Hoping they end up doing a retro style human torch like the 3.75 fig eventually, if not for this wave. Shame that we're just getting another fiery hands johnny. I've got at least the walgreens one, but it's weird that they did 2 mostly normal ones in a row.

Do they even sell? Other than tiger stripe and 80's brown from the Apoc and Juggs waves I feel like all of the recent Wolverine releases have been slow sellers (or outright pegwarmers in AoA's case).

He’s always packed 2 per case which makes him seem like a slow seller. I think the only ones that straight up took forever to sell are Weapon X (the naked one) and the Retro stealth costume. And AoA obviously.

I hate that they did the modern F4 wave at all since it dilutes the brand and now we have people asking why are they evening doing another F4 lineup, not knowing that the white/blue costumes are the best. I'm just glad I can have a 90's F4 to go with the 90's Iron Man and War Machine as part of the "Marvel Action Hour". I'm also hoping for a jumpsuit Thing this time around.

I feel the same. But we’ve got confirmation they’re making Byrne costumes, so if anything sales of those will increase popularity since the costumes are the most iconic short of the originals. Plus you can milk those outfits. She-Hulk, She-Thing, maybe Bagman Spider-Man (same era at least).

Probably the best BAF they've ever made. Textured detailing from head to toe, 2 pairs of hands and actual accessories. Its still an inexcusably shit wave overall but as its own figure its pretty good.

No. We're at the point now where I will be able to all but completely pass on MCU waves. So long as they don't pull some kind of bullshit like the Shang Chi wave and put in a really good Comic BaF in it.

Yeah. Just even 2 years ago I was buying full wave after full wave. Now I'm lucky if there's a single figure that interests me. Can't say I'm getting anything from the Shang Chi or Disney+ waves. I even saw the Shang Chi wave yesterday and couldn't care less.

Unless the movie catches on big time in the marketing phase I imagine they'll pegwarm like shit for a while, at least up till the movie actually hits and then maybe a few select figures will be harder to find than others

The only figure I won't keep I think will be The Hood. I've read stuff with Parker Robbins in it, but I don't have a huge attachment to the character, and the figure just looks bad.

MODOK is really fun for what’s basically a statue/Mr. Potato Head.
Dormammu was a surprise cop for me. He looks really good and I’m glad he’s not huge. Just need classic Strange, Clea, and Mordo now.
Ultron and Red Skull have been wants of mine for a while. Lady Deathstrike too, I just have more x-men villains than avengers villains right now. I’m sure I’ll appreciate her more in-hand.
I’m also surprised that I want Xemnu, so I’m hoping the Hood and Arcade’s parts won’t be too expensive, even though they’re less popular.
Lastly God Doom, who I wasn’t sure I wanted but he just looks neat.

I’m just kind of surprised people say ML has been boring lately, strictly because MCU stuff is kinda droll and X-Men isn’t as 90’s focused lately. While I’ll admit we could use more Spider-Man and Fantastic Four stuff, we NEVER get classic Avengers villains. And this upcoming wave goes a long way for that. There’s a huge roster I still want.

Only Select I have is the Disney Store Thanos and he's pretty good. I'm still pissed at myself for never getting Destroyer when I had the chance, I need him for my Asgard Display. I only really wanted that Taskmaster for Fodder, but I'm pretty sure the parts would be to large for the Legends Taskmaster. Mostly I just want that head, be cool if someone did a shrunk down cast of it as I kind of hate the head the Classic Taskmaster came with.

Finally got SHF Scarlet Witch from US P-Bandai but I have no motivation to open her.

Modok also showed up though, and he's awesome!! I didn't put together his thrust effect/base because I wanted to swoosh him around, haha. It also seems like it's one of those one-time connection pieces (for the thrust part and the base, that is). For folks who have assembled the base, does it come apart easily for storage?

How compatible are the Shang Chi movie figures in regards to popping off the movie heads and using the bodies for civilian bodies for MJ, Gwen, Maddrox, Peter Parker, etc? There are better options out there to retool a figure into Agent Venom. Take the Night Thraser figure, pop on the vest and head from Agent Venom. If you want to go further, swap the lower legs and forearms from Agent venom.

Another option is to use the upper body from Paladin, the neck and shoulder pads thing from Malekith and Lower body, and Head from Agent Venom.

These are just ideas to use parts from, if you want to make your own you'd have to put in the work on them. Depending on the artist Agent Venom has had more of a realistic looking tactical armor look or something more akin to chitin.

Nah, it’s kinda like you said. The thruster part that plugs into the base is basically permanent. I’ve gotten it out with a little force but I could easily see the plug in getting loose over time if I do it again. The final piece at the base is removable, just like Professor X’s thrust from his hover chair, but that’s it.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Paladin and Night Thrasher both have the look you want. I personally just painted a brother voodoo’s torso black and removed the pins in his arms and legs to swap Agent Venom’s parts in, with the Agent V head and body armor taking care of the rest.

I do wish we’d get a more modern body. I liked his smoother look rather than the “chitin” one, although the smooth one didn’t last long.

Anyone got their movie Venom in yet? From what vids I've seen he's pretty great. Enjoyed the movie as a fun romp despite its flaws. Also really liked how Venom looked since the Spidey 3 Venom looked like hot garbage. A lot of people passed on it the first time, mostly because few people were working towards a full X-Men team or were under the belief that Hasbro would move so slowly on that front that it wouldn't be worth the time. Iceman pegwarmed because so few people actually bought him, and now that people are rushing to complete their X-Men collections and going back to get what they missed, he's expensive specifically because nobody bought him. Low supply and high demand increases the price.

This was also why the same Rogue from that wave got super expensive as well.

Sam is honestly a great figure, that ultimate Spidey buck has great articulation. Just be careful with the ankles, never ran into problems with Spidey but I owned two novas and they either had really tight or really loose ankles.

Superior Spider-Man had a separate, shorter torso, but I think the arms and legs were reused for Pizza Spidey. Pizza Spidey and 2099 were released in the same wave, so technically you could refer to it either way, but since 2099 had different forearms that weren't reused, it makes more sense to call it the Pizza Spidey buck, especially considering the later body that debuted with a 2099 Spidey figure.

It’s a combination of cringy stuff for me. Asking for free toys, advertising BBTS constantly, the intro to his reviews, the Super Uber Dork or whatever, focusing on how big the tits, ass, and feet are (but only on female figures), the stop motion Spidey stuff, and that he’s always selected as, like, “the representative of the community” when it comes to asking the Hasbro reps stuff, but he always just asks about female double elbows and giving the girl figures bigger tits and ass. Even his name is literally “a pun off of Optimus Prime but it’s poop.”

Idk. A lot of this stuff is toned down lately but still. I wish I didn’t have to watch his stuff at all, but he’s also the only collector (seemingly) who does common sense comparisons, like showing how a new figure scales next to the old repainted one, AND the old Toybiz one, AND the Select. And he also shows their height. For some reason, no other reviewers do this consistently; they’ll just show the height of the newest iron man next to the most recent figure they reviewed, a Power Ranger. It’s fucking useless. So Shartimus does have some utility but I shouldn’t have to mute the fucking review just to get what I need.

I think it’s a little of column A and a little of column B. From what I can tell, MCU stuff is popular, but a) it can be very hit or miss, since new sculpts every time means accessories are often lacking, b) they haven’t made X character yet, or c) the sculpt is inaccurate because they based it on concept art.

At any rate, as a comic-only guy, MCU stuff is usually a monkey’s paw. For one, comic BAFs are usually locked behind a wave of MCU figures. On top of that, MCU stuff receives cases and cases, making them harder to sell. On top of THAT, stores stock MCU stuff over comic stuff because it appeals to non-hardcore fans, making getting a comic BAF from an MCU wave extremely cost-unfriendly.

Additionally, stuff like MCU waves largely prevent us from getting comic avengers stuff. The upcoming Iron Man wave is fine, but the last comic Avengers wave without an MCU or Gamerverse figure was the second retro wave back in 2018. I can’t complain too much; I got a comic Kang and Jocasta last year. But that whole wave could’ve easily been A-list Avengers villains and B-list heroes, if you take away MCU and Gamerverse stuff. The avengers, comic-wise, are sorely lacking.

Lastly, in order of popularity, I’d say it’s 90’s X-men, then other x-men stuff, then Spider-Man, then MCU, then comic Avengers, then Fantastic Four stuff, with cosmic comic stuff being dead last. If I had to guess based off of sales numbers. Lately Marvel has been hammering MCU stuff just fine, but Spidey waves have been kinda sparse distribution-wise, and X-Men has shifted to either new modern stuff with House of X or alternate universe Age of Apocalypse stuff, neither of which is going to capture 100% of the people who bought the 90’s stuff. So it’s not 100% anger at MCU stuff, but I can understand why people might skip everything but the villains wave this year.

I don't know if I'd call it a decline exactly. It's going to be near impossible to top Infinity War/Endgame. So in that sense it's declining. As long as they have characters like Strange, Spidey, the Guardians, it should have at least some good stuff in it. X-Men have yet to show up too. Basically as long as the characters people care about get figures even if they push others I don't mind.

I went looking for a War Machine like a year or so ago. Decided to see what the Endgame ML looked like. I thought it looked fucking cool but it didn't look like from the movie. Which, in this regard, was nice because I thought his suit in Endgame looked off. The ML figure is nice and bulky and all around what I'd want him to look like in the MCU. Apparently is was based on movie concept art as you said.

Since I grabbed him I decided to grab the Endgame Tony and while it's neat and all and cool to have Tony's last outing in figure form I don't like the skin tight look of it. I get why it's like that but I just don't like it. I like my Ironman to be a little bulky. Is the ML MK1 figure any good?

And there could be a lot of reasons why McFarlane didn't make anything new after this, like sales weren't that great, the liscense expiring, or the licensor themselves not wanting to get more made.
They might have even lost retail support or even retailers asking for just doomguy to be made.

I like Tom Holland as Spidey and the movies aren't total shit to me. The supporting characters being a hodge podge of whatever is disappointing sure. I still don't think they're bad. The suits kind of annoy me. Iron Spider just looks gaudy. The more normal suits are off just enough for me to wish they were different. I think I liked his homemade suit the best as far as MCU Spidey suits go.

That's a better selection than the last four walmarts I went to, and unironically, the older figures I previously passed on would tempt me now. For example, they never made a non-baf mantis figure and as much as I want to complete the team, I'm not sure she should be worth as much as say, a toybiz sentinel.

It’s a rerelease of the original one from the 2008 Iron Man line. I dared to hope they’d make a new one, since 90% of the 80th sets featured at least one new mold. Articulation is really bad. It’s also way too small, especially since you’re like me and the suits need to be bulky enough to fit a Tony inside of.

Looks great but a bit pricey for me. The ML one comes with a Tony and is only 40 or so on Amazon. Can't really tell how good Tony's head looks from the photo though. If any anons have that set and can critique how the Tony looks maybe I'll grab it.

What's a good normal looking Ironman figure anyway? Not necessarily the movie version but not the real old looking ones either. I know that's his original look but the face and body just looks weird to me.

I wish I had your explanation every time someone questions why Eternals is getting a wave at all. It’s literally just target and Walmart knowing they can make money off of a movie. I've been kicking around ideas to make a kitbash/custom of this one. The legs from Wen Wu looked like they could work, and the arms from Shatterstar. His torso and tunic thing are the only issues I'm having. Maybe the Ghost Rider torso could work, maybe.

There’s only one Legends Eddie Brock Anti-Venom, and it’s on the Hyperion buck, same as both comic Venoms. It was part of the Hobgoblin wave in 2014.

As good as the mold for the Sony Venom is, I’m not sure who they can reuse it for. Seems kinda unlikely they’d use it for a comic character but it’s happened before (MCU Killmonger -> comic Winter Soldier)
