My mother is a doll collector, so she gets it. My father thinks it's stupid, but he also thinks everything that isn't drinking and hunting isn't worth doing. I pay my own bills, and don't really care what he thinks of my hobbies.

My mom thinks the creative side of collecting is cool (photography and other stuff like that). My dad thinks it's dumb, but he's the kind of guy, if we went to the same high school, would've bullied me, so take that for what you will. My brother thinks it's neat and has even gifted me some cool pieces for Christmas and birthday like SHF Shenron and the NECA street diorama. My sister and I barely talk so she doesn't give a fuck. My roommate think it's cool and my friends are generally interested when I get a figure from a property they enjoy.

Generally I try to keep my autism in check so my collection is one part of a pretty active life, instead of consuming it. Neither my family or friends are that bothered by my figures cause I only keep a few on display at once. My gf thinks its rad though and is always asking what I have my eye on next. It's pretty sweet.

Which is weird considering he collects hotwheels and marvel toys and tons of other stuff. But he'll throw shade about anything, and it's not too serious

My husband gives me artistic feedback on my displays and styling, which I appreciate. He doesn't want toys to overtake our room but I don't either, so it's kept under control

My friends like seeing the crafty stuff I'm working on that's toy-related, so I'll show em off during our discord hangouts sometimes. I try not to overshare just cause I'm self conscious of making people bored but my friends are weird too so I don't think they'd ever judge me too badly even though we all have different weird hobbies.

My father's side of the family though... My dad always thought any form of entertainment was a waste (I know he now lives without cable TV and an internet connection, just his phone me his data plan) His sister used to tell me that I was too old for toys when I was fucking 14... I never got along with them.

Dad keeps telling me to stop buying, which I try to do (I just wanted to stop buying videogames), so now I'm trying to sell a bunch of old kits I built since that's the only thing I do with them for killing time and stress relief (I'm a fucking physical and mental wreck). Mother knows i love collecting Star Wars stuff and actively encourages me to do it and thinks i should keep them all boxed.

I have recently got my Uncle into collecting figures andh e's in the process of buying loads of NECA stuff. My little cousin also loves Godzilla at the moment so i spend alot of time looking for cool Godzilla toys for him etc.

My grandfather loves Dr. Who and has loads of Daleks.

So i guess everyone around me is pretty supportive. I work hard for my money and it makes me happy so i think everyone else is happy about that.
