>>8914563 Depends on how much work you put in to her. Mine was a mess at first, but after significant modifications holds up just fine. Take a look at past threads to see full details, she has been discussed in depth.
The big take away though is to be extremely careful of the tolerances of the pearl parts, especially the cups of the ball joints.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>8911548 those are the leftover parts from executioner, you tend to end up with a lot of this type of stuff when companies remold kits to make new stuff.
Anonymous
>>8914570 I saw some of the discussion in past threads. I'm not sure if I want to make "significant modifications" to mine. If only because I usually don't paint my kits, and it would defeat the entire purpose of using pearl plastic if I was forced to due to having to reinforce connection points with putty.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>8914598 There is no need to reinforce anything with putty, I don't know where you came up with that idea. The pegs that arent hollow already can be drilled out and reinforced with copper rod, and the cups can be fixed by removing the detent before assembly. None of the necessary modifications are particularly invasive unless you are trying to reinforce the tentacle connecting armature which may require cutting a wedge out of the arm to glue a piece of pla plate in, and the only reason I can see to need to do that is if you want to mount the dx weapons to the ends of the tentacles, or to fix a break.
Again, read some of the threads from around her release, myself and several others have thoroughly picked apart all her potential issues.

This kit is fucking upsetting, there is so much good stuff here all ruined because the girl is a piece of shit. She could have been a brick with absolutely no movement in the torso and a great design and this would have been fantastic. Instead we have a malformed disaster as the base of the whole kit that has such poorly implemented articulation that it is intirely useless. Abdominal movement? The wired sculpt of the upper torso makes the ball joint practically a swivel, not that it even works at all with the armor locking the back in place. Butterfly joint in the shoulder? Actually fine until the armor goes on, then it is totaly pointless, the armor hits everything. Hips look terrible, have no inward movement, and can only get about 45° tops while armored. The unarmored arms and legs look like total shit, with bizarre color seperation and even worse proportions, the legs get the worst of it since they almost look like sausage links with how poorly the capture any kind of natural flow. The mechanical parts are so close to being great, they are a quite static with how little range the joints have, but the still look so good... if this had a girl of the same design quality as a md or even an atk girl this would be a super strong release, I may very seriously make a whole new torso for this kit based off the amazing art in the manual, its too good to pass up. Why the fuck does this kit not come with a stand. It literally has a nonstandard port for a custom stand, where the hell is it.

Quoted By:
>>8917780 The plastic feels like a bandai kit from around 2010, and the fit is almost perfect.
All of the weakness in this kit comes from the girl. Guan yu isn't diffident in that regard. The sculpt on the heads is just fine, but the eyes are put much lower on the faceplates than they should be. Its super obvious since they molded in the eyelid fold and a flat surface for the decals to sit. The bodies, especialy zhao yuns, are super jank. In her case its clear she didn't go through a proper design process with how bizarre she came out looking. The armor is realy good to, if e-model had the build quality for their armor that ms general has their kits would be practically perfect.

As for the joints, they aren't ball joints, they are sherical universal joints. Just sand the spherical section so that they just barely no longer touch their sockets anymore, that should totally prevent paint scratching, and is also a good way to do wrist joints should you ever need to do it.

>>8922651 Balljointed elbows are the simplest way to work around the lack of a bicep swivel, but they look pretty pointless in this case. Maybe they're intended to pop out easily to prevent breakage since it's supposed to be an action figure in kit form?
Anonymous

Same thing could have been done with normal pin joints without parts popping off.
RG seed kits had this issue with the shoulder.
Looks more like they just tried to cut corners and use less parts to lower production costs, which is typical for bandai.
Anonymous
>>8922823 Seeing how the ball joint is swayed to the back from the thigh's lateral rotation axis, it'll be able to open up wider so the girl can sit more easily on the gun, but it'll also make a huge gap between the thigh and groin as you can see in the pic

Basically to sandwich the thick center piece f the seat with her legs without looking like she's just spreading her legs. Somewhat interesting approach.
I do wonder if there's other merits, like sitting cross-legged is easier...?
