I just got him today also. I’m glad for getting a Jet Jaguar, but I’m a bit disappointed in this figure. His arms are in a weird dynamic pose, while his arms are pulled in and kinda static. It’s like the top and bottom are from two different figures.

Garo was actually started as an attempt to revive him but they decided on the whole knight in a magical wolf-themed armor in development and dropped the idea.
Then you have reference after reference to him in Ishinomori's work; Skullman, Skull, KR Skull; so it's really weird that Toei or someone who worked with him before hasn't done a Golden Bat revival.
Fuck, the closest thing to that is fucking Wahaman which is a manga about quite literally the same character, except that the very vague lore of the Golden Bat allows for it to be a new character just by being an android.

For Jakks, releasing a kid's toy that's too small is an issue, if they were going to fucking bother with a larva form at all. Some of the monsters like the skull crawlers, this is the only way to get a figure of them. The Godzilla and Kongs are cheap child toys. Some people want any and everything related for their collections. Mecha Godzilla is decent looking for what it is, especially when you give it silver paint. This might not have been an issue if Walmart wasn’t the only store that sold these. The employees really hate having to restock items on the shelves especially toys.

It's okay, I had to glue my Rodan's wing back in but they arw cheap and the Mothra is a great base for doing custom paints. Given how expensive the NECA and SHMA versions are, I would say they are a pretty good deal.

different kind of break from the ones the NECA Rodan had. It's not even really a break. The wings are held in with a plastic peg and in 2 out of the 3 sets I ordered one wing didn't have enough glue applied to the peg so the wing fell off like the SHMA King Ghidorah wings tend to do. It was a pretty easy fix of just applying some super glue and slotting the wings back in.

I liked a decent amount of their Godzilla line. The 2 Shins, the first issue of 84, and the 94 are the only ones that I'd say were irredeemably bad figures, but like SHMA Shin managed to have worse paint apps and the Bandai vinyl has basically no paint apps so I mostly don't count the NECA Shin against them. BioGoji's head sculpt is a bit too stylized for me and I'm not a big fan of Tokyo SOS Goji's shoulder pads, but those are more taste issues than problems with the figures. I guess 2019 also had some pretty bad paint apps on the face from what I've heard, but I skipped over it and only got the atomic breath version.

I think Neca did a great job with 62, 64 and 84 because their designs are more forgiving since their more cartoony. I like most of their Showa stuff more than SHMA but when it comes to more intricate designs into Heisei forward, they start struggling.

Do you care what scale they are at? The current Ultraman 500 series has a large variety of cheap vinyl figures. They are all like 3" to 4" scale though and most have very limited paint. That said there are also some good figures in it too. The original Ultraman Bandai vinyl series is at the 6" scale with better sculpts and paint, but also a little more expensive (outside of Japan).

Shin isn't deep, it's barely even interesting, Anno's lackluster attempt at Sorkin-esque dialogue was laughably bad, the CGI for every scene that wasn't Shin burning down the city at night looked like it belonged in the 1990s, it's completely devoid of any of the soul of the 54 film that is so clearly is trying to ape.
I've seen a different version of Shin, it's called Chernobyl, and it's a better more engaging kaiju story dealing with the failings of aging bureaucracy in the face of a disaster than Shin in every way.

Also comes with the gravity beams and stand, however the clips which hold the beams do not properly peg into the arms, so in this pic the beams are balanced on the clips which are balanced on the arms. Finnicky but can be fixed with some glue

I still find it baffling that they used the Showa body on the Heisei bootlegs as well. Like, they clearly had access to the Heisei sculpt.

Also it's weird how they never put out this gold version of the Showa figure that was shown off on taobao before any of them went up for sale anywhere. You'd think it'd be easy money.

Unfortunately he has the same issue as the 2019 KOTM figure; his wings do NOT stay on the pegs without some assistance. In this pic I used scotch tape wrapped around the peg, which helped a good bit, however if you move them around too much they fall off (same as the 2019). Im going to use super glue for a better connection.

To conclude, I paid about $85 after shipping for a well painted, highly articulated monster Zero figure with a pile of accessories, and a few flaws that are fixable. This is half of what I paid for an official Ghidorah who could not even manage a neutral standing pose without the assistance of three (3) display bases, no accessories, ugly paint, and wings that could not stay on a $170 figure without tape. I sold the KOTM, but Ill be keeping this one.

This is what I love about vinyl figures, they seem to last. The limited paint apps help too because there's less paint to damage. I'm tempted to track down that figure myself, but I just know the second I do Bandai will re-release it.

Again, good job. I was going to suggest to you in the last thread before it died, if you want it to look like it's glowing try painting the areas you want the glow to be entirely in blue and then drybrushing over them with black/grey. It'll be a bit more difficult than doing a blue wash, but the effect should be better.

Me personally I'm content with the articulation that they have, but I think articulation is a scale issue as well. These figures are gonna be pretty small, the more articulation they have the worse they're gonna look. Though if it were me I probably would have put the neck articulation right under the head and made all of them ball joints instead of swivels, and given that these have swap out parts an alternate tail that has sculpted dust kicking up around it (for stability) like >>8961158 would have been really sweet.

Yeah, Final Wars feels straight out the 90s EDGE phase, but in a good way. The design we got feels to safe, if anything it looks like an alternate Junior, if anything. A badass Goji kicking ass a la GMK v2.0 deserves better.

It's probably a combination of me going too heavy on the drybrush and the mold on the gills being too soft, but the gills look a little too dark. Still, the dry brushing worked pretty well on the back of the head. I added some bone white to the eyes to make them pop more.

not a fan of either. The head sculpt for '89 just doesn't look like BioGoji's head, which is a shame because I really like the vomit Goji's paint scheme. The rest of the figure is pretty great, but I just can't get past that face.
'03 has those awful shoulder pads that for some bizarre reason they decided to sculpt with the neck as a single piece. I prefer their Showa figures to their attempts at the Heisei and Millenium series.

It looks good. You're right about the sculpt being too soft for the effect to work fully, but the white in the eyes and mouth looks good reflecting the flash. It looks like there's actual light coming out of them. If you feel like going even further you can get some milliput (or some other sculpting putty) to fill in the screw holes and get something like a dental pick to carve in and sharpen the sculpt, but given the figure and the plastic I don't know how well that last bit would work. Still great job.

Fair enough. How do they compare to SHMA in general? Also I addressed some of the issues from earlier. The display base for the gravity beams actually work just fine, I was just being a retard and didnt use the additional set of support arms it came with. I glued the wings onto the pegs and they are solid as a rock, no issues there anymore. As a bonus I used a 1/16 bit and drilled a small hole up into the head from the inside of the mouth, so the beam effects can plug in somewhat securely and stay without the use of display rods. Hope you enjoy the figure anon

I'll give it a try. I tried to fill in the holes with some JB weld before I applied the pavement basecoat, but while it worked okay for one of the holes and so so for another, the third started to turn into a disaster and I had to spend 30 minutes using a dental tool scrapping hardened JB weld that had dripped everywhere so I gave up after that.
