Also on that list were Modulok and Dylamug (who were teased by Axel that he's working on them) and the name Phibian (who people believe will be the name for the frogman on the Wind Raider and Battleground Warrior box)
If those 3 are more or less confirmed as incoming, I think we can deduce that Mantenna is incoming by virtue of getting the trademark.
Tl;Dr, Mantenna for 2022 most likely.
>>9223628 >upcoming release are you looking forward to the most? Out of the stuff that we know exactly when it's coming, just Clawful.
But including stuff that's been teased but not officially announced, the aforementioned Phibian, Modulok, Mantenna, Dylamug, plus Grizzlor when he gets his retail release, are all high on my want list.

I'm torn on King Hiss. I love his vintage relationship with Skeletor, but it makes no sense for the leader of the Snake Men to live his life in a human costume. The design (based on James Earl Jones's Thulsa Doom turning into a snake in priest robes at one point) really belongs to a deep cover agent gaining power over humans.

>>9224744 Piggy backing off you're post, I was curious earlier today and was browsing through all of Mattels trademark filings, and in addition to all the recent ones that we've been talking about like Mosquit-ra, and Mantenna and shit, it looks like last year they filed renewals for Fang Man, Strong-or, Icer, Shokoti, Nepthu, Plundor and even Standor.
If Mattel can't touch Filmation shit the way a lot of people claim, what use would it be to trademark the names? And Standor really has me scratching my head because I cannot see them ever making another toy of him, so why not let the trademark expire?
And it also raises the question as to whether or not a trademark filing should even be taken as an indicator of anything. If Mattel renews "just because", then it's nothing to get hyped over since it doesn't guarantee its for a new toy.

It would kind of be hilarious if the mainstream Motu revival comes not from Revelations and wokeness but by reimagining the NA.
The more I think about it, the more material Mattel has if they want to keep Origins going. NA has the same licensing issues surrounding Motu and PoP?
I wouldn't mind proper releases of El-Dor and He-Ro. The super 7 ones are not particularly durable. It would also be amazing if they included more of the knock-offs like Sun Man and Galaxy Warriors.
Or fucking Speclatrons. Holy shit can you imagine being able to swap out those torsos.
Anonymous
>>9226157 There are a lot of avenues for new figures without new characters if they're willing to reimagine alternate versions, like the aforementioned "vintage Staghorn".
There's precedent. Classics put She-ra in NA with Intergalactic She-ra. And (don't freak out at the mention of the name), they put a new version of Mara in SPOP. So if they can do that, why can't we have MotU Staghorn, or NA Trap Jaw, or 200x Saurod, or William Stout Mekaneck? Just move one character to another franchise, redesign them for that aesthetic, and boom, new source of figures. You could essentially remake the entire roster 4 or 5 times by just filtering them through a different lens each time

The sad part of this brilliant post is that there was a time when such a practice was standard fare across all toylines. Star Wars, TMNT, Toybiz, etc all did it one time or another. Honestly, I think it would totally in character if Zodac was also the one who told the Horde to invade Eternia and let King Hiss out of his prison, just to make it more difficult on He-man
Anonymous
>>9226801 A "neutral" character like Zodac is almost impossible to pull off in a cartoon pushes an entirely black & white morality, which is what the Filmation show was.
Honestly there are a lot of ways a new He-Man cartoon could've been made more "adult" and making Zodac into some kind of a cosmic chessmaster playing both sides towards the middle for some vague and difficult to understand goal - maybe a perpetual conflict between good and evil - and then having the heroes in particular struggle with the moral implications of this could've made for an interesting story.

I think the most likely - and sensible - explanation is that he just doesn't have a horse in this particular race. That is to say, he doesn't really have a vested interest in the conflict that takes place in Eternia, and he only gets involved when an outside force tries to interfere with it. Kinda like the Federation in Star Trek with the Prime Directive, particularly circa the original series; they generally didn't meddle with the affairs of primitive races until the Klingons started doing it.

>Sorceress >Jitsu >Sun Man >Buzz Off >Horde Trooper >Anti-Eternia He-Man >Clawful >Minicomic Trap Jaw >Minicomic Stratos >'87 Movie He-Man >'87 Movie Skeletor Anonymous
>>9227187 Yes, the next 9 figures have been revealed, and they don't even include Grizzlor. We just don't know what the exact 4 characters in each wave will be and whether Horde Trooper is its own SKU or one of the 9 is a Deluxe.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9227198 It being an odd number is weird. And they were all listed at standard prices, so unless it's a mistake, Horde Trooper is a standard.
Maybe they're increasing the number of figures in a wave from 4 to 5? (Prob wishful thinking)
Anonymous
>>9227198 I think if any one of them is a deluxe it would be either Sun Man or Horde Trooper. If you look close on the Power-Con Horde Trooper, you can see it actually has the button and hinge for the action feature.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9227205 Yeah, but the feature is, for all intents and purposes, just removable armor. Simple enough I think that it could be standard.
So it could go either way really.

"Etheria was once a land of living legends. Throughout the ages, brave warriors across the realm stood together against the forces of evil, led by immortal beings known as the Old One. After a titanic struggle, these champions locked away the power of the Old Ones, inside Eternia Crystals..." -- Dungeon Defenders (2010) opening narration So how does IP law for place names work? These names continue to be used in Dungeon Defenders: Awakened (launched last year) and while those were dormant trademarks except for a very obscure toyline (MotU Classics), Dreamworks started using Etheria in 2018...

I'd optimistically presume a similar fate for a Hordak in an imagined sequel. If we're talking adapting the character into live-action more generally, I'd say the Classics figure should be treated as a production maquette for that purpose. I believe it would come out looking a bit like the unmasked Predator; a bony head plate, sinewy jaws, a bit of a sheen to it. You could take that inspiration further and equip him with a helmet more evocative of his angular, blocky, cybernetic Filmation head, and develop Horde Prime as a logical extension of that.

Perhaps because he didn’t test as well as other early characters, Mer-Man nearly went into the bin of rejected concepts. As Mark Taylor explained: Well, they almost rejected Mer-Man. They didn’t understand him, and wanted to take him out of the line. I had a hard time convincing them to keep him. I said “Don’t you understand? There has to be someone who lives in the water!” I was envisioning a magnificent line of toys that could be played with in the water. Decades later, George Lucas did a similar thing in The Phantom Menace. I worked for the US Navy for almost ten years in the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, so I really wanted to do undersea stuff. I was a diver, and I felt the mysticism of being under water. That’s such an amazing area to get into.

Well, I went to look for MOTUs and found nothing this time. I had absolutely no clue it was so popular in my country, there was only a Teela and that wave 1 Skeletor everyone hates and bunch of Ram Men and Clamp Champs. Basically, only whatever people are not generally interested in was left. I was wondering, though, how possible could it be for Mattel to start re-issuing the Classics figures as part of Masterverse? Would that save that line? Because I haven't seen people here even posting about them for a while.
