Because MMPR will always be the one that's pushed, and it doesn't have a purple ranger. I assume that Hasbro is aiming these at TMNT fans who don't normally buy PR stuff so of course they're gonna work from the thing that 30-40somethings that grew up with TMNT are gonna remember.

Because despite looking for any excuse to make OCs, Boom forced the MMPR suits onto the Turtles instead of making them their own unique Ranger suits. It's why the weapons are also a weird amalgam between the MMPR and TMNT weapons. The MMPR suits just don't work for the TMNT. This is the one time Boom should have actually made something original.

The context is that the Rangers themselves were unable to morph so they had to give their morphers to the Turtles and April to deal with a monster terrorizing Time Square
The Rangers were then given ninja outfits and gear by Splinter and teamed up with Casey Jones to break into the Technodrome and bust Tommy out

There were a million better ways to handle a crossover than that convoluted nonsense. Like I said, if they were determined to make Turtle Rangers, then make them completely original designs. The MMPR colors/weapons/roles just don't work for the Ninja Turtles. MMPR Red is a sword wielding leader, so Leo would make the most sense to fill that spot, but since it's Red it's given to Raph. MMPR Blue is a lance (which is basically a staff when combined) wielding braniac, so Donatello would make the most sense to fill that role, but since it's blue it's given to Leo. They altered the MMPR weapons to make them closer to the TMNT weapons, but it's just a mess. Also really dumb to give them all Green Ranger armor without any explanation. I get why they did it, but it doesn't make any sense.

Lets be real here, OC ranger suit turtles weren't what was going to get people looking at this. There's a reason they even tossed in Green ranger elements in these designs. They exist entirely to combine two nostalgic designs in one regardless of how apt it is for the story itself.

Yeah, I agree. I was wondering why Leo was the blue ranger. Red is the leader, and he also uses a sword. It matches Leo. But they had to base it off the color instead of the actual weapons. Donatello should’ve been blue, because of the lance, Leo should’ve been red, because of the sword, and Raph should’ve been Yellow, because the daggers look kinda like sais. And Mikey can use an axe, idk. Original suits would’ve been better but what’s the easiest option? Match the colors. And that’s what they did.

We literally just had an episode utilizing a character from 3 years ago, and last season had numerous episodes using RPM and Dino Charge continuity. Hell the big bad of the last series ended up being the big bad from an 11 year old season.

The thing that annoys me about the Turtle Rangers (and whenever the Boom comics features an OC Ranger, really, but the Turtles are just the most well known example) is Boom's insistence on... I'm not even sure what you'd call it, but where the morphed Ranger suit varies depending on the appearance of the person morphing. Like, there's no reason that the Turtles and Shredder don't just morph into the MMPR as we see them on the show, but instead we get the Turtle Rangers and Green Shredder because... they're turtles and Shredder has armor on, I guess? They did something similar in an issue of Go Go Power Rangers, showing an alien who'd stolen the Dragon Coin from Rita, and they looked roughly the same, except the gloves had three fingers.

What bugs me is that that's not how morphing works. I get the logic they're trying to go with - THIS is what the MMPR suits look like on tiny little humans and THIS is what the MMPR suits look like on big mutant turtles - but we've SEEN non-humans with weird shaped bodies morph into Rangers (the Aquitians, Doggie Cruger, Zenowing, Steel) and they still morph into regular human-shaped Rangers. Morphers don't customize by species. It doesn't matter what you are, you're "human" when you're morphed. And Shredder is the worst offender because at least the Turtles and the alien thief are because that how their actual bodies are shaped. Shredder just happens to be wearing other clothes beneath his Ranger suit. You're telling me that if Zack or Jason morphed while wearing a backpack or their football uniform or even a large enough hat, that the Black or Red Ranger would look completely different? Shit's fucking stupid.

I can kinda roll with the turtles being morphed. Yeah, like you said, the Morphers change your body to be a humanoid shape. But even with Zenowing and Kruger, the issues are mostly just their heads, and I guess Zeno’s wings. If the same logic as the turtles is followed, then the helmets should change, but idk.
Characters like Justin from Turbo changed pretty radically, or the Hyper Force rangers also show that you can be a pretty large dude and the morphing process is going to get you in good shape. Either way, yeah, it’s a little goofy. But I can understand it, sorta.
Shredder makes no sense. He’s a guy in armor. Unless he alters the morpher somehow, he shouldn’t just become green shredder. Beyond dumb.

We all know the reason they don't usually have such radical differences is for budgets sake, the cost piles on (more so if you want the actor to be able to see and move) if they have to make a custom neck or torsos to match the rest and I'm sure there is some r&d to consider with it as well so keeping the system simple is a cost covering measure. Comics are not restrained in the same way so they can do more with it.
As for Shredder it's not unheard of for suits to take wild changes based on outside factors such as magic and what not, and sentai have worn cloths under and over their uniforms effecting the look.

I've always taken it Zordon updating the suit templates over the years since he had little else to do in the thousands of years between Rita being sealed and freed. And the reason the helmets don't change when they get the Ninja Coins is because they're tapping into the grid via the same morpher technology, but he never bothered to alter the templates to reflect the new animals.

Was going to buy this two pack, but they just released the second two pack is yellow Ranger mikey and pink Ranger April that is just Kimberly pink Ranger again. 100%. Outside of the alternate head. Will save my money. Hasbro is becoming increasingly jewish with their releases. Was close to dropping the line after the pink morphin and Zeo Ranger two pack, now I’m sure. Wave one hit store shelves, but after that all my local retailers lost all faith in the line.
I imagine the Tenga not being available on Pulse is probably related somehow, perhaps they don't make as many units as they used to for the earlier waves, and now they're struggling to keep up when there IS demand for a character.

You're in for a treat though, I think the Tenga might just be my favourite figure in the line so far.
If I can get Pudgy Pig before he sells out, he may be a close second.

There's two main factors at play here:
* the Zordon era is a big draw for nostalgia bait
* people want complete teams
Because of this they're trying to get complete Zordon teams out, because that's what's gonna sell.
They'll probably do Lightspeed Rescue or Super Samurai Rangers eventually, but expect MMPR characters such as Squatt, Baboo, Finster, Ninjor, Rito, Bulk and Skull peppered throughout the line for years to come, even if they do move on to other Ranger teams.

Box sets for less popular teams would be great. Jungle Fury, Operation Overdrive, etc. Make it a box set, then release the 6th ranger in the main line. Idk, maybe that wouldn’t work.

I haven't bought a modern PR toy ever unless you count Shinkenger SHFs and haven't bought a TMNT toy since the 90s when I was a kid. These are probably the smartest crossover in toys hasbro has ever done and these will sell a shitload to people who only collect one or the other brand. When my Kat and Aisha as Pink/Yellow preorders come through, I'm posing them that way. I think that's Hasbro's intent, as they tend to rerelease Rangers when there's a different headsculpt to offer.

So glad I'm not a completionist, I'm strictly in it for the Zordon era (except Turbo) and then I'm out. Don't care about alternate heads or metallic armour, just the base Ranger costumes and monsters.

All of TMNT/MMPR designs are bad. With Shredder specifically, why are his arms exposed? I get that Shredder himself has exposed arms, but if he's a ranger, it doesn't make sense for any part of his body to be exposed. But that also brings me to the turtles. Why do they look the way they do? We've been shown that if a child morphs into a ranger, their body changes to a more physically mature form, and this was true whether it's Super Sentai (Dairanger) or Power Rangers (Turbo). So why don't the turtles' bodies change to more human-like forms? Also, you'd think they'd be using the powers that best equate with their weapons, not with the colors of their bandanas.

Yeah, I guess that’s true. I just don’t understand complaining about the glitter ones if you have MMPR already; just don’t buy them. We’ve gotten Adam and Rocky heads from Zeo, and we’ve got Kat and Tanya heads from the upcoming two packs. The glitter rangers are totally optional, even if you want the second team’s heads.
I’m also willing to bet we see a “Rocky” 2-Pack, with MMPR Red and Zeo Blue. Gives them an opportunity to fix both helmets, and give Zeo Blue his tonfas.

Even then 3 releases is not realistic. These are fully tooled completely new figures, and if this cross over is successful hasbro will likely find a way to reprint them.

On that note, assuming lightning collection continues tenga will probably be reprinted until the metal molds break. I fully expect a restock and a variant

They're re-releases of the basic figures, yeah, but there's a little more than that. None of the made-up weapons from the single releases - all of them have the Chromafury Saber from the show that the single releases didn't have, Blue MIGHT have his helmet painted correctly, it includes an opening belt buckle and the main 5 keys are also included.

Hasbro clarified recently that they will be released single-carded too. The use of "exclusive" was referring to the 5-pack being exclusive to Amazon, not that Green & Black are available exclusively in it.

Oh thank god. The Chromafury Sabers should have been the original weapons for all of them. Bizarre that Hasbro made up individual weapons instead of including the same sword for each carded figure when the constant corner-cutting everywhere else suggests they have a low budget
