Also I think it's safe to say now that the "Namek Series" page from last year did in fact show Dodoria and/or Zarbon and not Porunga.

They said it was in the comments and both of them were, but Porunga wasn't. Wonder if they're still going to do Porunga someday regardless.

Krillin has the boots and blue shirt (like in android saga) for like 1 chapter when they arrive on Namek and then he changes back into his saiyan saga attire. From that point he looks identical between saiyan and namek sagas until he gets the armor.

I'm sure they planned Porunga at least, but if sales of Shenron and Great Ape Vegeta were bad or underperformed, it definitely would have been canned. Who knows, though -- Great Ape is still in stock most places but I didn't see it get huge discounts like Shenron did (who I bought for $30 at his lowest point)

When they started doing the Ginyu force, it felt like only a matter of time before Zarbon and Dodoria would come around. They were about as important (if not moreso). Cui...not so much. Ginyus and Zarbon/Dodoria are B-list villains. Cui is like a C or D lister. All he really does is talk trash to Vegeta a couple times, then get blown up.

Cui is pretty memorable to me just because it's the first time we see Vegeta throw down against another villain (except when he kills Nappa but that was more just a villain flourish). The start of his antihero arc was pretty exciting

Cui IS definitely lower ranking than Zarbon and Dodoria, but here's my arguments in his favor:

But lets be real, Cui and Dodoria were both made to look like bitches, unlike Zarbon.

Like I said, I realize Cui occupies a lower rung than Zarbon and Dodoria, but I think he at least deserves some recognition for his role in the Namek saga.

Sad thing is, Team Four Star went full cuck and apologized for their portrayal of Dodoria as a woman. Because there's no such thing as a fat, ugly (fertile) lady that could be mistaken for a man. Also because Vegita punched that lady for having a big, meaty, vagina.

TFS also apologized for implying that Vegita killed Zarbon because he was a homopobe. Killing people for kicks is one thing, but killing a dude because you're afraid that he may have molested you while you were unconscious is not cool!

I don’t really have the disposable income to get into the line as a whole, either. But I do invest in the characters who are important to me. I’ve made sure I’m getting 1st form Freeza and Cooler. Maybe you could do that . Save up some money for a couple characters that are important to you. And a hanging shelf is not that expensive.

I am surprised at all the what I assume zoomers not wanting more based Namek saga characters. After Frieza fight DBZ went downhill really fast. Android saga was in my opinion average and Cell saga was only good for the Goku vs. Cell and Piccolo vs. 17 fight if you count it as cell saga.

Buu saga sucks a chode. The only thing post Namek DBZ had going for it was interesting character designs continued to be introduced. But apparently a lot of anons here don't give a rats ass about interesting character designs they just want the most powerful cool character named Goku and Vegeta.
I am pumped for more Frieza force anything makes for an interesting shelf. I hope we get a Nail with Guru staute or Dende. I also want Cui and some random freiza force mooks.

From what I've seen on reposts and early reactions to Dodoria seem quite positive. I think this is the kind of character that doesn't instantly seem attractive to everyone on paper but seeing how they nail the sculpt again and posed with Frieza might incease its appeal. For me 1st Form Frieza with Zarbon & Dodoria have been top tier wants for years now, I personally couldn't be happier.

Same here. But that's why I just don't buy them and wait for other figures to be announced that I am interested in.
Maybe I would have cared more about Zarbon and co. if I had gone all-in to start with, but I've always picked what I thought was cool and overlooked the characters I was lukewarm about, so it's too late to suddenly go full collector on it now.

Agreed, if they didn't do people like Dodoria you can tell how badly they wanted to do Trunks because of how they just didn't have the time to put the Time Patroller head on the Xenoverse Protag body kek. They do what they want whenever they want. They could have no prototypes for a whole year and you'd be no closer to the figures you want than if they did what they're doing right now. If they didn't do the Ginyu Force and Namek saga they would have done something else instead of making a new Krillin or Trunks.

I agree and I might be in the minority here but I think some of first form Frieza's faces look weird too. They're adding a bit too much detail with wrinkles and facial features that its beginning to have a bit of uncanny valley effect. Its like when artists add too much detail to an anime drawing and they begin to look realistic. The dragon stars that's a cheap toy with less details in some ways captures a 2D animated look a bit better. I also think that's why some people prefer the old SSB faces on Goku compared to the new SS Goku faces.

Dodoria and Zarbon were Freeza's top henchmen and always at his side until they were killed. They had more screen time (and in Zarbon's case) more fights than any single member of the Memeyu Force.

The fucked up part is we didn't get them all around the same time as 1st form Freeza, and instead got the Memeyu Force first. Just another Bandai fuckup, along with Guldo not getting an actual figure and instead being a fucking accessory to Burtur.

I think there is a way to add detail without being uncanney valley, like Raditz has amazing detail and it perfectly captures the feel of the character and that saga, it's all about the shapes and proportions of the face, not just adding more lines and wrinkles like with Goku.

Yes, I'd rather have the definitive versions of the main characters than goons. Trunks never got his 2.0. The original fig was bad even back when it released. I nor did anyone ask for the Xenoverse shit to be made. This is their problem, always making figs of crap most people don't care for.

If regular Cooler becomes a thing, then I hope it pushes them to make a 2.0 Final Form Frieza for real. The two are fairly similar in design (albeit Cooler is more masculine looking) so you'll really start to see the age in the sculpt sharpness and engineering decisions if those were to be put next to one another.

Whilst your ranting is infantile, as a fellow Trunks fan I do agree with you on this point. I'd also argue the same for Perfect Cell.

They were very quick to give us a new Scouter Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku, but for some reason decided not to do anymore Cell Saga after Battle damaged Gohan.

I just realized that fucker "working on it" tried to pull a fast one with his most lazy work ever! He used the failed SS4 faces for this new SS goku head!! Haha thats why some of those faces look the way they do (a bit off) with the frown lines on the forehead - thats a GT look and the thick black eye liner around the eyes should be pink for the SS4 release and thats why this retooled head looks so fucking off... fuckers lol. Theyre not slick. The only face that was made originally for this New SS goku is the doe eyes happy one. Great job assholes.

Sh figuarts db line is good, sometimes great, but they still disappoint on lots of areas especially for the price points theyre selling at. Are you blind? Every figure for the past few releases has been great. Sculpt, articulation, and balance (for the most part), have been constantly improving. The downside of P-Bandai seems to be their QC is lacking.

Cherry picking. The Shodo Nappa looks amazing, but I don't think any other figures in the line stand up to it. That being said, you are paying more for a figuarts that comes with a beam effect, multiple hands, and multiple faces. Obviously it is going to cost more.

Show me one other brand in the same lane as Figuarts putting out better quality for a cheaper price. Revoltechs are going for 60-90, Figmas are going for even more, and every other Figuarts line is a similar price point to DB line.

TLDR: Bandai is no different than any other company and are increasing their prices according to to the competition. Vote with your wallet, but don't bitch about price when every other competitor is charging the same or more for equal or less.

Dodoria would be separated from the Frieza saga guys by like at least half a year of releases when they announce him. And we know stuff like Yamcha, Videl, first form Cell and Kefla are closer than others. They're just rotating around to keep the fans that want different things happy.

I don't know why people make such a fuss about FF Frieza. The only thing they could really update is the hips and make the head sculpts a little more accurate. And they won't do the normal 2.0 hip design, because it wouldn't look good for him, so it'd probably have to be like Cooler, but smaller which may be though.

Outside of that, basically all the rest of his joints are identical to First Form Frieza. Best you can hope for for a new Final form is if they do full power, and the bulked-up look will be better for designing his hips anyway.

It feels that way cause the Ginyu force who fall under Frieza saga need to come close to each other and with Frieza himself it feels like its getting a heavy focus. Especially now with a Dodoria being revealed but isn't close to release. The Frieza saga figures is 4, SS Goku, Tien, Yamcha and Vegeta which presumably come before Dodoria is 4 aswell.

They're doing arcs in a somewhat broad sense that makes people buy complementary figures but not in the way some people are making it out to be. We're not getting like Dodoria, Zarbon, 2nd form Frieza, 3rd form Frieza, Cui Nail, Porunga before we're allowed to move on to the next thing.

There are a few things they could epand on with a 2.0 release, theyre definitely going to do the bulked up version so hopefully those heads are universal like jirens. But I love this release if anything wish theys release a non gray version of the 1st release so I can get they squinted eyed head so when Krillin saiyan armor releases I can recreate that scene - with a non gray frieza.

It’s always been my favorite saga, and it’s the last time in the show all the Z Fighters get tiny moments to themselves before the focus shifts exclusively to the Saiyans. Everyone’s in fighting condition, and the character designs are excellent. There’s also a bit of late tax involved, too. Cooler's body alone shows how much they could improve Freeza. Hell, Freeza 1st form shows how much they can improve him. Their sculpts have simply gotten better with time, and you can tell Freeza is an older figure because his sculpt is shit compared to the current crop that started with Super Broly.

But don't be fooled, that figure is old as fuck and they will make an updated body for frieza. They'll reuse it for mecha frieza, cooler, and frost.

Also cant wait to see the 2nd form frieza with 3rd form head accessory when that drops I'll be a happy man. But Im worried about black sayian armor Krillin. Theyre really hit and miss with the smaller figures, hope he gets some justice since they did well with 1st form frieza.

In terms of story, it is a nod to King Cold, Freeza's second form was developed by him to resemble his father.

Of course in reality, King Cold was designed to look more like 2nd form Freeza, since Toriyama was designing Freeza well before King Cold.

And I know this because Toriyama intended to end Dragonball AFTER the Freeza saga. Freeza was meant to be the final villain. He was convinced by his editor to keep the series going because it was so popular (why do you think the Freeza saga went on so long?. They needed to give Toriyama time to put another saga together.

The Cell saga was done almost completely on the fly. The villains of the saga WERE originally 19 and 20, but his editor said " after all that build up, the cyborgs are an old geezer and a fatso?" , then Toriyama did 17 and 18 and AGAIN his editor was like, "That's it? the main villains are some punk kids?"

So then we got Cell.

Everything these days is sculpted on computer. They literally can make 2nd form Freeza's legs, and before adding the lines in his legs that Freeza has, save the file as "Cold's Legs", because it's just a flat sculpted colorless 3D model.

We just got the Memeyu Force, where 3/5th's of the members do nothing and die. Guldo put up a tiny fight, and really only Recoome and Ginyu had anything resembling proper fights. Jeice and Burtur pretty much did nothing except die.

I think you're missing the point. The design need an update not necessarily because it looks bad, but because the articulation is very limited.

If you've ever pushed your figures to the limits of their ab crunches, neck tilts, leg kicks you'll soon realize how dated frieza is. It's really disappointing.

Would be a fairly easy rework for them.
They could do a Final Form Frieza 2.0 sculpt and then also fairly easily get a Golden Frieza 2.0 out of it.
Or vice versa.

Yea looks like the differences are mainly the gems. You'd need different heads too, lots of little things that add up. I think the current golden Frieza we have used all different parts from final form.

I don't think that's true either anon, I have no problem putting him in any pose I need. He has better torso range than Goku, the only issue is balancing in a vanilla pose because he has literally no heels, but nothing some pelvic thrust can't fix. Don't get me wrong, I'm starting to see the possible improvements for a 2.0, I'm just noting what damn good job they did on their first try.

I half agree with you in some points, like banpresto shits out amazing face sculpts for like 30bucks, of course SHF has fantastic engineering but I don't understand why they can't just do faces like pic related every single time, part of me thinks they introduce innacuracies or sub par portraits here and there so they can have 3.0's, 4.0's, you know planned obsolence or whatever it's called.

I don't think they're making shitty faces with the intention of replacing them later. For SS Goku at least, I think they tried being different for the sake of being different. They didn't wana reuse the blue hair and faces again so they went with something new. But they actually did a pretty good job with Blue already so they ended up moving the features around and adding extra details. Then we got what we got.

I agree, it's for sure the apex, story-wise, I think from that point up to the end it was just kinda decompressing and having comfy action and character development, I love the dynamics of everyone knowing each other for so long.

I don't love the ending though, and where DB is at the moment, I know Goku is light on earthly attachments but I would've preferred if he stayed with Chichi and left the series off to everyone else, by having Goku and Vegeta around effortlessly breaching through power levels it's just mindless at this point.

I'm way more engaged with fan art than the "official" story.
