>>9192850>f you could make your own toyline what would it be?I grew up a huge Battletech/Mechwarrior dork, "Western Mecha" is my thing. But I'd go for the "gunpla" way of things: Cheap, mass-produced, plastic snapfit articulated mechs/models. They'd have a fair amount of standardized hardpoints to them, for easy customizing. I'd be tempted to have all the kits molded in grey, so the buyers can paint them and choose what "team" they're on, but that'd be a bit lame for kids just wanting a neat toy.
>What would be in the first 6 waves?I'd guess about four or so mechs per wave, and some other non-mech vehicles. Maybe one or two larger "playset" style items like repair hangers, or forward bases.
>What would the story be?Nearish-future, so a techbase that isn't utterly absurd. There'd be ayyys and interstellar travel, but the story/conflict would be human-focused. There'd be main factions; "Colonies", "political", mercs, local militia, and so on. AND NO FUCKING "CHOSEN ONE" BULLSHIT! No "special" super mecha. Just good old fashioned skill, guts, and luck.
>What scale would it be?Wouldn't know unless I was doing it, but as a rough starting point 1/60. A "mech" in my series would on average be about 30 feet tall, and I'd like about six inch figures to be the toy, so 1/60.
>Would there be playsets or vehicles?Lol, guess I answered this one up above. Yes. Oh, and upgrade or accessory packs. About the same price as an average mech, but would be stuff like weapons (lasers, cannons, missile packs, Etc), armor plates, antennas and sensor stuff. A way to make a mech "lived in".
>What would the boxes look like?Typical model kit boxes. Not something to put to much thought into. Maybe include some paperwork inside with lore stuff. Mech specs, history. Or better still, a blank "Pilot's record" with a blank box you could draw a picture in for a pilot. Let kids put themselves in the cockpit, so to speak.
A man can dream.
