>>9039734That got a legimate 'LOL' out of me.
>>9041254Hard to say, as the only Rival flywheel design I have is the Perses, and that's not a fair comparison. The Velocity takes 6 D-cell(!) batteries otherwise (9V total), which makes it kinda heavy (I managed to sling it despite having no sling points), so that's why I got the Rival battery for it. Much lighter now. Performance seems improved too, the flywheels rev up a bit faster I'd say.
The hopper (recommended 40, but I could fit 47 in mine) makes it fast and easy to reload, and the problem with the old version was the lack of an agitator, which is fixed in the new one. Old version had a 25 round hopper too. Anyway, new one has a plate on the bottom of the hopper that pops up to 'agitate' the rounds every time you pull the trigger. I don't get too many dryfires, but as with most hopper designs, an occasional shake doesn't hurt either.
The hopper is very prominently on top of the blaster, so there are canted rails on the sides, and it comes with a dinky sight which I find useful? on my Spectrum. The way I tend to shoot it, and it's somewhat unorthodox, is to place the buttplate directly on my sternum, so my head/eyes are directly over the blaster, narrow my arm profile, and it shoots straight with the body. You can do with with real firearms as well, but I wouldn't recommend it with anything over pistol caliber.
The reason I got the Velocity in the first place was because I really didn't want to have to invest in the Rival stick mags, not with all the various dart mags I have. No knock against them, but they max out at 18 rounds? I just see hoppers as the way to go with Rival blasters. The spherical shape of the ammo just lends itself so well to it. It may be weird-looking, but it's solid and shoots well, and I got mine brand new for $40 shipped on eBay. No complaints.
