Gunpla sucks now, most of the HG releases are Build shit and the actual good mechas from real war universes are mostly locked behind P-Bandai. MGs and even PGs are moving away from articulated fingers, I know some people hate them but there's no reason they couldn't give you both sculpted and articulated hands. Don't get me wrong, western toys suck all the same but the point is nothing doesn't suck anymore.

I'd say most of the HG releases are from the Build series, cuz he was two Build shows consecutively. Build real won't seem to release any, so if BanRise were to ever do another Gundam AU or S2 of some other AU then we'll jump right back in to less Build shit.

Moveable fingers were too far ahead of their time, fiddly shit you couldn't really paint safely, a novelty at best for non-painters and a nightmare for actual modelers, given time they can look great and be useful but for hg and mg's right now fuck off, they need more time so they can make them not so much of a fiddly chore.

Personally having BOTH pre-posed and static hands are best but they're cheapening out, hollows in the feet for a fucking hg, sure an actual model maker would fix that but it's not a good sign.

The p-bandai thing is really only a problem if your country doesn't have a p-bandai shop, which IS my problem, but americans and most asian countries have those so it's not so bad, they know the market has changed and to put them out in stores with the rest of shelf clogging and (if they still run toys R us or basically non-model shops stocking large amounts of gunpla) mark downs.

I'm actually going backwards, I'm hyper critical of myself, have limited access to paint supplies/work spaces (and money isn't the problem but circumstances) and work hours prevent me from even snap shitting it up.

I'm tempted to pay commissions to do some magic to my backlog and then stick to action figures or statues

No, If I want a toy, I buy a toy. If I want to build things then I build something useful and sturdy, not half-arse both those things.

no, i buy transformers to play with them and early 20th century armour models to paint and display.
