>>8902455>kaiju really is aesthetics, design and cultural, and one that cant be emulated outside of japanThis can't really be defined... and given how wide a berth of different Kaiju there are, I don't know if this is even a valid way of thinking. I bet when Gigan was a thing some people (including Japanese Godzilla fans who probably took things a bit too seriously) were wondering wtf it was compared to some of the more animal Kaiju, whereas its a big space lizard with a visor and scythes for arms, not a very typical 'kaiju'. And if you say it fits the 'aesthetic', then that can just go on and on. And what about Shin Godzilla? That's a far cry from the usual aesthetic. Hedorah? And this isn't even accounting for the huge aesthetic changes between the original Toho monsters from a half century ago to the ones we have today.
>i have an opinion that using japanese words wrongly is gay and lameThen this would apply not just to Japanese words. Would you then say that Boku no Hero Academia can't use the English word 'hero', and that the characters from that series don't fit with the 'proper' Western aesthetic for a hero? Lots of cultures borrow words from others, and this is a rabbit hole that would probably go deeper than you'd like.
Anyways, 'kaiju' was used to describe Starro as a joke and was not used in any measure of a serious context. If it makes you feel better, the Godzilla and Kong movies refer to the giant monsters as 'Titans'.
