>>9009267I was sort of reminiscing last night. Remember when Squaresoft used to be cool? They were the "it" company in the late 90s. Aside from their typical fantasy RPG fare, which they already killed at, they were dabbling in a ton of other genres and for the most part, making cool ass shit. Tobal, Bushido Blade, Ehrgeiz, Racing Lagoon, Cyber Org, Einhander. Had some great fucking times with those.
It was kind of surprising to remember all of this, cause Square-Enix seems so stilted and dorky nowadays. The Final Fantasy franchise has not been appealing in years, Kingdom Hearts quickly turned a promising start into a fucking mess, etc. etc. I miss old Square. I miss when you could be proud of liking them. I miss when just seeing this logo on boot was instantly exciting. I even miss the toys they made during that era, like the old Front Mission figures through Koto.
