Toy newb here.
Just received my first toy, the Bandai Dynaction Eva. Around $200. It has a few defects/dents in the material. But being a newb, i have no idea whether i should send it back and ask for a new one or not.
Picrel, small dents/scratches on the eva. Thoughts?

The left looks like a dent or a mold line, so that sucks. It’s a $200 figure so if you’re unhappy with it, try to return it or get a replacement.

Personally I’m ok with small imperfections like that, I only try to get returns on QC issues like broken joints. But everyone is different and there’s no reason to settle for imperfections in expensive stuff like this

none of them can be wiped off. Definitely damaged material. But hey, it's a ibg 40cm tall figure (or whatever this amounts to in burger units), so i dunno if i'm being a little bitch here.

My fear is that the replacement figure will actually have even more defects than this one, so wthat's one i'm asking for directions here.

No matter how much you paid for it, these toys are still mass produced, made in Chinese factories just like any cheap toys. You can't have a "perfect" unit when these are being made in the thousands. Even with a good QC they have to let certain things pass or none og them will shipout. So chances are even the replacement will have a similar level of imperfections, or worse.

As long as it's not something very noticeable, like paint issue on the face or chest, you should just accept it. Bandai Collectors Dep has a pretty high standard than others so you might get a better one but to me that looks like nothing. If that bothers you you might not like anything you get from now on.

Also, defects aside, this figure is pretty cool. Can't do a proper high kick pose though.

You could try buffing those marks out with a little t cut (pic related) on a soft cloth. But unfortunately that's how some toys come.

Seems like a problem with the release in general and not your specific figure. So your options would be: 1) be happy with what it is 2) return it if you aren't happy with it

Totally up to you. I considered buying one because I want a big EVA but didn't have the money, personally I don't think these shortcomings would have changed my mind because I would still like to own a fuckhuge EVA. But if you aren't satisfied, no reason to keep it, of course

No, i'm gonna keep the figure as it is. Anyways, from what i understand, 200 bucks for a big figure like that is considered pretty cheap, so i can't ask for patek philippe levels of finish.

The Dynaction Eva-01 is shit, all copies are bad (even if some low standards fag will always pop and say otherwise). Most Bandai products are way better. If you want a good Eva, go for Robot Damashii v2 or Threezero Robo-dou.

Yours seems to have basically the same small defects mine does. Same spot on the helmet too as >>9008722 pointed out.
