My bedroom? A detolfs worth plus several 2 extra wall shelves. My home office? 100 or so? I dunno.

Not about the figures. The rack of guns and gear? That always gets an eyebrow. Most recent thing for me was I had a new mattress delivered and the delivery guys commented on how cool they thought my DBZ detolf was and how they loved DBZ.

My home office is my primary display room. I'd move the detolf in there if I wasn't so lazy and rearranged the layout a bit.

It's subjective from day to day really. At the moment I'm more into playing Yugioh and that is kind of eating up my attention.

When you're not happy anymore. I'll be honest, I have a clusterfuck, but it makes me happy.

They all generally think its cool. One girl wanted to do cam pics in the room. My sister and her husband thinks its too much but he's drooled over figures.

I have a detolfs with Neca/Retro Alien and Dragon Ball SHF. In the hallway I put a dispay cabinet with MOTUC evil warriors, NECA Horror, and Mezco Ghostbusters. I try to keep stuff away from my bedroom but I also use it as my drawing room so I'll have a few figures for reference. I have been keeping NECA's 1/4 turtles MISB on display for now but eventually I'll free them.

Sentinel Dancouga and Yamato Ingram. Both just about flawless.

So I display them in an office/library/recording room/display room. The number out varies fromm around 100 to 400. I have a lot of small figures.

So much that I can't display my whole collection in one room and still have it look nice not a huge clusterfuck. Right now i can display the whole collection in that roomn if it wasnt also used for recording and office I could fit double.

Its been more positive than bad. But yeah i think any collection be it toys or anything sparks conversation amd opinions.

0. Office, probably close to 6-800+ individual pieces. About the same amount undisplayed as well

We just moved in half a year ago and it's covid so we haven't really had many people over. But the ones that do come over, we give the tour to and every single person has stopped to take in all the shelves in the office

It's usually met with positive reception. I can tell sometimes that people are just saying it looks cool because they want to make me feel better for spending thousands of dollars on toys. Little do they know I don't care about their opinions either way

Old pic but it's my current set up. Also these questions seem like a thinly veiled attempt to justify a display from someone that is less than confident in displaying their toys. It's 2021 and there are bigger issues out there than someone judging you for having a toy collection

14 Nendos, 6 figmas, 3 1000toys figs, a couple other and smaller figs, 7 statues. A couple more on preorder and a few still trapped in Japan since last year.

When it stops being manageable. I only collect figures of characters I like or when the design appeals to me. I don't collect just to have a fuckton of stuff like a hoarder.

Old kebab dude then went on to berate me. I should get a gf (which I had at that point) instead of playing with toys.

Some smaller figures actually drive the count much higher than that, but I guess you could convert them to end up with that comparable volume of 100 6" figures.

The toys are pretty visible, so they usually get some minor comments. Positive or understanding, at least to my face, especially from people my age or younger. Old man going like "Cool, you keep your childhood toys". Mom going like "Those are some big breasts".

Which is literally the second result on google when I searched "how to add shelves to detolf". There are other guides though. I figured a fellow TF hoarder would make sturdy shelves
I was able to get most of these detolfs 2nd hand locally ranging from $10-$30 CAD. The guy's right though, buying the actual glass panes from a glasscutter in my city was $280 for 24 panes iirc so the price of the display cases pretty much doubled. Even still, there isn't much else that hit all my boxes outside of custom shelving which is like $2k just for 1 really nice shelf.

The empty space at the top of detolf shelves (when you display 1/12 and smaller figures) was the only thing that bothered me about them. This fixes that for me and at ~$50 - $70 CAD a case, there aren't many better options for me

It is a nice idea, but to me cutting the space in half like that made the shelves more clusterfucky. I prefer to use risers and just have the guys in the back up higher.

I understand where you're coming from. I tried the risers way and prefer it the split shelf way for coincidentally the same reason you pointed out--that it looks too clusterfucky. Here's my line of thinking;
Within a single "cube" or shelf in a detolf, there's a finite amount of space. In one cube, say you can fit.. 10 figures total, 5 at the top of the risers and 5 at the bottom. But you also have to account for the space the risers take up. It's 10 figures and 3-5 risers in that finite space. Now, alternatively, the half shelf can cut the detolf cube in 2, and hold the same 10 figures, 5 on the top shelf and 5 on the bottom shelf. But without the added clusterfuck of the 5 risers.
Also, I find that when you use risers, the formula is usually "back high, front low" which leaves this kind of inverted triangle of negative/unused space within a single detolf cube. The split shelf method doesn't have this negative space, and allows you to space out your figures more by using the space normally occupied by that inverted triangle when using the risers method.
