>>8950938>nothing from a fandom but manufacturing it's getting harder and harder to keep prices down as labor costs continue to riseThis is false, considering the fact that 1:18 toylines have the mobility to move up in price. Hence Hasbro's current 1:18 figure lines costing $13.
From ~2007-2021, the price went up from ~$5 to $13. The max price hit somewhere around 2019. Whereas MLs went from ~$10 in 2008 to $20 by 2014. So despite the cost of manufacturing going up, MLs have not risen in price in over 5 years.
So 1:18 has a bigger wiggle room, especially considering other mass market toylines like Jazware and Wicked Cool Toys still price their 1:18 figures at $10, despite having more modern engineering than Hasbro's 1:18 figures.
With 1:12, they've hit the price ceiling, as limited by Walmart and Targets who are afraid of going over $20 for children's toys. So even Jazwares and Wicked Cool Toy's 1:12 figures are $20.
In short, there's nothing stopping them from keeping prices down, because they already do that with 1:12 figures.
