This line is dead, and the only thing that can fix it are 2.0 body molds with neck articulation and pinless joints. Also getting rid of the photo real head and investing all the money into paint application.

It’s not even just Super 7 at this point. Mezco is also doing 6” rangers but they’re cloth. These figures are considered high end collectibles and don’t compete with LC at their $20 price point. Threezero has $100+ 12” figs, Mezco will probably be $100+ each, S7 is guaranteed $55. I just wish S7 would stick to their roots and follow the Japanese aspects and not even follow the absolute dogshit show Power Rangers is. I’d rather see the Japanese actors heads than the American ones.

Yup. Seems they have some success selling teams as Shodo on PBandai but SHF is dead while Kamen Rider thrives. Maybe it’s just not that popular except for older series. Also could have been stupid Bandais selling model. Red and blue or green are sold as retail, rest of the team is PB. And sometimes solicited way later. I mean most of the male bodies were repaints or a new head. They shouldvff red tried selling the team at once or all at retail. The catch 22 was most of these teams were way old at this point.

it's pointless to invest money in paint application when they don't even bother being consistent with the paint apps in figures from the same season (see: SPD morpher)

i'm bothered because this line is clearly just a research and devlopment line for photo real heads, so they can do it faster for movies. anything else always comes secondary. that include paint apps and weapons. half the figures have qc issues.

How many issues were they selling the first year? How many people read them online for free (you don't even have to steal them, you can use the Hoopla app to read the entire series and many other comics if you have a library card). Actor likenesses are a difficult thing to nail for any property, even with face scanning. Even companies like Hot Toys who charge hundreds of dollars have not only botched likenesses, but botched the same likeness multiple times. Lightning Collection has some really great likenesses, some really terrible ones, and most are probably middle of the road. I'm fine with a middle of the road likeness for a $20 figure. I think the decent to great ones far outnumber the bad ones.

People will complain about the joints because they're retards who only look at the POA advertised on a box, but s7 does range of motion better than Hasbro because they sculpt their figures better. The LC Green Ranger has double elbow and butterfly but it's so poorly done you have to unnaturally rotate his chest to hit that same pose the s7 is doing, otherwise you can only get this.

It's the lack of universal wrist joint. Having just hinges that work in one direction kills the pose. Otherwise, the LC can hit the pose the same. Hasbro needs to figure out when to use vertical and lateral wrist movement, or just use ball joints.

My standard of 6 troops would be $330 plus tax on top of the other 4 figures. MMPR isn’t going to get aged out anytime soon, even for people who weren’t alive when it was around. I was a kid when Lightspeed and Time Force started, with Ninja Storm-SPD being my bread and butter, but I still buy merch from MMPR. Not saying my case is the same for everyone, but the fact that the OG team gets shoved down everyone’s throats so much means that people who enjoyed later series inevitably get drawn into the original somehow, whether that’s watching the show or just buying the merch.

Zordbuilder would have been awesome if some of the more annoying pegs could be folded away (the Dino Charge T-rex Zord comes to mind first). I'm crossing my fingers that Hasbro does something interesting with the Dino Fury Zord system. We've already got a couple of bonus parts included with one of the 2-packs and surely they'll throw in some more with auxiliary Zords if they do those.
Bandai seems to have done role play toys better than Hasbro's main line so far. They definitely had a lot of fuck-ups but Legendary Morpher VS Dino Fury Morpher is no contest. Hasbro's Beast-X Morpher looks pretty good but then they made it talk for some reason. And their Striker Morpher got BTFOed by a $5 magazine toy

I’d understand if someone stuck with Lightning. The articulation may or may not be better on these, but the face sculpts look very hit or miss as well. Accessory count is definitely better but if the faces are worse, the articulation is worse, the scale is larger, and the price is more expensive, can you really say they’re 100% better?
Lightning needs to fix their helmets and paint issues, and let them put their arms down, but these figures look like they might have their own differences that make someone less interested.

as far as the actors there were definitely 18 year olds in HS that looked way older than their age, so i guess that. Also the background and lighting isn't doing anyone any favors, David Yost was the oldest one in his 20s but he already looks like he is in his 30s in that pic. Amy Jo also looks far older. Walter Jones looks the youngest despite being the second oldest ranger.

My one complaint is that the special accessories are very Trini-centric - Mr. Ticklesneezer and the Shellshock flower. But there's nothing for Aisha aside from the head. She's forgettable, didn't even make it past MMPR and got replaced because of it. Rocky and Adam got to hang out for another season and half becoming other rangers so they are more popular. Adam returned as black ranger twice and Rocky as red just recently.
It's already doing Trini a disservice that she can't have two different headsculpts so that Aisha can have one.

It easily could, but the entire foundation of the series was to exploit the work the gooks have already done and make a show for pennies on the dollar. That's why Haim Saban is a billionaire today. Disney got the series as part of a package deal, they didn't want it, and were willing to invest even less money into it than king jew. Sentai has been struggling in recent years, and if you were to remove Power Rangers from the equation it probably wouldn't be able to sustain itself. The ratings have been consistently dropping the last twenty years, and the merch sales aren't doing so hot either.

You think so? Lupat made 6.9 billion in 2018 as illustrated in the above chart. When factoring in Power Rangers, Bandai made 19.4 billion in the same year from Ranger properties. April 2019 was when Hasbro's takeover went into full effect, so Bandai got very little help from Power Rangers, earning only 10.2 billion yen (a bit below what they forecasted above). Without any Power Rangers sales 2020 and 2021 have been real rough.

Idk how much you think the Figuarts cost. But it wasn’t $55. So if they can sell Zeo at $55, they could’ve done it for Figuarts at a lower price point.
