>>9149757Get Along Gang, Care Bears, and GI Joe were entire episodes of pre-SJW SJW messages though. The formers' entire themes were just that. GI Joe itself was about a rainbow of human skin tone soldiers, including international, which today would catch a lot of flak if it came out today, since the original GI Joe was about white soldiers only. Nevermind all that violence without any ramifications, because it needed to be "clean."
See also the Adventure Team reboot in the 70s, where they tried to gloss over the soldier part, because Hasbro didn't want to draw comparisons to the Vietnam War. This is purely a political appeasement for the hippies and media at the time. If Hasbro did that shit today, the screeching would cue the apocalypse. Everyone would be bitching that GI Joe would be better off dead.
On that note, Hasbro somehow didnt try to steer away from the army theme during the Gulf War back in 91 and even released more than a few desert themed figures. I believe this was when GI Joe got its second wind, it's second most popular high point since the mid-80s.
Same shit in the 00s, with the unpopular Team America wars across Asia (Iraq, Afghanistan). GI Joe actually flourished during this time, despite the anti-war and anti-America sentiments in the US, and a popular president whose campaign promised to fix all that shit.
