>>8908261WB is well aware of all the shit it owns, but they're also well aware that they're not as popular as you think.
Better to take advantage of shit that they know is popular and will always sell (Tom and Jerry) than to try to re-develop an old failed series.
WB also asks for too much money for companies to make nostalgiamerch. Even then, after Jazware's failed Hanna Barbera lines, a lot of companies are wary of giving WB money.
Then there's the fact that WB is incredibly spiteful, with a bunch of different presidents for the different sub-companies who are all incredibly spiteful. For example: DC and Cartoon Network were butting heads, where Cartoon Network didn't want to air DC Nation, despite DC Nation being popular. Or how CN canceled Justice League Unlimited because it wasn't making money off of DC's merch sales.
Another example is how Babylon 5 got its budget cut because one of the WB execs hated JMS, and after JMS said he wouldn't make more shit on a cut budget, that exec(s) wouldn't allow ANYTHING else to be developed. So companies like Eaglemoss balked at WB's ridiculous asking price just to make spaceship toys.
However, with WB's sale to ATT, it seems that some of those execs are now gone, since Babylon 5 finally got a high def transfer.
Here's hoping Eaglemoss can now make the best spaceships ever.
