That company selling the chips got shut down, and now the generally accepted way is to leave your Switch in a state where it needs a boot package sent to it from a PC or phone every time it restarts (which is rare, I don't fully turn my Switch off ever so I never really need to do this). Even then, it's pretty easy. Connect cable to phone and switch, press button, Switch boots.
PSP emulation is pretty lacking in comparison, both in terms of number of supported consoles and the smoothness of the emulation, and while in theory you can do similar stuff on a powerful enough Android device, it's not as convenient.
Also, the big point of that post was that it's a pretty compact all-in-one gaming library you can carry easily in your pocket/backpack, dunno why you used all those words just to say "I don't go outside."
