>>9215088>>9215081They've stated multiple times that they weren't doing it to appeal to any TF fans like comic or cartoon fans specifically. They wanted to appeal to ML and BS collectors who don't collect transformers. Hasbro thought this was because they didn't want a transforming toy and instead wanted something akin to those lines.
Then they made a shittier line than both ML and BS who have been improving hugely and not even remotely close to Classified which has been a fucking continental leap for them in terms of quality and engineering. Like I agree the Super7 stuff is much better and smarter marketing wise but comparing the two is like apples and oranges.
The only comparable thing imo is the old old old Revoltech TF figures, as they were designed and marketed towards people who hadn't bought transformers in years and wanted something hyper poseable and stylized, two things the mainline wasn't. It was fresh and interesting, even if you didn't want a non-transforming toy. They aimed at a different market and for the most part landed. Same as why the Revoltech Movie Prime shelfwarmed. Why the fuck would I pay for a toy that costs comparably to ROTF Leader Prime when they both look about as good but one is huge and transforms.
