being fair to them I have a few of their 1/18th figures and they are okay, but they are really lacking detail and articulation for the price point compared to other boutique lines. These designs look worse than their smaller counterparts. Hard pass

I like some of these.
They also mention

There are definitely lizards, turtles, and all that stuff in the series, but obviously that doesn't lend well to re-use, so they'd probably come eventually. The Savage is the Gorilla, and probably other large mammals. Would love to get a large croc eventually.

I do find the following line odd

They outright say this but there's no difference in price, but I'd imagine the higher profits on the army builders are to offset the cost for the better painted figures at the same price tier.

In case you guys are actually worried about this and also interested, there were 2 previous KS for this series in 4" scale, and they've all been sent out (the Deluxe figures are in the process of being sent out).

As far as I'm aware the only action figure KS that took the money and went was the Blanks and Army Alphas, which is really unfortunate. I assume something bad happened during production, but the guy just shut himself out instead of trying to explain anything. I'm sure that's left a lot of people weary about KS, but for the most part all the action figure KS end up delivering.

The fact that you're calling reptilians 'scales'... And the primary characters are mammals, but he has expressed wanting to get to reptiles, birds, etc. So basically, nothing was 'jumped', just the nature of these indie toys relies on re-use, so that's why we're getting these furry mammals together, unless you want furry lizards for whatever reason.

Also it's worth noting that these guys are quite large, not a flat 6". They seem to be a lot closer, if even a bit bigger, than the MOTUC/Ultimates/7" scale.

I got my deluxe figures a few days ago. The plastic they use in the deluxe figures is 100 times better. I was not impressed by the 1st kickstarter figures but the deluxe figures are solid. Much more detailed, well articulated and they feel solid.

Look, I love lizards, turtles, and other reptiles, but realistically most people seem to prefer mammals. Why? I dunno, maybe they prefer warm things, but that's fine, cause mammals are also nice, just that reptiles are better.

Not that guy, but as far as I know this is the first we've heard of any of these showing up, so it is a bit surprising and skepticism made some sense. I don't recall any "theyre shipping out now!" from a KS update either.

They look quite nice even from that pic though. Definitely a step up from the regular 4" line.

The protagonists and antagonists are both apes (plus one lion and I guess tiger if he's a main character), so it makes sense that they comprise the majority of the first assortment. There are 2 to 3 of any given parts of these figures (aside from the heads), so there's a decent amount of variation. The fully armored body, if it got some new arms (just cause the armored shoulder pad seems too specific to the apes), and some new hands and feet could easily be a non-mammalian. But for now, including the stretch goals, all mammals surely, with probably a dog or two in the mix since it says "canines" plural.

Also in a recent interview he said that female characters (the main one also being an ape) would probably be released around a wave 3.5, so quite a way's away (I guess unless this campaign just does extremely well).
Otherwise I'm just getting info from the KS page, comments, or interviews that I happened to have seen.

I knew of this line when it had it's 4" releases, but had no interest in it because I don't really collect fantasy figures in that size. But my 1:12 stuff is way more varied and these guys look like they'll be a lot of fun. The weapon packs are must haves, though I'm sad the gold one from the video seems to be a still hidden stretch goal, as that has the best load out imo. Maybe because it's still early in it's run, but this KS seems far more limited in focus then previous KS run by these guys.

Shame they don't throw in the alt heads like they've done on previous waves, that kind of thing really adds extra value to these figures, and at 30+ a pop, that kind of boost is really needed. Still, I'll probably grab a trio or so of these guys, maybe more if they reveal cool stretch goals.

Don't be like that, especially when part of the AWOK campaign was about buying multiple of the same characters so that you can have multiple characters with 2 purchases of the same figure, and different heads for army builders. For example, the deluxe Orangutan came with the orangutan head and the moose head and hooves so that you could either buy 2 and have 2 characters, or buy one and have either character.

That said, the purpose of no extra heads and no extra hands but extra weapons was to keep costs down to keep it "competitive", as he's said. One thing that would be nice, would be some more weapon storage, as just Pale has the ability to holster one of his weapons.

Yes, it can suck to have a bin full of useless accessories, but that's part and parcel of being a toy collector. And seeing as none of these figures seem to have built in weapon storage on em, I'll have a parts bin for these guys regardless.

More stretch goals will be added in as time goes on, I think 2 more figures and more weapon or head sets. Gorilla will be added in as a far off stretch goal once they show off the rest, though I don't think there's any form of prototype to be shown at this time. Probably no lizard-folk at this time.

I'm happy with more cat people. Not my main choice, but I prefer them over the apes I guess. The white tiger and lynx look good enough for me to be happy with a trio of these guys at the end of this KS. Though something tells me all the best stuff will be revealed in the next few days.

My issue with the white tiger is that the bare torso feels very ape-like, and the different colors on Pale's torso make the look work quite well. I guess I think it'd be a good choice if there was a furry torso too, and you could then add those tiger stripes on the torso too, and it would look more cohesive overall than just a flat white across the whole torso with some stripes on the furry parts.

The Lynx looks very makeshift, like a scavenger, so that's an interesting look. Puma has a gladitorial look. I'd rather see the prototypes before deciding if I like them or not, and their weapon layout.

I kinda dig the designs, but the monkey proportions don't work here. They just look strangely small-legged, and it's kind of distractingly offputting. I doubt this will change though since it would require making a new mold for either the upper or lower half of the body, and that would be expensive.

The faces of the main two apes certainly do look a bit cartoonish, especially when compared to their 4" versions, but overall the genericness of their design works imo. They can fit in with other lines real easy and not look out of place, regardless of it's a space fantasy furry adventure, super hero jungle drama, or sword and sorcery fantasy epic. But I'm a fan of mixing lines so that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Here's the wolf they teased. I'm not big on the Fox. The black is also a bit boring, especially with the monotonous armor. Cool head though.

It makes sense, more money means more money for tooling (at least that's how it's supposed to be) and with more tooling comes new heads and new parts. Would be interesting to see some new weapons too. Posting the fox too for the sake of completion. At least I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a fox. A bit odd that none of them have tails, but I guess they aren't really animals either in the canon.

Shipping is the base fee they charge when you select an item (I see $11 for the 3-pack), and for international buyers, each additional item you add is a $1 extra. Very fair compared to some other KS.

They made Gorilla and other great ape as a larger size class for their smaller scale line, so if this one is successful I'm sure they'd do something similar for this one. They also made head/foot swaps so the bulky body could double as things like buffalo and elephants and stuff.

Here are the prototype shots for the Lynx and Puma. The Puma still isn't doing much for me, but the Lynx looks really good. Good weapon choices too, makes him feel like a mercernary or scavenger.

Yes! The Lynx looks awesome. Was kinda hoping for other weapons, the small axes and crossbow specifically, but I'll be buying weapon packs anyway (also seems like the weapons aren't final and there's voting for them?). Puma is not great though.

Well the Lynx just made my list, the Puma not so much. It's not just his head either, I'm not big on the alternating color scheme. I mean, the Lynx has it too, but his is more subdued and works much better. I also don't plan on giving the Lynx a gun, but I won't say it doesn't fit him. Hopefully the throwing axe wins the vote, because that's one of the few weapons I want that aren't in the weapon pack add-on I plan to get.

Overall, these figures are looking really solid, and their accessories look great. Now they just need straps to stow em.

I agree about weapon storage. It'd be a nice stretch goal addition like the extra hands, just a simple strap with a hole in them big enough to fit most handles (for the axe) or blades. I've seen it brought up a few times, but there isn't much chatter about it on the KS.

With just under 20 days to, 300k is an easy target. KS like this usually double themselves in the last 48 hours, especially if the runners have a history of delivering good figures. Once those blanks unlock, I can see a lot of people reworking pledges, especially if they sell armor sets as well.

His weapon has always been a large hammer, so I'm betting it's that. The deluxe figures in the 1/18 line usually had one weapon, with some exceptions, but who knows how the loadout would work with this line. Would be cool to see the Lion king on the deluxe body, like there was a lion in the 1/18 deluxe figures (though I'm not sure if that was the king or some other character).

yeah, that confused me too. As you said, I imagine he's originally from there and it's really more for categorizing rather than showing true allegiance.

Holy crap, that's some pretty awesome news. Blank figures being cheaper custom fodder are always nice, but unless you're halfway decent at painting, the faces can be a huge problem. But if they at least come with facepaint, the rest of the figure being unpainted shouldn't be an issue at all. Now they just need to offer armor packs as well and I'll probably invest in some troop builder figures or something.

I agree about the ears but he looks a lot older, and I guess if that fits his character better that's ok. The Puma looks a lot better, but overall still kind of a boring face. Some emotive heads for these guys would have been cool. Pale has his smirk, Kah Lee his frown, Atreiu his scowl, Tiberius his smile, there's personality there, even the Lynx has some with a bit of a scowl, but the Puma is kinda just there.

The Head-Pack 3? I assume much like the other head packs that these ones are just repainted versions of these heads. I'm not sure what the White Lion head would be, as I've assume they're talking about Tiberius's head repainted (as it is in the "adventurer heads pack"), but Vero already has that head in white.

I wouldn't call it silly to have 2 ranged weapons, what if the gun jammed up, switch to the crossbow. If the crossbow jams up, reach for the knife (kinda like a real soldier might with a rifle, handgun, and knife).

I'm pretty happy with the crossbow, as I wasn't interested in Tiberius, and the more different weapons from the assortment I grab the better.

Worth noting that Jason mentioned that the "Primal Ancients" will likely come with at least one likely mono-colored weapon, and perhaps alternate hands. Maybe even ape hands and ape feet? It would be a bit strange if the blanks can only be made feline or ape, so you couldn't have a chimpanzee from this black colored blank, for example.

The original Atreiu was basically a direct Lion-O homage. That lion man shares a basic color scheme, so I guess it's also a bit of an homage? But his overall look is so different that I hadn't really thought about it.
I think it's good that the new Atreiu is its own design.

Just adding that small bit of paint to their faces and a minimum amount of armor makes these figures far more appealing. I don't paint figures (yet) so solid color blanks are usually something I ignore. It'll definitely get unlocked, whether throughout the remainder of the campaign or via the backerkit. Based on the Beasts of the Mesozoic campaign, it seems like a lot more money comes in after the actual funding is done, especially when the project creators open them as regular preorders.

This is my current plan. I want a somewhat contained addition to my Mythic Legions.
I'm tempted to add the black panther blank (Ancient Onyx), but I'm not entirely sold on the idea of an unarmored, agile looking feline that has no dedicated digitigrade feet option.

There are quite a few felines in Mythic Legions, this one could possibly be a slave of the apes here. Plus if you give the ape guards their spears, you could give dual daggers to the panther. The Ancients are a good way to find use for those extra weapons.

It's kind of weird how the Ancient Chunari has the harness that can holster weapons, but the other Ancients don't come with it. Unless they do. They supposedly will come with extra hands too, so idk.

There should have been some sort of consolidation of accessories that everything comes with, Lexion and Doon don't even show their 3rd accessories, and Pale doesn't show his 2 new knives. And also mention of the hands. Doesn't seem like the extra hands are even mentioned outside of the KS update.

Given the format of the campaign and the kind of pledges available I think he is an Add-on only. So you'd have to go in for at least one of the $33 (or $30 if you're at 3 or more) figures, then $45 for Thane.

Those 2 are probably my favorite of the basic figures. You don't have to pick yet if you're set on Thane, just grab the base figure cost and you'll be able to make your pick in the Backer Kit. Depends what you want to do with that $33 figure, you could get a buddy for Thane, something that fits with other stuff you collect, an antagonist, whatever.

He's already talked about them, but they certainly deserve some mention. 360k? That's impressive. Outside of Articulated Icons, which this campaign exceeded in terms of overall money raised, and Mythic Legions, (and of course Spawn, but it wouldn't be fair to count that) no other KS, especially recent ones, has come close to raising this much.

Got the 3 figure pack, which will probably be Kah Lee, Atreiu, and Monke Legionary.
Plus Lexion, Khor Doon, Thane and a couple of weapons packs.
