When you say Captain, do you mean the Gold Label Lieutenant? Plasma pistol and power sword? If so, that one was a Walmart exclusive in the US, TRU exclusive in Canada, and specialty store release everywhere else.
Gold Labels range from a significantly different figure like the Lieutenant, to simple repaints.
Platinum releases are generally just repaints of some sort, like gold paint, bronze paint, or like the white Sister. Some recent ones like the All For One and Flayed One Platinum releases do have differently molded parts though.
