There are plenty of series' that do this
I love comics, I do but when it comes to Marvel/DC stuff it's a hassle and when I do want to read their stuff I don't even bother with what's canon, going on, etc anymore
It's such a problem it becomes infuriating seeing people assume it goes for comics in general, people act as if Invincible's revolutionary in comics because it has a beginning, middle, and end
Marvel and DC's problems sadly applies to Spawn as well, there's so many retcons, lack of focus, and supplementary material that it's hard to keep track never mind the rough beginning being hard to read because of how dated the writing is and how Todd never really improved that much over the course of 300 issues
Not saying he didn't improve but the comics were always carried by style over substance even when the stories did get interesting eventually
