>>8923266I dig the Playmates figures that I have, and they're certainly a step up from the Jakks Figures, I really dug the sculpting on the Bandai figures, and I personally liked the size, but short of giving us tons of destructable buildings (which they didn't), what's the point of making them that scale?
The Playmates figures are fun and a decent size, but I gotta disagree about the plastic, the hard plastic feels really hollow and cheap like it wants to crack, and the softer plastic is so gummy I had to put silicone oil into my Kong's wrists to stop them seizing up. But my biggest complaint has got to be the sculpts, the Warbat and Skullcrawler are fine, Kong having a perfectly symmetrical sculpt is bothersome when looking at it up close, but the biggest offender is Godzilla, that sculpt is so muddy it's fucking hideous to look at. I'm fairly convinced they scanned the NECA figure and resized it. I also hate the battle-damage gimmick but that's a personal preference thing, I hate it on any toyline, though Playmates have done a great job making the removable pieces lock in so I don't think they're gonna go missing any time soon.
Regardless of my complaints though, I do think these figures fit nicely with the rest of my Kaiju on the shelf, and I'm tempted to pick up some doubles to try repainting them.
