Pretty standard stuff here, Scarlett and Baroness look a little more classic than I was expecting though. Would love to see that Night Creeper in Classified. Think they'll show more Friday, or just go over this stuff again?

According to the leaks, the film is an origin story for both Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and shows how they became arch nemesis. It also has the joes vs cobra in the background and the origin is kind of different.

I hope these scale well next to Classified. The price point is also decent enough at $10 each. I know there was some leaks ages ago calling these "core class" and stating that there was vehicles for these figures... so maybe if they scale accordingly we might have some 6-inch vehicles for our Classified figures. I think the Retro collection will be Hasbro's attempt to try and placate older fans, but they're half-assing it, and obviously forcing a re-use of recent molds from 50th in the line so they don't have to tool anything significantly new outside of heads. I also think that the guy in charge of that line doesn't know what he's doing and is sort of wasting the tooling budget on things that didn't matter, such as a new Fang pilot. Why did they bother? Really they need someone who's a major fan with fan priorities to be in charge of that line. A few decisions have been good I'll say:
>Repaint of 50th Lady Jaye was decent since that figure had bad paint the first time.
>Sculpting a new Scarlett head.
>Sculpting a new Hiss Driver

That Fang pilot's budget should have been spent on making a good Duke figure instead of putting out an obnoxiously outdated 25th Duke which had been re-popped in 50th.

Stormy was always the one who had a tragic backstory that made sense, all the sympathetic backstories for cobra were mostly recent. His loyalty to CC was because I think, that he had the info on who set him up, or that that loyalty was his cover so he could get said information.

His and Snake eye's bond was always super strong, it's the reason he vouched for a white boy in his super anti-nonasian japanese only ninja clan, they were family.

He's always looked better as a standard white ninja with a fairly simple design. When he's not that his figures clearance hard. Most scale faggotry is done by one loser with too much time and not enough of a life.

For the rest of us it's just a matter of having things being in scale with each other. for example Tatsumaki from one punch man is a smoll girl, like 5 feet tall max, Saitama is average hieght at 5,9 and Genos is 6 ft or so. It's annoying if they're all the same height, does that make sense?

And besides that, they're always mercenaries or reamin evil, Storm Shadow goes off to open hsi own dojo and pal around with his buddy Snake eyes, ruining that just so you can have the shittiest aspects of Sub Zero and Scorpion is crappy to me.

I get that, its why I hate McFarlan stuff or who ever is doing the anime line with the horrible luffy.

I'd like Joes 1/12 line to share this level of scale for other guys like Tunnel Rat more like Wolverines size, give me a big ass Cobra guy or two like Colossus, Shipwreck should be like Iron fist size. Hasbro can be hacks at times but when they do scale right it fits well.

Although I have seen some people who are really deranged over an updated take on Joes geared toward children. I'm just glad to see G.I.Joe back and successful again and that the update isn't too far removed from ARAH-- it's essentially ARAH but with some modern video game style tweaks to it.

Both scales have their pros and cons. 6 inch look good. They have more detail and they are bigger so you can see it. 4 inch are smaller and lighter. They can be held up by bases in various action poses, such as diving and gunning. Being smaller not only helps with storage but also allows you to set up a bigger diorama. I love that. I don't want my dudes to be in static poses.

Yeah, retaliation was what I ideally thought a joe movie would look like giving the limitations of Hollywood. I didn't like some aspects of it (The Rock being the leader, Duke killed along with most joes rather early wtf was that) but loved how integrated the ninja aspect, the cobra villains, the military shit... it was a fun clusterfuck and it gave us some of the coolest figures and even some 'Ultimate' molds like Storm shadow, Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes.

And rather uninspired I would have loved some tacticool kind of platform game infiltration thing like the movie Dreadd or The Raid or even the arcade G.I. joe game, each 'level' facing a Cobra Villain with their own quirky gimmicks or something while trying to storm the bunker or the white house.

I loved the Cobra Commander/Zartan plot with the nukes, it felt like something that could have happened in the cartoon or comics, I just didn't like the resolution. Was in awe at the whole ninja scenes on the mountains though, very good.

No, none of them look like joe movies. That's the issue, they make these movies so they appeal to no one, and kill off the good lines to try and double up on a hypothetical young market that they can't get.

Hasbro has done this what, 3 times now? They make a line that sells, make the NEW HOT MOVIE and have all the movie stuff loook like generic boring military crap, and then nobody watches the movie or buys the toys. Then they do it again a few years later, and when it fails they say

The whole white dude becoming a ninja thing wasn't even a trope yet by the time Hama started making the comics. Enter the Ninja came out in late 81/early 82. I'd say Snake Eyes was more of the icon for that than the guy from that movie and all the other popular ninja movies after Enter the Ninja starred Sho Kosugi, not a white, blonde guy. The American Ninja movies didn't start until '85 and Snake Eyes' origin series was published in '84.

While this ultimately wouldn't be Hasbri's fault, but rather the film studio, I think this will kill the line. Its tragically ironic, after months if film delays, the film can get bumped up but the toys can't.

The reason toys release earlier than a movie is so they're on shelves before release. But if it comes out that late, kids won't buy into any of it, it's too late. Ironically, Snake Eyes movie merch will rot on store shelves and stores won't order more classified figures

That Stormshadow was especially good, as shame the Trooper and Commander didn't have the regular double knees and ankles, I rather liked those designs.
