The figures on the PIA club site are about 10 dollars cheaper but the shipping is 20ish, but if you bought 2 figures at a time you'd basically be paying the same rate as bbts and if you bought 3 or more you'd actually be saving. I also heard that their pre-orders ship wayyyyy sooner than bbts.

I also haven't actually used pia yet, I've just looked around on it after I heard about it in a FB group. Bbts isn't bad though, the only problem i have with them is pre-orders. I've had to cancel my pre-orders after they kept changing the release date by months and months after the stuff I had ordered already was released other places

If you guys are looking for 1/18 scale diorama accessories, I highly recommend the J Dream gashapon brand. They have a lot of stuff that are 1/18 compatible - including vendo machines, furniture, appliances, etc. A lot of the HK acid rain customizers use their diorama accessories to fill out scenes.

Final faction is amazing and you should all buy the toys. For 14$ (plus tax) you can own the entire toyline. They are dollar tree exclusives, made by and for the dollar tree company, and it has a cartoon. The next wave will have more monsters and a vehicle for the good guys. They have the feel and quality of 80's kenner toys, and they have weapon packs which scale nicely with most any 3 and 3/4th to 4 inch characters. And every item in this series is only 1 $. For less than the price of a current star wars, or gi joe, or he-man figure, you can own the ENTIRE series. Also, the cartoon feels very much like a satire of those classic toy cartoons, with a bit of halo sprinkled over the top.

Zombie labs had a doctor, both before and after turning. It’s on the HACKS body. If I’m not mistaken there was also a female doctor and I think BFS will redo something with the molds. Or you can find a loose Cobra Commander or maybe even a Nazi coat and paint it white

Which is good, since it would have been lame if he only came with a book and mug. I would have preferred his sword and headshot laser canon, instead of the bomb case, but maybe they're holding those for his space suit version.

I liked the idea of having Gundam soldiers to go with my Star Wars guys, but $40 for a single mass produced figure felt like a lot for an impulse buy.

I don't have any myself, but the general reviews were pretty bad. Soft sculpts, crappy details, derpy faces, loose, wobbly joints, all for an absurdly high starting price. Had they been excellent I would've easily grabbed a few squads because the whole Zeon look is just really strong, but even for half the price they're asking they just looked awful.

Eh it's still Gundam and the fanbase is rabid enough to keep the line afloat. I'll wait for reviews to see if there's any improvements. These guys aren't must haves for me so I won't regret missing out on em.

No, not really. Trying to get any of the non-exclusive Leos is a bitch too. Will they ever make modern Gundam Wing models of all the other OZ mechs?

Personally, i hate preordering anything and almost always buy everything after reviews, and given Megahouse's history of mostly making bad quality toys, i normally would have passed this over.
But Zeon soldiers in 1:18? I skipped the first wave because they were embarassingly bad and wont even bother with the second wave, but i won't miss this chance, because it might be the last 1:18 Gundam soldiers ever made. Yes. Put the mask on a balaclava head. Cut the mouth pierce off hood, heat it up then shove the masked head through the front hole while it’s still gummy. Some trimming along the bottom of the scarf is also required

Only old-school 1/18 figures, like old GI Joes and Star Wars from the 80s, are 3.75". Modern 1/18, like Acid Rain, is generally 4". So your figures may not fit so well unless there's enough space to contort them a bit.

I would just play it safe and get one like this, with removable dividers. Then you can resize if you need a little more room, make smaller compartments for weapons, etc.

I wouldn’t be surprised either way since the M1 Helmet used in WWII was also the one used in Vietnam but they had a cloth cover on it so MTF might just paint a camo pattern on the same helmet if they don’t just crank out a new sculpt but I’m hoping for trinkets like a pack of smokes or a toothbrush, a bottle of cleaning fluid etc.

I have a bunch of a very similar case (Plano/Creative Options thread organizer) I use for diecast cars, like in the picture. 1:18 scale figures won't fit in most of the compartments. The measurements on the listing don't seem to match the picture; most Hot Wheels type cars are about 2.5 inches long, and there's not that much empty space left in the compartments.

The new acid rain yamato figures are the single best futuristic 1/18 military figure line I've seen.

They start off strong with 2 grunt type figures and 2 hero-type named figures (the ninja bros), coupled with the wacky annex 2179 figs, they've won a lot of pre-orders for me this year.

They do look pretty neat. If I'm being real though, Acid Rain was starting to lose me lately. They were shifting away from the futuristic WWII aesthetic and getting increasingly (in my opinion at least) vanilla sci-fi, which I had little interest in.

Their standard agurts releases still follow a pretty WW2 color scheme. The "walk in the park" set as well as the new marines are more grounded figures with flak armor and cloth goods.

The yamato figs have design reminiscent of shogunate armor. They are still pretty much in the sci-fi ww2 theme but they have moved past generic soldiers in soft goods and gas masks.

I’ve shilled Acid Rain for like 7ish years now but the shift to Toys Alliance and their move from post-apocalyptic rusty aesthetic to generic cyberpunk started to lose me and I told myself I’d stop buying but between the bikini top chick I made and the Osprey my interest has been rekindled somewhat. Also, I just caved and got the war corespondents because I think they’re brilliant. Thing about the TA Marines coming out though is that it’s exactly like putting a Sand Engineer head of the Corsac Trooper body which if you’ve ever tried you’ll know it doesn’t stay in place very well.

Originally the right hand moved up/down instead of side/side. I prefer this because it makes for a better low and ready position but when Toys Alliance took over from Ori Toy I noticed the hands oriented side/side at first before switching back to up/down. Mind you, the original females like the EOS Raider and AMM prospector reused the Omanga Trooper hands which have always been side/side so the up/down movement seems to be new with the more recent females

I cut the fire bit out then I cut the campfire ring into sections. I pulled the tealight apart so only the base and bulb was left. Drew round it on plasticard and cut out a bse for the whole thing. Made sure th tealight fit in the hole I cut out. then glued the sections of the campifre base round the hole and filled in the gaps with modelling putty (green stuff), textured it to resemble the plastic so it formed one big ring. then textured and painted the whole thing. Made some rocks out of cork to put around the base and painted them grey. Made firewood out of black-painted matchsticks glued into a sort of pyramid shape. Stuck the tealight in and switched it on, put a bot of orange gel over it. Viola. I might make some and sell them on Etsy or something as everyone likes it, adds a lot of atmosphere for photos.

Here it is. I also modelled slots for the two uprights so you can have the cooking pot hanging over the fire. The earth is painted with Citaadel paints - graveyard earth then a black wash then drybrush vomit brown. The texture is just sand stuck on with pva white glue.

Legit looks better than the NECA. The matte finish looks way nicer than NECA's slightly metallic paint, and this even has a little bit of scuffing.

I still don't understand why they won't give him toe articulation though. His "feeling for the stairs" is one of the most charming and iconic scenes in the movie.

An APC that can actually C the Ps is an absurdly difficult thing to find nowadays. Off the top of my head, there's the SW VC Transport, the M&C AMB World Peace Keepers AMB and that's about it. There are other things that LOOK like APCs, but don't actually provide any real ability to act as a transport and that always frustrates me.

Like, is it really that difficult to make a big empty truck with molded chairs and an opening lid/hatch? Like every 1:18 military toyline should be able to drop a nice simple APC to effectively carry figures in, it just seems like a no brainer to me, but everyone just seems to want to make trucks.

Oh I know of it, but it comes off as more of a big truck then an APC. It is nice it can hold 6+ figures, but I want stuff with fully armored hulls and more interesting cockpits. The Joytoy 4x4 is more akin to the G.I. Joe Vamp mk 2 where as I would like to see stuff closer to the G.I. Joe Rhino (which was based off the Aliens APC).

More tank like, less hummvee like.

If you want to make the same fig ive been posting, hes a combination of the eos raider (female body but comes w that sweet skull head and the back pack), osprey commando and maurader belt/pouches and helmet. In this pic the helmet is unweathered, doesn't really vibe with the rest of the gang.

nah, they're doing one of the newer tacticool designs.
They're called Infiltrators. An interesting choice but a disappointing one for most I imagine.
I guess this is a good starting point to focus on articulation like you said, while working up to the more iconic designs.

I also got the osprey troopers. How many do you guys get when "army building" or making a squad? My plan is to add a glaucus trooper and bob from walk in the park set. That should round them up to a 5 member team. Maybe add 2 more maelstrom trooper later on for variety.

For generic looking troops like infantrymen I’ll get at least 6, otherwise I’ll typically get 3. One for play, one for display, and another to sell/trade later. He's pretty neat, his guns are really soft plastic though which i kinda don't like and the hipflask has issues getting in the way of the revolver when its holstered causing the revolver to bend outta the way so I wouldn't have the hipflask on when you holster it for fear of warping the revolver if you leave it like that for a while but overall he's an amazingly painted space cowboy

Was between getting either the Osprey or the Glaucus, they both look super cool. Definitely gonna get a Maelstrom trooper, I love the way he looks. I don’t usually army build even though I would like to but it’s just kinda hard on the wallet, especially when so many of their individual figs are so cool. Does anyone else's Walk in the Park set feel very...sticky and rubbery? All characters feel that way. Very noticeable compared to the osprey or tamara or war correspondent releases.

The diorama parts also feel very rough, like straight outta spray painting without sanding territory.

The latest ARW figures I’ve gotten came with like a grease on the joints, probably as a lube since they’re somewhat stiff out of the box and people used to complain about snapping the knees in the Ori Toy days although I’ve never had an issue with it. My Taste of Coffee dudes are a little tough to bend at the knees though. As far as the texture that’s always been their thing. With how cyberpunk the lines gotten people either forget or don’t realize the line was originally this rusty post apocalyptic aesthetic so everything was rough and it’s why they have that dirty paint wash on everything. The tag line was “The War Under Pollution” and Laurels came with a hole in the box so you could “go feel it”

I get what you mean the by the greased joints like the ospreys, but the limbs and plastic are still solid. Do you have the walk in the park set? it is very different. Very sticky and rubbery limbs. I washed them with hot water and soap, maybe improved a bit but once it dries its sticky and rubbery again.
