Extendar, Dragstor, Blast Attak and Rio Blast will probably get it
Kobra Khan and Snout Spout are dependant on how complicated water squirting is
Sssqueeze MIGHT just because of how big and unwieldy his arms are. Putting him on a deluxe card might be easier.
Saurod is also a toss up because I can see them NOT even doing his feature.
Everyone else I think could get away with standards because they don't have complex gimmicks. Not to say guys like Mantenna, Mekaneck and Leech WONT be deluxe, but they could get away with making him standard

Also, does anyone know why Revelation was strictly titled "Masters of the Universe" while the CGI show could be named "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe"? If Mattel doesn't own that title, does that mean they're not the ones producing it? And if they are, are they paying for it?
Anonymous
>>9196895 Kevin Smith said it was because his show wasn't just about He-Man and that this was why it was called "Masters of the Universe," and not He-Man. He also contradictory, claimed that it was because Mattel doesn't own the rights to Filmation as the excuse. My suspicion, is it was a Kevin decision. In his head he probably thought of it as, "The Justice League isn't called, 'Superman and the Justice League,' so why would MOTU?"
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9196895 >>9196901 I think it's just as simple as the fact that he knew he was making the Teela show. It was never a He-man show so just remove his name.
The new show probably will be a He-man show, so he stays in the title.
Anonymous
>>9196901 >claimed that it was because Mattel doesn't own the rights to Filmation as the excuse Right, that's exactly why I'm asking this. He explicitly said, more than once, that he was unable to use the title (whether he wanted to or not is a separate question), so I'm wondering if it's a Universal thing, assuming they have Filmation rights, as in they're the ones producing the other show. From a quick search I didn't come up with anything conclusive.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9196922 I think the easiest conclusion to draw is that Kevin lied again. That's my strong suspicion, because it would be false advertising, if you called it "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," and then made it about Teela. I'd further suspect that Kevin probably thought adding He-Man to the title would make it sound like a baby show, and not a totally "metal" super serious "marvel" and "Game of Thrones," show where people get stabbed.
Kevin is so creatively bankrupt that he couldn't handle making a show with He-Man, and further is so lazy and uninspired that he has to constantly kill characters for the sake of drama, since it's all he knows.

>>9197274 From Kevin Smith's Writer Commentary Tracks, all 5 were posted on his Youtube. I'll go through 3-5 tomorrow, as the other 2 were a solid watch/listen. Good to hear some of the logic of why they went with certain choices.
Here's 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLsymbDo_a0 The main writer for this episode, Diya, mentioned Mosquitor was supposed to be in that scene and there was supposed to be some sort of aerial battle (making me think Mosquitor would have had wings). She also mentioned how for the Snake Mountain trap door, and the sea monster creatures in there that she went through various Snake Mountain video reviews until she found all the info she needed (a Pixel Dan video saved the day). Also I don't think that would have implied Mosquitor would have joined Tri-Klops, but it would have made him an Evil Warrior in the context of this show. His cybernetic parts would fit in with them though. If they want to pull characters from New Adventures too it'd be cool to see Optikk.
Among other things, they said Motherboard comes back in the second half, and that if there's a season 2 there will be more of 'her' as well, so I guess Tri-Klop's cult will persist.
And if anyone does decide to watch it, yes, Kevin Smith suggested that this was Stinkor's first appearance in animation (probably mixing him up with Scareglow). His brain probably isn't in top form, so I'll forgive it since Stinkor only appeared in one previous show.

So Revelation was a bust, The CGI cartoon is really doing its own thing (for good or ill we'll see). Why don't they do an adaptation that is strictly based on the original mini-comics? No Prince Adam, just He-Man?

Revelation Teela in a nutshell.
Anonymous
>>9197461 I'm gonna say I like Revelation and the hate towards it (though at this point it's mostly at Kevin Smith it seems) really feels overblown, at least on that side of the spectrum, and I'm gonna give the CGI show a chance, but in terms of an adult cartoon series, the mini-comics stuff does seem like it has the opportunity to be the most, let's say, adult. That said, how strictly do you adhere to the mini-comics if you do that, because it eventually leads to basically what we know of the current series after the initial start.
And that aside, it probably won't have that immediate appeal that the colorful world of MOTU that we all know. The nostalgia for this series is pretty strictly to the toys themselves or the Filmation show. I'm sure there are some that are really hardcore mini-comics fans, but they're surely way outnumbered. It'd still be an interesting take, even as a mini series of some sort. Maybe if MOTU becomes popular enough to get a continuous stream of content.

You release something like "He-man and the Sword of Power" based on the first mini comic, but at the same time release a movie that literally copy pastes Filmation stock footage with a cheesy story, and anything else you could think of. Adaptations of popular comics, crossover movies, an animated sequel to the live action film, nothing is interconnected, and There'd be something for everyone.
They could even do "He-man meets Scooby-Doo", and that's when you KNOW you've made it in the direct to video animated movie field

If instead Adam was like, "hey Teela, you're right, I'm sorry (for dying and saving the universe but mostly for not telling you a secret)", I would absolutely agree that the wrong message would be getting sent.

Really, they needed to do a single season of at least five or six episodes just to establish THIS version of Eternia so that what happens in Revelations would actually have impact and meaning

That writer was saying she has more ideas for Motherboard, and the only hint given was about body horror, and that'd be an interesting direction to take Hordak in, especially with his body transforming gimmick. Maybe Motherboard was tech from the Fright Zone that happened to land in Eternia during their invasion when Grayskull and He-Ro were around and only activated once there was no magic on the planet. A lot of the Horde isn't tech-based though, so not sure how well most of them would fit if they decided to push the Horde as the tech team.

I hate this Evil-Lyn. Her entire thing is the the Disney villain is really good/Maleficent/Cruella. Her lines and her voice acting are the biggest cringe.

>>9198018 Her lines with Orko in Episodes 3 and 4 are difficult to sit thru.
>NOOOOOOOOOO she's not really evil! She's heckin good and just nobody ever talked to her Orko's also written better in the second Motu Origins mini-comic.

Remember what they took from you.
Anonymous
>>9198003 Feel free to elaborate, because that on its own doesn't mean a whole lot. You mean their mission to save magic and get the 2 halves of the sword? They lead things along, but Orko is the one who allowed them to get past Subternia, Roboto is the one who was able to reforge the sword, Duncan protected the Sorceress, Beast Man white knighted for Evil-Lyn, He-Man saved the world, and Adam was the calm and thoughtful one between himself and Teela. The men in the show got a lot done, arguably more than the women.
Anonymous
>>9198028 No one ever talked to her? Nothing close to that was brought up.
>>9198046 No one can take 200x Teela from us.
Anonymous
>>9198052 >Nothing close to that was brought up. That's what it's implied by the conversations she repeatedly has. She's the main character of the next 5 episodes. She goes out of her way to say that she named herself "Evil" Lyn, and tells Orko, "that's your parents talking." I cringed so fucking hard at the, "that's your parents talking," line.
Who the fuck is the brainlet who thought this was good writing?
Anonymous
>>9198048 I was kidding. I guess the absurdity of the statement "giving women agency" about a franchise like He-Man where the women have a lot of depth gets lost in text. But I figured I'd throw that statement out and see how well it chummed the water.
Anonymous
>>9198057 >She's the main character of the next 5 episodes. wat, you mean 6-10? Or...?
Anonymous
>>9198063 Yeah, part 2, it's been stated that she's the main character in the next 5. Just like how Teela was the main character in the first part.

>>9198062 I don't think the audience really would have an issue with giving Teela and Evil Lyn agency, just the way Revelation does it rubs some fans the wrong way. It's always in complaining about their lot, what a man did (Adam not revealing his identity) or that they had to play second fiddle (EvilLyn w/ Skeletor).

>>9197356 Thank you for alerting me to the existence of writer commentary for the episodes, now I know it's officially confirmed Skeletor's face line was not an incel thing and was written as a Richard III style monologue for Hamill to chew the scenery with. Good fucking god that needed to die.

https://www.cbr.com/masters-of-the-universe-major-lgbt-romance-teela/ >One of the most diverse, groundbreaking aspects of Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was the LGBT angle the series took -- from Bow's dads, to Netossa and Spinnerella being married, to She-Ra and Catra falling in love. It gave the show a fearless aura and provided a powerful message of acceptance. Coincidentally, the streaming service seems to be venturing into similar territory once more with Teela and Andra in Masters of the Universe: Revelation. >Initially, when Teela's upset over Prince Adam's death and how he kept from her his secret He-Man identity, it felt like she might have harbored romantic feelings for her best friend. However, as the five episodes progress, it becomes clear it's all platonic and that she's actually hurting from a breach of trust between sibling-like figures. >Instead, when you reconcile key moments between Teela and Andra, there is romantic chemistry between them. The spark is obvious from the moment we're introduced to the two as tech scavengers making money. Andra is a scientist and engineer, much like Teela's mentor, Man-at-Arms, helping protect Teela on these missions. Anonymous
