The Bayformers look like the Bayformers because they're just a mass of exposed working mechanical parts, with not much "skin"/outer plating to cover up the mechanical innards, and even less color in the characters' designs (off the top of my head, the only Transformers in the entire series I can think of with color are Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, and Hound). So he says he hates the Bayformers - notable for their exposed metal innards, a notable lack of metal "skin," and an even more notable lack of color - and then proceeds to give the MonsterVerse Mechagodzilla literally all of those exact same things.
