Can I get a quick rundown on the different star wars toy sites? Which are the best ones out of sites like JediBusiness, Yakface, Rebel Scum, etc?

I miss when I could be excited about what was coming from Star Wars.

>>8960477 There's too many to really get into, so it kind of depends on what you need. If it's news, Yakface is usually the fastest. The dude's a bit smug, though. Jedi Insider is also decent for quick news.
If you're looking for an archive of figures, JediBusiness is the best for quick looks at the figures since their galleries are fairly easy to browse, though they only have a handful of images for each figure.
Rebelscum also used to be the top dog (they were the first big SW collecting fan site), but they stopped being the go-to site over a decade ago. They rarely have any good scoops, but unlike JTA their staff never developed an ego over their popularity so there's no opinion. Now their biggest feature is their image galleries, which go all the way back to the beginning so they have one of the more comprehensive galleries, though they're a bit slow to update newer stuff.
Galactic Hunter basically stopped having news ages ago, but it's still worthwhile to check in now and then since the guy who runs it is extremely knowledgeable about Star Wars collecting and its history, so it can be worth it to check his Q&A's now and then.
Steer clear of JediTempleArchives, which use to be one of the best for news but its webmaster developed a huge ego because of it and even though his site hasn't been number 1 in years he still behaves as if the entire collecting community hangs on his every word.

They'd need replacements from the normal clone pool, since Jango isn't around to help train new ones.
Anonymous
>>8962218 The major issue is that TCW's take on clone troopers isn't really compatible with the original EU version of ARCs. The EU originally went pretty hard on the idea that clones aren't independent thinkers and are basically fleshy droids (which is weird since AOTC has Lama Su specifically highlighting independent thought and creativity as the reason clones are better than droids) and so ARCs were originally meant to have that independence bred into them. TCW has the clones as independent-minded from the beginning and shows them fully capable of thinking outside the box at all ranks, so it didn't make any sense to have special group of clones bred to think that way.
I think it does work better the way it is now, where ARC Troopers are basically the Navy SEALS of the GAR. You don't need to be designed for the program but you need to really go above and beyond to be considered for it.

He was their main reporter and while he was a huge Hasbro apologist his friendliness with them made it easy for the site to get exclusives and even a few leaks here and there. At some point he seemed to either lose passion for the job or lost his Hasbro connections or something because he just didn't seem to be doing much anymore, and after like 2-3 years of going limp he left the site. The remaining staff tried to keep going without him but I think none of them wanted to really put the effort into it, especially because they were fighting a losing battle against other sites that had started to fill the void. Rebelscum coasted on its name recognition for a while but we've reached the point where it's basically a corpse and the people left either don't care enough or think it's too much effort to try to compete again.

Any child banging toys together in the sand tries harder to produce a more coherent story with better character development than disney did. And the casting was somehow worse than the prequels.
Anonymous
>>8979605 You don't know how glad I am that people finally started including TFA in the pile of "dumb shit Disney did." When it came out there were people who saw it for what it was, derivative crap made by people with no new ideas who just wanted to regurgitate the OT for the sake of increasing box office revenue, and that this was a very weak foundation for a new trilogy specifically because it presented few new ideas, and we'd get shouted down and told that this was truer Star Wars than the prequels were, that we're just mad that the EU got dropped (I wasn't even an EUfag but I still got called an EUfag), that the box office failure of the prequels meant it was necessary to pander (and you couldn't convince these people that the prequels weren't commercial failures no matter what stats you cited), etc. Even after TROS there were still people defending TFA and insisting that TLJ was the only one with any problems and that TROS having to fix TLJ's shit was the reason TROS was bad, but TFA was flawless.
Hardcore TFA defenders are a distant memory now. A lot of them no longer admit that they ever liked TFA at all.

>>8979666 I think part of what did it for TFA is that ROS had Abrams basically doing the same tricks only with worse results. His entire approach to Star Wars is to just repeat the OT, and it felt even more cynical in ROS. JJ's decisions are based entirely on what he thinks the fans want to see, so when he puts out shit like ROS it becomes impossible to defend him: every retarded decision is coated with THIS IS WHAT YOU FANBOYS WANT RIGHT THIS IS WHAT PLEASES YOU and it went from being bad to just being insulting. Fuck, at least Johnson's dumb shit was sincere, he did what he thought was best for the story and while he was completely wrong at least there was a sense that he prioritized story over profit. JJ's only trick is to do what he thinks will sell, regardless of whether it's what's best for the story, regardless of whether it even makes sense. This is why ROS pissed me off so much more than TLJ did, and I fucking hated TLJ.

>>8979666 TFA lost me the second Poe said "So who talks first?" The movie didn't get any better after... I remember being so disgusted by how bad the practical effects were *after* they'd spent all that time claiming how they were going back to practical effects because "that's the right way."
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>8979979 What's funny about that is despite JJ and Disney falling for the "prequels were all CGI" meme, the practical effects that did exist in the prequels were much better done than TFA's, and there actually a lot more of them than people realize. JJ actually had to do a lot more CGI than he expected because surprise surprise a lot of shit is actually hard and expensive to pull off practically. For all the marketing around how BB-8 is a 100% practical prop, a majority of the movie needed him to be either fully CG or CG assisted (by having a puppeteer that was digitally removed from the frame) because the BB-8 puppet couldn't actually do most of the shit the script called for.

I wanted to walk out of TLJ in the first half hour, but since i was with friends, i couldn't.
I gave TLJ a chance after TFA because Johnson was doing his own thing, seperate from JJ, and supposedly had creative control. Went to the movie without ever watching a trailer and avoiding all discussions, because why spoil myself when it's something i HAD to see? Terrible. After that i made a point of watching every trailer, hence skipping out on Solo and RoS.
Didn't bother with RoS, despite protests of "you're not a star wars fans if you don't watch it" from acquaintances and friends just treated RoS like any action movie, where most of us didn't go and those that did did so out of boredom.
I barely give a shit about Star Wars now and don't give any money to sequel shit. Just OT and PT stuff if i see it in stores and like the design/character. Still haven't bought any Mandalorian stuff either, despite watching it on my sister's free through cellphone service account. It was OK and I pass over their toys on shelves. I thought TFA was completely unremarkable, and its been said a million times, but it was also just a retread, almost beat for beat of ANH. TLJ made it clear that was no plan, and Rian Johnson didn't give two shits about actually following the few story threads set up in TFA. I didn't even see ROS, but it was clear that they had fucking nothing to work with, and were pretty much just making shit up as they went along from what I understand.
Say what you want about the Prequels, good or bad, but at least there is an underpinned story there--the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker--so even if the execution was bad, you can understand that it was a story that could be told. There's really no real story told in the sequels, and its clear that they just saw dollar signs since they greenlit the trilogy before the ink on George Lucas' signature was even dry signing the franchise over to Disney.

This is the problem with bringing him back, especially when the stakes aren't as high or interesting, nor do they have anything to do with good characters completing their arcs. What would make you think his latest death would be permanent but you easily accepted his death in the OT didn't happen? You see, this is why I call it fanfic. It's a level of hackery rarely glimpsed in any movie. It's rare that writers display such a blatant misunderstanding of the basics of storytelling.
>Mando seems to be connecting the OT to the ST, but sure Mando exists in the era where the most interesting things could happen. Lawlessness after the fall of a strong centralized superpower provides a great backdrop for character-driven stories. The ST is just the same setup as the OT, which doesn't make sense at all logistically, and because it is so damn similar to the OT it is doomed to be compared to the OT, which was an incredibly foolish decision on disney's part. This is what happens when you get the guy who made Lost (lol) to try to make an epic trilogy and he throws a hissy fit when the next guy doesn't follow his formulaic story beats in the second film, so he torpedoes the whole project in the third film. jj abrams should never be let near a film set or writer's room again.

This is his entire storytelling philosophy when it comes to Star Wars. Just "the fans will surely eat this up!" with no thought given to whether or not it makes sense.

>>8983489 it's not a matter of their not being a market for it, I bought TBS greedo like 5 years ago for 40 bucks because I'm a bounty hunter autist, and I'm for sure not the only one because the average price for that nigga is much higher now
hasbro just has their priorities completely fucked, it's not like they wouldn't make money on a normal greedo rerelease, they clearly just have mandates in place for what gets a release

>>8983643 I dunno, Sheev's mind transfer ritual apparently required Rey to kill him, which she ended up doing anyway. How do we know he didn't actually pull it off and he's just been pretending to be Rey? The movie gives us no explanation for why Rey killing him was necessary, or why her blasting him to death didn't fulfill the requirements, so for all we know he actually did take over her body and he's just been playing the role.

There's some mystery TBS figure up for preorder at walmart
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Action-Figures/176203378 I got my order in just in case, it doesn't ship till September so if it ends up being something lame you can just cancel it.
Anonymous
>>8983745 I ordered one too. I wonder if they'll just cancel them before the actual listing goes up though
Anonymous
>>8983749 Does walmart do that?
I've gotten away with pre-ordering shit on amazon before the proper listing goes up.

There's lots worth discussing when it comes to the shitquel trilogy, but the one thing that has irked me most since the sequels finally concluded was the fact that the actors that played our new "trio of heroes" wouldnt just fuck off. For the most part, ridley hasnt been in much so she's not that bad, but boyega and isaac have shown up in more movies than I can bare to see them in. For all the shit ridley gets, she's atleast mildly attractive. Oscar Isaac and John Boyega are human hemorroids. Their acting is godawful and they have no business being in entertainment, but then again many of the cunts in hollywood now dont either. The fact that Abhrams is being welcomed with open arms to WB makes me seethe even more. The 2010's was a fucking blight on humanity. A blight so fucking horrid that even the worst blockbusters of the 90's and 2000's seem like citizen fucking kane by comparison. John fucking Carter and the lone ranger are unironically better star wars films than anything produced 8n the last 6 years.

Does anyone know of a 3.75 figure that comes with an orange, or even orangish, color bladed saber? Not like the old Kenner figures with the yellow and orange sliding sabers, but like an accessory saber?

Guys decide this for me since you know the market. Found my 1995 battle fleet micro machines. Pretty much complete maybe 15 ships plus endor, hoth, and the death Star. Should I hold it, sell it as a collection, or sell individually?
