>>9013887my beef with things like adults being used in lego ads, is that the toy market is yet another hobby that is being absorbed into the mainstream.
its like video games. They were marketed for a very long time as a kid's toy, but adults still got into them. Those adults were mocked for being into a childish thing. The industry was good though, great games were made, but then faux nerd shit hit the mainstream and the shift went from being marketed at kids to adults, and the hobby got fucked.
So it seems like now the same is happening with toys. It was marketed as for kids, but adults liked it too. Got teased, but now, a bit later than video games, its starting to be promoted as a nerd thing, and its okay for adults to get into.
And with that you get bullshit like, lego sets that cost way too much, more than theyre really worth, toys are also starting to go up in price because they know adults are the mainly buying these things. ( dont get me wrong there are other factors to the price increase but you cant ignore the mainstream view that nerds are cool is a factor) and it is probably gonna fuck the hobby up big time.
actually, the whole scalping situation with NECA tmnt is a product of this new found acceptance of toys among normie adults.
