lots of interesting designs.
What they are not is articulated, most of them are only 2 or 3 peices and you get like, a head turn or some arms out of them.
There's a lot of show stopping stuff in sofubi, really wild insane things that if anyone saw them regardless of what they like they'd enjoy or at least appreciate. The thing with these items are that they're incredibly rare and incredibly expensive. These are usually hand made items made by one or two people, and can take months to make and paint and when they're finally ready there's like 25 of them and 2000 people that want them.
This is all a long way of saying that there's lots of stuff out there, but most of it *is* exactly what you expressed concern about, relatively simple looking toys with very little articulation. However they are usually well made, charming, will last forever, and are constantly making things that you will never see in any other toy space, especially a mass market one. Part of the fun is the uniqueness, rarity and handmade nature of the toys.
I often find that many peoples trajectory of toys goes something like whatever toys you had as a kid>mass market stuff found at walmart, target, toysrus>collector lines, import stuff>high end hot toys, 3A, statues> plummet back to earth with sofubi. It's like after years of demanding more and more detail and more and more articulation you may reach a point where you're just looking for something fun, something new, something that can't be had in any of those other items in the list. Just look around a bit and find something that looks cool to you. There's so much out there.
