>>9050424Just the Hordika? Definitely not when awful Stars, lukewarm Glatorian, boring ass Toa Mistika and zombie Summer 2016 exist.
2005 as a whole? No fucking way.
I'm probably the only person in the multiverse who prefers 2005 to 2004. The Metru after the initial hype never clicked with me. I thought their masks and weapons were inferior to the Mata/Nuva, and the dark hue+dark bley schemes were supremely boring to look at. This became more apparent once Lhikan and the Hagah duo came and made their flaws more glaring.
I'm not going to say the Hordika were outstanding sets (clones, color schemes, rubbery weapons, articulation issues, etc, more boring color schemes), but their mask-heads are really cool and brought some of the most useful pieces of that era (chest armor, feet and the "Hordika neck").
The Visorak weren't groundbreaking, but there were a lot more striking than the Vahki and finally brought back what 2004 had killed: COLORS. The Visorak were the first sets to bring back bright colors and combine them with the new darker hues.
2005 had the Titans and Toa Hagah, 2004 had Lhikan. The winner is clear to me, as much as I love Lhikan.
Story wise? Agreed, pretty weak year. The story team didn't even want to do 2005 and it shows. But it was a slower, "less important" year that managed to add some neat side lore, like how the Avohkii was hidden, the Toa Hagah, more stuff about the Dark Hunters and of course Time Trap. And I think that was the first year the OoMN was mentioned.
First and only year with a female main villain too.
Not a fan of the "ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME" plot though, for sure.
If I were to rewrite Bionicle, I'd probably skip the entire Hordika plot, but still look for a way to fit all those lore bits somewhere.
Tl;dr: 2005 wasn't bad at all, more mid-tier in the grand scheme of things.
