Apart from the usual other 3 Aquanaut sets, I'd say this Hydronaut set is pretty cool.
You can easily swap out the transparent parts for Aquanaut ones. Maybe I'll do it.

Why are HP sets so hated here? They're miles more soulful than all of the licensed sets and even more than most of the new releases. The new castle looks great and the minifigs can actually be fun to collect. Shame I couldn't find a better picture of the leak.

Was discussing the Harry Potter theme. All i wanted to know is why this thread always seems to shit on it despite being nostalgic for castles and grounded ghosts and the like.

The Harry Potter theme is the only area scratching this itch at the moment. The rumored Hogsmeade is probably going to end up with a new Shrieking shack model, man I hope that'll be good.

There's so much potential with this franchise. It really is too bad that kids are running to Ninjago instead. I'll never understand it.

I just want to be able to tell my own original stories with my Lego, not just retell a book or movie. Yes I could just toss the instructions and build what I want but then I still only have a bunch of flesh tone figures of discuss named characters and a bunch of super specialized to that liscence prints and pieces.

Nope its fine, first couple were comfy then JKR fucked up by introducing time travel without thinking it through properly, many plot holes ensued, the rest have their moments though the ending is shit. eventually JKR redeemed herself by pissing off trannies. It still gives us many desirable fantasy lego elements and there is a creator castle coming so whatever.

I love castle but zero interest in Harry Potter stuff.

All of the minifigs are useless to me. I want an army of knights and soldiers, not 10 Harry Potters. The tan and sand green is mostly incompatible with the standard castle colors of greys, blacks, etc.

I do think the theme has some quality sets, but there's just so much of it. License stuff cannibalized most all original themes.

The line by itself is good, it has a lot of these little details that any /lg/ autist would classify as "soulful" if they were fans or at least had extensive knowledge of the books. As far a a line based on children's books it has actual dedication put into their sets. Which is a good thing.

The problem is that much of its popularity nowadays comes from an entire generation of people who not only grew up with the books, but also allowed themselves to either fall into the rabbit hole of the books' universe and and rules, or stunted their own understanding of the real world by tying everything that happens around them to the books and drawing parallels to everything they read.

tl;dr the line is okay, it's the fans fault, much like MLP back in their day.

This reminds me of why I absolutely hate molded LEGO planes. Nothing against your creation, I see it works for you in your stratosphere jet, but in general I think LEGO passenger planes have really bad and stupid rear sections. They are way too sharp and cut short - unlike real jets where whole rear is gently bending towards the tail - pic related. It's especially visible with these 6 and 8 wide pre-molded jets.

LEGO Boeing set got it right but it's obviously not for City scale minifigs and it weights a lot, not a great play toy for kids, not a great display model for adults either. Still I think LEGO needs to work on better plane rear/tail designs.

I think it's because lego makes nasa stuff all the time. I get that the space shuttle and saturn V translates well into toys but I can imagine it's frustrating to some people that lego is willing to make a bunch of star wars stuff, a bunch of "real" space stuff, but then decide not to make any of their own in-house space stuff.

It's a well known fact that the supreme cadfags at TLG are given very little reference material for marvelshit sets. In some extreme cases they are given concept sketches or references from very early production stages, this reflects in some movies getting sets based on scenes that didn't make the cut in the theater version. Some other times they are given drugs, and we get pic related.

>Not printed pants
Getting super detailed torsos for some characters, but no printing or at least dual moulding for their legs. Some times these get fixed in later iterations or are switched (shitty prints with better detailed legs or arms) and it comes to the point where it seems intentional.

>Faces
Prone to be reused, more notorious with Iron Man and Star Lord from GoTG, whose face was also reused for Winter Soldier IIRC. Non-superhero characters have a limited selection for faces, as if being fleshies wasn't enough of a problem for some people.

The pic should also list the many shitty play features that end up damaging the minifigs over time, like the Super Jumper. I believe the blue blasts that attaches to the hands do this too.

How is the Lego stop motion scene doing nowadays? I loved the sheer volume and creativity of mid-late 2000's brickfilms but I stopped watching them in the early 2010's when it felt like the community was dying. Though I guess the Lego community seems to be dying off too asides from the main forums.

Definitely not as alive as it was during early youtube; the only people still doing it seem to be Keshen8 and ForrestFire101, but Forrest and his gf had a kid together so that'd probably slow him down for a while

The sites I miss are MOCpages and Flickr, I used to browse those sites for hours as a kid when I was homeschooled; my mom would bring me to work with her and I'd sit in the spare office "doing schoolwork" (browsing Lego sites and Newgrounds)

Just picked this one up on a whim at my local toy store. I like it. You can see their using techniques they've learned from doing the licensed cars. I just hope we will see them do more like this over time. Its nice to see a different looking car that still fits in with city, but has nice body detailing. I feel a lot of the newer city cars are starting to get better, especially the City Adventures sets. I don't care for the dumb new road parts, but the buildings and cars are looking good this wave.

I differentiate between stud width and actual width, The stud width for Tiny Turbos for example is 4-wide, but for actual width mose range between 5 and 6 studs.
The stud width is more relevant when discussing the interious and how many detail and figs it should be able to contain.
The total width is more relevant when discussing how unfitting lego's new street system is.

So after some anons here were bragging about getting some new Black Falcons parts on Bricks and Pieces I have been randomly checking to see if they are available and all of a sudden looking at Bricks and Pieces and placing huge orders is as addicting as bricklink. My first big order was because the shields were available, and then today I saw the new 1x4 wood grain patterned tile was available and I bought a bunch of them and padded the order with tons of other stuff. Then right now just before I go to bed I decide to check one more time and see the torsos finally available for the first time for me so I got 10 of them. The legs have always been unavailable though damnit. Why is it so addicting bros? Is it because I feel like I am getting a "deal"? Is it because the Lego is brand fucking new?

it's probably because it's refreshing to see lego pieces being affordable (unless they are VERY rare pieces or in bionicle's case, iconic masks in specific gold colors) in Bricklink that impulses us to get as much as we want or to meet the buying minimum (usually 2 or 5 dollars) only to then have shipping & handling bite us in the ass, depending on the weight of the package or other factors.

i realized i paid 58 dollars on all the hauls i've ordered so far, and 58 in shipping and taxes, AND this is the first time i'm buying in bricklink after so long! which i only just used it to build my custom minifig!

I like this too,
I would've used trans-light-blue for the waterfall.
But what it's really missing a classic knight, with the movable visor, I always wanted one of those, but I never got any sets when I was younger and no set came out with it ever since I am a working adult

This one? Was built for my little squad of Stingrays, but with a greater emphasis on red than the other colors of their scheme. I like how the one man sub pod and larger sub turned out, not quite satisfied with the rest though. Someday I'll probably rework the whole thing, it's inspired by the DFD design and I want to retain that but the side "fighters" and engines module could be better.
