Just got my MD Baselard and Summer-Hres-chan in (along with some third party face decals from Amaii and Bloody Trigger). Baselard literally looks like an outright superior incarnation of her FAG self. The obvious increased torso and waist articulation is worth it alone, not to mention the more accurate short size. The Summer-Hres looks like she's going to be fun though. All the new parts just look like they'll be really fun to play around with considering how expressive her new faceplates are.

So this torso joint needs pressure from the sides to be tight, I added superglue to where it sits on the one side, carved it out, then jammed the joint back in. That added a little resistance but still not enough. Should I add more glue to the other torso half? Or is there something I can do to the joint itself to tighten it?

>>9058475 My krakendress needed that joint filed out with a round file to not be destructively tight, and despite appearing like it wouldn't be secure with the cradle it sits in the joint is quite secure.
What exactly is the problem your having, because that joint isn't side pressure reliant, ot gets its tightness from the rod. Also a note, that joint doesn't need to hold much weight beyond her upper body and hammer since everything else attaches to her lower back.

I can't speak for the regularity with which this might happen, as i don't remember all his pics, but as long as he's not consistently reposting the same 5 pics or something, it's fine. I and many others have reposted our favorite shots numerous times on this board. And he posts more than enough OC to justify reposting some pics sometimes in my opinion.

The ball joints stand a good chance of destroying either themselves or the joint sockets, so you'll want to smooth those joints down till they're as smooth as a newborn baby's ass. Other than that particular joint problem there is no issue that's spread across the majority of printings, just typical mecha musume crap that happens on a kit-by-kit basis.

>>9063585 Pretty sure they just mean make sure the nub comes off of the ball joint smooth when you remove from the runner. Not the cup. Anyways, don't do any sanding unless it is needed, you might be lucky and it all just works. If you plug something in and it's tight just carefully remove and sand it a little at a time, you don't want to sand too much and then have it loose. That's harder to fix.
Besides that, there are a few rings/disk pieces made from the pearl, couple that go in between the thighs and biceps, plus the heel of the heels is connected with one of these pearl rings. These break so easy. Dont let her stand on the weight of the heel, use the included stand. And the thigh disc broke on me just trying to wiggle the thigh out of the socket
>>9063052 Ive got it fixed now with the topcoat! And nice, eventually ill have enough extra for a whole body. On that note of extras, why do we get so many face decals when they only give us one blank face?
Anonymous
>>9063567 I think this goes without saying because I'm assuming everyone here has at least built ONE kit with ball joints. Making the joint smooth like I said and altering the diameter through heavier sanding are two COMPLETELY different things.
>>9063585 As I said, just SMOOTH the things out if there's any resistance. Obviously you have to test fit first. One of the tentacles might be fine. They all might be fine. Or maybe they're all stupidly tight. The point is that the tentacle joints are the one collective issue you're almost guaranteed to have with the kit.
Anonymous
>>9063934 The ball is textured to provide friction in the socket without causing stress, any change to the ball itself loosens the joint more than it needs to be. Do not polish the ball.
>>9063644 No. The detent is what "holds" the ball in the socket removing it makes it so the socket doesn't flex when the ball is inserted.
>>9063585 It isn't difficult once you see it. A ball joint cup isn't perfectly u shaped, it has a bump at the lip to hold the ball in, this on krakendress is far bigger than it needs to be. Sanding or shaving it down will prevent the pearl plastic from flexing wich is why the socket is so prone to cracking. Don't do any modifications to the ball end unless you want the armature to flop around.
I have posted this image before, but it shows that the tentacles hold weight fine without the detent. They won't just fall out on you.

I tried to get as many of Lavinas parts on her as possible, but the design of her parts aren't quite as unspecialized as the arnval mk2 parts are. The arm units look pretty great, but I don't care much for how i got the rest mashed up into a big tail like weapon rack... I never noticed that her markings are extremely similar to gourai kai's before. Just finished up building and seam welding md Base. Every single new thing is almost totally perfect, this body is fantastic, I can't sing high enough praises for the main body. Her faces capture the character perfectly, the posability makes big expressive poses super easy to accomplish. All is not amazing though unfortunately... the actual armor is really starting to show its age. With the exception of the parts that got retooled for zelfigar, the armor is a mess. Flash, mold lines, sinking, texture flaws, its all screwy. The dark gray parts get it particularly bad, with small ridges flash aaaaall over them. Its nice that we got the parts to make her a md zelfigar though, that was a pleasant surprise. I'm not saying that the problems with the armor are a big enough detractor to take away from the main body though, even with the flaws the whole is still fantastic, and i strongly recommend getting her. She's gonna be extremely expensive on the second market isn't she...

>>9067719 I didn't actually have any flash issues with the two I built, but that's probably an issue of winning/losing the mold lottery. Like you said though, it's not really that much of an issue since it's stupid easy to clean up. Just tedious. That being said, you're right about her. Her body is now the definitive Baselard for sure, and while the mecha bits could be done better (they're literally just downsized from the FAG version) they get the job done splendidly. Literal only downside of the kit is if your copy has flash to clean up.
>>9068077 >I still see her readily available here locally Brother at retail price That's because of where you live. Once your store goes through those (and this is true of any store) the price is going to skyrocket. ALL of the loli-body kits go up in price relatively quickly. People gobble them up for loli-based customs since there's still no cheap loli-body kit people can buy purely for customs (unlike the MANY cheap options people have to buy regular bodies for customs).

Even the mecanical tail that was designed to fit the contours of og Base is the same to the point it doesn't even remotely match up with the new bodys back. If it isn't directly part of Base herself or an adapter for the armor itself it isn't new.
The weapon runners are what have the worst sinking and texture flaws, one of the gun handles loom like it had a bad bout of chicken pox. This extends to the verniers too, they have some minor mold lines around their edges. Some of the contents of the k plate excluding the shoulder parts had mold lines and flash since the original version and they have only gotten worse, with the hip vernier housings having some ugly ones.
>>9071423 The problem is that, while there is a kit in the pictures, it isn't even attempting to make them the focus of the image, then the same images will be spammed repeatedly with no regard to any flow of discussion. What's the buying process like for purchasing directly from Muscuto? Is the upcoming AK19 event physical sales only? I want one of the newer torsos but Mandarake is a bit unreliable and I can't into moonrunes so I don't know what other GK shops are out there.
Anonymous
>>9084072 Short answer, no
Long answer, muscuto used to in extreme rarity sell some select things internationally, there were a shit ton of problems (unfulfilled paid orders, broken parts, workload he was totally unprepared for) and he hasn't done it since. Some sellers at ak19 have shops concurrently on Booth, but muscuto does not. Unless you show up inperson, your going to have to buy second hand, but at the same time, even if you did go in person he never reliably stocks enough parts to last more than a few minutes.
This all coming from first hand twitter posts and accounts from people here, make of it what you will.
Anonymous
>>9084116 >>9084072 Last year he actually had a run where he was taking international orders through his website. Orders were open for a pretty decent window of time too. I didn't buy anything that time so I couldn't tell you what the experience was after that point, but I remember at least one anon in these threads complaining that Muscuto made him pay an additional fee for shipping even after paying for the whole order.

The color on those is frequently not the greatest either, at least for the sets meant specifically for certain girls. Just get the GKM stuff. Fuck trying to find his overpriced "official" stuff. If you can put together a simple garage kit option set then you can probably paint the skin on both the option set and kit to match if necessary anyways.

Just finished up building muscuto's Jeanne, it was hell on wheels. Her legs came out scuffed as hell thanks to there being humongus mold lines down the sides, and color resin doesn't take to sanding very well. It's not horrible, but I can't help but notice it. >>9090680 If you go higher up I just posted Qinglong a couple days ago. The company that is actually behind them is E-model. Heracross is fairly mid tier for them, her unarmored head looks pretty bad and her eyes look absolutely ridiculous, the posability is pretty decent and she has funny tiny hands. None of e-models kits are particularly beginner friendly and require a bit of modeling knowledge to get the most out of them, for instance, Qinglongs knees as I showed above.

>>9091152 I haven't built arachne 2.0, but the old one had some snapfit problems with the spherical joints on the base of the spider legs being so tight they can't be put together without modifications, and her waist, despite being based off md, is intentionally limited to an odd degree and the t-bar shows through the gaps between her pelvis and thighs. I assure you that is all the same on every version of her.
If you want to start getting atkgirls start with Xuanwu or serket, if you like either of them the others are fair game. If you like how heracross looks id recommend her as well, when her armor is on it hides a bunch of the heads problems pretty well.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9091152 Forgot to mention snail shell. They are complete figures, they have metal parts and wierd tolerances. Out of box my wolf couldn't hold a pose thanks to how weak the torso joints where. The armor parts are extremely light, which helps stability, but is kind of scary as far as overall longevity of the parts.
There stuff just seems to be more about the design than making a solid figure.
