>>9078302You really can't replace chrome and substitutes are usually shit, if not more expensive.
>>9078312>I imagine cars and tech don't care about durability. Dumb.
It's very important toward the appearance of their wares, so they do care a lot.
Cars especially are known for their long term dependability and a lot of former mainstays like General Motors suffered when they started cheaping out and were no longer reliable.
Tech though? They don't even need to cheap out, because shit environmental laws helped them out when they stopped using durable resistant materials like cheapass lead, and instead using more expensive (and less durable) materials because they had to.
Plus, with how fast software (applications, OSes, games) moves, old shit just can't keep up.... or couldn't. We've hit a wall where tech actually hasn't improved like it used to.
I still have my original iphone from way back when and it used to still work with almost everything up until like 4 years ago. Then pandora stopped working, then youtube, etc, and now it can't even get service anymore because ATT stopped supporting it (i switched to an HTC phone way back in 2010 though and have since had like 8 other phones since).
So
quality tech actually works fine for a long time. It's support that makes shit obsolete.
Also, here's Silver Surfer looking as as fuck with its fineass pearlesque silver paint. You can see a hint of blue and pink that is more noticeable in person.
