Does anyone else think the bandai classics lion-o far outclasses the super 7 figure? I think the bulk of their output was really good, and their only shortcomings were the gaping screw holes and pins.

I think they pretty much nailed it last time. They just fucked up with the time slot and couldn’t sell the toys because kids weren’t watching it.

The show was actually popular, I'm a zoomer btw, born in 2001. Anyway, the show creator said the real reason the show was cancelled was because lego made Chima which he believes it was going tocbe thundercats sets but lego came to CN with a cheaper alternative and lots of merchandise, more than thundercats and they agreed to do chima instead so they canned season 2 and the toy line which sold well.

If it isnt a continuation of Thundercats 2011 I wont care. After the abortion that was roar, I think the franchise is dead and buried. Nothing of note can ever again rise from this salted earth. I genuinely hope that 90s nostalgia starts taking effect soon so that the bulk of these 80s franchises can finally be eternally layed to rest.
On a lighter note, I highly recommend the recent DC Thundercats book and the wildstorm run. Both provided the exact thing I wanted. Namely, a revisiting of the franchise with it's goofy visuals in tact but with a slightly more serious narrative.

Gimme a break man, if the only way to "save" something now is to bend it over backwards in order to satisfy popular trends, let Thundercats and its contemporaries burn in a proverbial eternal damnation. The only things netflix voltron has in common with it's previous iterations is a few names and the cat robots. Go watch the 90's and 2000's attempts to revitalize it.

80s and 90s action cartoons were all just 30-min toy commercials and had so much creativity poured into the designs and gimmicks, but then it just died out over the last 20yrs or so in favor of just rebooting established ideas (Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc). Anything new is either shitty in design that doesn’t translate into 3D figures or it gets cancelled despite being ambitious in design and execution. It sucks that right now producers would rather stick with older franchises rebooting them for a better-guaranteed ROI than venture out with something new. Of course, ‘new’ ideas can flop (anyone remember ‘Butt-Ugly Martians’?) and those ventures cost studios and execs, but the west could potentially make new stuff that grows big fanbases if they just invested more in what made the rebooted franchises popular to begin with.
