They need to stop with these knees. It doesn’t look good neutrally from behind and it doesn’t look good being used. Is it a cost thing? Being single jointed and sturdy probably help.

This is bar-none my favorite manga, but I still feel a little iffy. I'm pissed that even after the negative reception they still left Nikaido a statue. She's a fighter too, it's a goddamn crime to leave her unarticulated.

The final nail in the coffin was Kaiman's headsculpts though. They just kinda look off to me, just like ThreeZero's did. I guess it's hard to capture Kaiman's essence in 3D form? Anyway, I have already dropped like $300 on two 1/6 Kaiman figures that I wasn't even totally happy with headsculpt-wise, so I don't think I have it in me to compromise a third time.

Being shared joints is the most cost effective part so they could've designed them differently from the start. Some Figuarts have similar knees but looks better, but they also bend less further I think. IDK double joints have their problems too, I don't think for example "floating knee cap" looks good with pants legs like these. Even straight position you get one extra cut line in the sculpt.

I think the size of the actual joint is more of the problem. A smaller hinge at the edge of the back of the knee probably works best in the end. Like Figma. Or make the single hinge knee with the keg sculpts themselves like some AY. The plastic of the joint, the peg and socket in this case will me internal and unseen.

Were Killy and Hellboy the only good fogs by this company so far?
Etherow was okay,but had minor issues (and a vile store exclusive part), but the other stuff so far seems rather unappealing like Master Chef and Juzo.

Who knows at this point. They have so many prototypes that have been absent for a long time now e.g. the Biomega figure, piss bot from APOSIMZ, Lobster Johnson, the 1/1 scale Beam Emitter from BLAME! that got teased but died after the teaser (fuck you 1000toys)

I’d put Juzo almost on par with Hellboy, but his shoulders/biceps are weird and I don’t like them. Other than that solid release. Very little is coming up to the level of early Synthetic Human, though, and I’m sad they dropped Robox so quickly.

especially for a character as agile as nikaido she absolutely deserves to be articulated, and even though I do want caiman I don't want to pay so much more for a static piece.

That high price probably covers the profit margin they expect on the number of figures this character is expected to sell (maybe demand is higher than that?) and the statue is really just a bonus, costs very little. Even without her they probably can't afford to drop price that much lower. Feel sorry for the fans, but probably not getting the price you want unless Bandai gets onboard.

They probably won't man. Dorohedoro is over + niche, and the anime was popular but not a hit. JK (Mappa's other anime) took off and the Chainsaw Man PV got mainstream hype the way Dorohedoro never did. This is probably the best we'll ever get.

Nikaido and Noi being stuck as statues that only exist to hike up the cost sucks so much cock it makes Georgia looks like Georgia.
Imagen paying 200$ for a character as dynamic and in as much need to be super articulated as the other only to get STACH'D like a cuck.
Hurts the soul, especially for 200 USD retail.
Just get the three0 1/6 scale stuff at that point.

Yeah this severe otaku will pay anyways mentality is getting out of hand. It's why companies of their size usually make PVC figures with shared simple joints. They're overreaching. And the engineering for these 1/12 lately aren't even that impressive anymore, becoming more figma-like than figuarts if you ask me.

Oh they absolutely can reduce price, I remember a toy line headed by an american that used their facilities like bluefin did, called armarauders. A cool modular articulate giant robot toy line with pilots. They wanted to retail the monsters for 100 or150 at nearly 12 inches. Sentinel told them they couldn't do that because it'd make them look bad, combine that with the dmc shitshow and what they did to bluefin and megaman and you'll see they're just greedy and know otaku will pay.

But i'll just go to better avenues if they're gonna do this crap.

I agree. Although I think that if Nikaido was articulated their price would be too much for two 6" figures with those bad joints.
I believe that 5-6kJPY is a safe bet for each piece. They are selling two for 9,5k each.
Guess I will think about it but I'm biased to the 12" figures.

Are you saying that's too low? Most articulated figures are a fair bit under 10k, closer to 7-8k on the high end. 1000Toys figures are also usually under 10k, just Juzo from them (maybe Hellboy too, I can't recall) who's been above that recently.

Who cares? 90% of it are re-used Goku bodies and hands with new hair. Figmas are generally more expensive especially if they include any decent amount of accessories, Mafex is universally more expensive than 6k yen and so is Revoltech.

I got through most chapters, was missing everything post chapter 64 translated but it's trying up nicely. I couldn't read the most spoiler heavy stuff, and there's still cool resolve stuff, but you can definitely feel it was cut short. It's not a bad thing though, the series is rather condensed as it is ,I just wish we got more detective stuff.

Some of the new extended designs really feel like god complex though.

They did try to do a little something with the swappable upper jaw/faceplate, but the angry eyes don't do enough to change his expression IMO. He really did need an open-mouthed/smiling expression, and I feel like they could have engineered it with the magnetic faceplate system if they'd wanted to.

Admittedly, the preorder bonus from ThreeZero's store was his severed head in the jar, which was cool as hell. This head can be plugged onto his body as well, with the skullcap on, or you can use the bloody neck stump to make his body look headless. That's a lot of alternate play/display options, much more than you usually get from an exclusive bonus.

In fact, the one on the Baikanfu was infamous for gunking up part of the shoulder joints to the point where people wondered if those parts were even meant to be joints to begin with.

Then there's also shit like their Frame Action Meister figures that aren't particularly well articulated, relatively small, don't have a lot of features and yet still cost a whopping 100 bucks.
Don't even try to justify it with "Govarian and Plawres Sanshiro aren't that known or desired anymore" - Action Toys can shit out a fully transformable, combinable and well articulated Daltanious for 30-40 bucks and that show isn't all that popular anymore, either.

And the less said about the whole Roll Caskett debacle the better.

I measure how much I care about the source material to the quality of the figure and any issues it has. For example, this Dorohedoro line passes the test because we have very little else and it's my favorite manga. On the other hand, I'm also a big fan of old tokusatsu, but not enough that the price and significant flaws on Evolution Toy's new sentai line makes the releases worth it for me.

If we're talking sentinel, they have to make lots of sales and if one product does badly at all, either because of them or other people. The megaman line did alright outside of the roll from legends where they tried to sell you two versions one with a hat and one without for full fucking price and no one wanted that, so it clearanced and they made the only robot masters con exclusive which sold out. They would up canceling the line.

If I'm being real, I'm pretty bored by this. Even though I'm pretty sure it's a 100% new sculpt, it just feels the same as the old Synth for the most part, even down to the hand poses. I honestly wish 1000Toys had just gone all-out and done a whole line of BLAME! figures - Sanakan, Cibo, Dhomochevsky & Iko (of course!), Davine Lu Linvega, Pcell, Mensab, Seu an electrofisher in full armour and various synthetic life figures.
Nihei could have had so much fun designing the figures for these.

That forward crunch is great but the appeal of the Mafex is the jacket/sweatpants look, which the sentinel lacks. Totally different figures. Mafex wins if you want the character in his most iconic look from the movie, Sentinel's better if you want a "in his prime" Peter (and an overpriced ugly ass hunk of plastic gargoyle)

Newer female figma ankle joints are the exact size of this chiefs wrist peg. All you have to do at that point is use a small hand drill to dig into the hands so the peg fits but, holy shit. Even if i breached his palms a few times it was worth it just to have Chief hold his fucking gun without his hands falling off over every little fucking thing.
