In the 00s, we had companies like McFarlane doing their thing with some of the most impressive sculpts that no one has matched to this day.
In the 00s, DC Direct was already sculpting toys based on artists' styles.
In the 00s, Figma was already matching anime/manga styles.
In the 00s, Hasbro and Toy Biz were both making their toys look like the actors.
In the 00s, there were lots of impressive gashopon and similar minifigures that matched their respective series styles.
Epoch, ArtFX, Hot Toys, and many other companies were accomplishing the same shit.
And no one said they had to be perfect. It's not even possible now, but all these examples have reached the level we're still at. Showing it was possible to get toys that looked like the source.
Stuff like SHF didn't even bother to try, while SOTA was only successful like 1 out of 10 times. Ten year difference, yet SOTA actually did a good job at least once, instead of straight up mediocrity all the time.
