I missed out on getting a first edition wolverine, parents didn’t buy it when we saw it. Sold when I went back to get it. What toys did you miss out on because of your stupid parents?

I never got to enjoy large-scale lego sets as a kid because of the general expense of it. i was raised/warned never to ask for expensive stuff from friends/relatives in form of occasional gifts because it was simply selfish. Meanwhile, I was happy to at least have a collection of small/medium sets since i could make whatever I wanted. even today, i could just bricklink what i want. But i still feel that great void, and i just dont have the motivation to buy them anymore.

The part of that story that gets make is his parents got him a second edition Wolverine figure but that wasn’t good enough, because it wasn’t rare (which is the only reason he wanted it).
He’s still pissed about it to this day, you can tell from the way he tell the story and venom he has towards his parents.

I had even projected him to be the leader of my maximals since I hadn't seen the show at the time I saw the figure on shelves, though I already had a bootleg Cheetor.
This happened at a time when 30 dollars was prohibitively expensive for a toy and my mom was also trying to revive her own toy business, ironically. She then stole like half of my dad's savings and somehow lost them after I told my dad about it; though it's very possible that she did it happened because I opened like 20 fucking boxes of Lego she was going to sell the year before this happened.

I have no fucking clue how the IQ tests I was given some years after that got high numbers. I've always been an idiot.

I got BWII Apache some years ago and could feel that sinking feeling of realizing it wasn't the toy itself but the time I never got to spend with it that I was missing, and I'm never getting that back.
