Oh god I forgot how bad some sets were, i'm now remember an old pneumatic technic set I had that just came with 1-2 long tubes and you had to cut them to specific lengths, and the tube had maybe 3-5mm of extra length overall so fucking up was not an option.

When I am trying to piece sets together out of huge masses of parts I organize by color then part. After finished sorting out all the colors I dump all the black for example on the table, roughly organize them by type, and then go down through the most important set on my list and pull out all the black pieces that belong to that set. Then the next set and so on. Whatever is left over on the table goes into my drawers which are organized by part type. The reason I sort by color first is that is just makes it more manageable to do it in steps.

sorting by color is better on the small scale of a new set
but when you are going through your entire collection trying to piece something together from a list online, or just working on a custom build, by part is much better I have done both

Whats obnoxious about blue, dark blue and trans neon orange? The villains colors were all over the place and mostly terrible but the main builds for the knights were always blue, dark blue, trans neon orange with accents in the color of the knight.

for me boxes and instructions are worthless.

If a collector wants a boxed set, they look for unopened set. If you opened, it you probably built it, and you can't sell it as unopened anyway. And if somebody wants a set to build it, they care little to none whenever it still has the box or not. I keep the instructions in one big box, to know what sets I have, but even if I would loose some, I could still download them any day.

At least that's my point of view on it.

That's the idea, I started building with a lot more detail but it was way too fragile to swoosh around. I just focused on making sure important bits (wings, nose, intakes, tail) were the right size and shape and in the right place, they probably don't need to be really detailed to look right.

The (second) monorail belongs to Unitron which wasn't a proper theme in European catalogues but got other sets elsewhere. Even a second base besides the monorail.
Unitron looks like some sort of Futuron reboot which is strange as Exploriens seem to be based on Exploriens as well.
The other themes of the that era were Spyrius and the Exploriens. After that came the Insectoids and UFO.

Coins are generic and don’t even look like they’re from Lego sets. Studs are more unique and look more Lego-ish because they’re compatible with Lego pieces.
Also, it’s easy to look at the color of the stud and determine its value, but seeing the small number on the coin might be tricky.

The thing is made of semi-soft plastic (probably the same stuff that those ladder pieces are made of) and is reasonably thick so there's no way to crack it, even deliberately, like that on your own.
The only explaination I can bring up is some sort of Gold Plastic Syndrome since the red and silver versions I have of that part are still A-OK while the two gold ones have developed those cracks.

I did.

Not my fault that they kept ignoring my multiple emails over the years.
They DID call me back once, though, and confirmed that they're aware of the issues with clips and the like breaking but couldn't answer me why this still persists after a decade and why they changed the plastic for such delicate connections in the first place (clips, at least the normal ones on 1x1 plates or flags, were once actually made from softer plastic).

They also told me that they'd greenlight all my replacement orders when I write them an email along with it (since their system already flagged my orders as abuse) which of course I did.
What I got in return was a mail from another member of their customer service that didn't know how to handle my request.
After writing them AGAIN and even sending screenshots of everything to him I'm still waiting for a reply for like half a year now and honestly, I don't even care anymore - neither about that order for some fucking clip pieces or that company altogether.
I've genuinely never seen such a shit customer service before and you can't even blame it on Corona, home office and such since this issue with their lack of replies was already the case way before that.

The part is supposed to be attached to those torso shells on Iron Man's shoulders.
HOWEVER, they don't actually fit properly and the pegs can't be pushed into the holes all the way through - unless you do it in LDD or something where the part gleefully clips into the shell.
Perhaps that's where the stress came from but I don't remember ever pushing it in THAT hard, not to mention that the figure wasn't particularly long assembled, either, and mostly just moc-fodder.

I don't know if you want to do it the way I did it. The brown flat plates aren't actually attached to anything. On the top side they're held by two studs stacked on top of each other with the narrow part wedged in the gap between the 'teeth' of the 45 degree angle plates. The bottom side is held on by 2x1 plate that hooks around the bottom. Pic related shows how it's arranged. It's very compact and stable once assembled, but borderline illegal and a pain in the ass to put together properly.

I've tried a bit and come up with this. It's really flimsy and doesn't hold square because all of the plates are held on by a single stud. The geometry of it is also slightly different and it's not possible to make the angle plates square. My lego collection is about 10 years out of date so I don't know if there's any new pieces that could help, but it won't work like this.

Pearl gold looks like ass. Exactly identical to all those horrific metallic colours Mega used to use back in the late 90s because they were too cheap to chrome or drum lacquer pieces. Not to mention the equally awful and incredibly sloppy quality control pearl gold has, with some pieces being an obviously different shade to others and some having badly mixed pigment with a load of dark swirls in them.

The instructions for that roof are needlessly elaborate and could be easily condensed into like two or three steps and somehow they also managed to include a huge printing error in the instructions.

As for the truck, it's complete and utter dogshit in terms of pretty much everything: construction, functions, colors, motors, etc.
And to top it all off, it was ridiculously expensive and the flagship model for Technic's 40th anniversary.

Structurally, it would be the same. Checking out the booklet for this set, it seems like the designer or someone else in the team wanted to cut some steps off the instructions and this was the best idea they got.

Absolutely. I remember getting shit in some fagbook group for saying that really most adults wouldn't need colourful parts. I don't think it's fun to build and looks like shit while you build. It prevented me from buying sets for parts for a long while now and I stopped buying sets alltogether. My last set was the new street system on Jan 2nd, after that us was Bricklink and offbrand parts lol.

Is this the used lego market for anybody else? This lady is trying to sell this lot for $400, marked down from the $600 she had it posted for about 2 months ago.

craigslist is dead basically and all the people on fb overinflate their prices because they either pull them out of their ass or get them from amazon. The only set I foud that I was interested in was 42082 rough terrain crane, which sells for about $230 nib, a guy has listed for $350 and won't budge.

Yeah its like that for me too. Most of them are retarded parents that heard some shit about Lego being a better investment than gold so they think their kid's badly chewed, half-complete City/Chima/Nexo Knights set is worth a fortune. There's never any interesting Lego because most of the time the stuff being sold is still on shelves so there's no reason to spend more than RRP on used, damaged goods, or the occasional vintage lot is badly overpriced too but bought up by some retard that's never heard of Bricklink.

Trying to sell is even worse. I'll get a dozen people all wanting to know if I still have X item and when I say I do they never respond. I'll then get the local scalper(s) lowballing me at a ridiculous price like I'm going to give them stuff for nothing or sometimes they'll want to purchase a specific minifigure from a lot but again offer stupidly low offers. I was selling a sealed Lego Star Wars annual that came with a C3PO for £2.50 and some retard was insisting that I separate the figure and sell it to him for £0.50 because he didn't want the book. He just couldn't get it in his head I wasn't going to sell it to him for that price or that I wasn't interested in selling it separately. Funniest part was his profile pic though - complete lardass dressed in camo (looked like he'd poked holes in a tent for him to fit in it) with a MAGA hat despite the fact we're in the UK and he was a native Brit.
